He and Lukaku have good synergy. Martial is an awesome dribbler but I also admire how he can bring others into play. Something Rashford could learn from - not to go solo all the time.

Glad he is starting and doing well . Rashford wont be getting into the side soon unless it is as a striker or as a RW. Hope he carries on like this, clearly a better player than rashford and should be our long term left attacker.

Think he mishit that shot. It went in the direction he wanted but I'm almost certain it went much higher than he wanted.

Good outcome though.

Just a reminder to people who went on about Martial boosting assists last weekend with that supposedly hopeless ball to Lukaku... 4:14, 5:26, 5:33, 9:52, 10:09 in that clip. I distinctly remember more assists he should have had with very good crosses (another cross from the right to Lukaku), so it goes both ways. He loses out on some assists with passes that deserved one and he wins some with the goalscorer doing most of the work.

And when you watch that compilation you actually notice that nearly all of the assists he's earned were purely from great crosses and passes that put goalscorers into great chances...

edit: here is that chance he created for Lukaku to put in but missed vs Stoke which would have earned us three points. 4:45

He's created loads of chances this season aside from those assists he got. Good player this Anthony Martial. Give him a break when next time you begrudge him an easy assist yeah?

I think you're right, but that came as a result of giving the keeper the eyes and indicating he was going for the far corner. That's something that's very difficult to pull off, and shows intelligence beyond his years.

Reportedly, Hazard has pinned up a martial poster in his house

He is on course to better his league scoring tally from his incredible first season (10 in 15-16; 9 so far this season)

Love his footwork and love the way he runs at players. He's consistently drawing 2-3 men to him when he has the ball to his feet now. And you just know the real worth of his attacking threat when opposing teams give him that kind of respect.

Hoping he'd be here for many more years and to continue growing into something special.

Happy to see him smiling a lot recently, puts all the possible bullshit talk to bed. Done very well this season, long may it continue.

Superb finish, chuffed to bits for him. His hard work is paying off and he's getting the playing time and the rewards. Lukaku back and getting his confidence back has really helped. Looking forward to some more of it!

He's doing great and things will get easier for him when Sanchez comes. He's getting double-marked every time.

Absolutely. Having a full back who bombs forward out wide and a central player of Sanchez's quality will take his effectiveness to the next level.

The Punjabi Anthony martial song -

Desh aa munde da France ni
Media kehnda koi Chance ni.
Kehnde 60 million khooh ch dharta,
Te edhar Tony Martial ne ik hor Goal karta.

Just watching MUTV and seen Martial interview after the game. English is limited but tells me about his maturity and feeling more comfortable in himself. He always looked in the past like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. I think secretly Rom has really helped and you can see there's a special relationship between developing amongst players, just not on the pitch.

His goal was sublime. However, looking at the overall performance, he was pretty poor. He wasted a couple of great counter attacks, and somehow he looked surprisingly slow yesterday. Phil Bardsley is hardly the fastest fullback in the league, yet Martial seemed incapable of outpacing him, which is weird as he had the better of Yedlin in terms of speed. Slight injury?

Yeah the partnership with Lukaku is looking great, they've got a good few mutual assists now this season and seem to understand each other very well.

That finish will put PL defenders on notice that you can't defend him like he's Antonio Valencia. Was the 2nd time in the match both the keeper and defender sold out on fundamental positioning to stop a right sided finish. Class players see these and adjust accordingly

If he starts adding left foot goals into the mix then he will become really difficult to stop.

@Rossa Burnley defended really deep and lack of overlap was killing us. Still think Martial was pretty awesome yesterday compared to last few performances.

Good finish, looks like he's enjoying his football at the moment and getting some stick off Mourinho previously appears to have done its job.

I know he scored and his confidence picked up after that. But what really pissed me off was the number of times he made a short pass to Young and then stood still asking the ball to be played back into his feet as he stared down 2 banks of Burnley defenders, when he could easily have made an overlap run into the acres of space ahead of Young. Little things like that made it a lot harder against a well drilled Burnley side.

I've noticed this too. He seems to much prefer picking up the ball and beating the players instead of running onto a through ball. Each to their own I guess but he should mix it up a bit to be less predictable. He's doing so well at the moment though - he's really stepped up.

Part of the growth. Can't expect him to be a complete player at 21.

Which is why I think Shaw is a better partner for him. Young also likes the ball to his feet a lot, while Shaw makes a lot of off-ball runs. Makes the attack less static

I also much prefer Shaw partnering Martial to Young. Like you said Shaw makes those overlapping runs which kind of cancel out Martial lack of runs.

I also noticed that Young is eager to do things on his own rather than looking for Martial(I guess he still has attackers instincts) while Shaw has no problem giving the ball to Martial to do his thing when we're in the opponents half.

I know he isn’t complete yet. But little things like these should have been picked up by coaching staff and rectified, especially at half time when it was painfully obvious we weren’t making enough runs to shake Burnley’s defence. If I could pick it, Jose should have done something.

I just thought he was allergic to the corner flag. But yes he and Young being righties show little interest in playing off the overlap. You don't quite notice it as much when Shaw is in but it's something that needs to be worked on

I don't know, it seems like the kind of thing that needs a lot of film work and repetition to get used to making instinctively plus he also needs some continuity with a left back to form that kind of partnership yo pick out each other's runs.

I have optimism that he'll get it considering how well he otherwise interlinks with pogba and Lukaku.

Must be one of the things they work on over the summer.

:D Hopefully they do because these things will make us tick just that much better against teams who want to park the bus against us.

He will be an absolutely brilliant player in a couple of years. He's already quite brilliant of course, but I feel he has another level he can reach.

I think Sanchez will have a positive influence on him - in his time here he's arguably been the most skillful attacker, it will do him some good to have a somebody at his level with more experience to help him develop further.

Martial still has a lot of work to do. His permanent weakness hasnt changed yet. He always keeps pace with the rhythim of the match too slowly, that's why he almost disappeared during first half against Burnley. His second half was explosive as usual, which is not a surprise.

Not related but this picture brought me all happiness in the world
