He gives the fear to defenders when he runs at them that I haven't seen since Ronaldo or Nani's best season. They just know they're going to get beat.

How is it possible for a player at this level to not be able to cross?

We have zero players who have no idea how to cross, even though some of them main job is to cross the ball. Crossing is not Martial's main job, he is not a traditional winger.

Decent in the first half but didn't get into things in the second half and almost gifted them a winner.

He's completely mard. If the game is looking like it isn't a walk in the park he just completely disappears.

Not contributing enough.. Some days he looks unplayable others he just doesn't do anything of value

Someone add the benny hill theme song to that last defensive play

Can this guy not play on the right wing ever? I know he likes to cut in, but perhaps we could have stuck Rashford on the left and moved Martial over to the right for the last 15 minutes.

If we had given him the ball as much as we gave it to Valencia we'd be better off.

The first half was a walk in the park and he produced one pass across the box. All he does it take players on and then feck all. If he doesn't just get tackled by the second or third defender he just waits for them to get a block or sends in a shit cross or pass. He needs to be way quicker on the ball and release the fecking thing. He doesn't need to dribble 5 players every time he gets the ball.

I think in the last 10-15 we should have played more on the left and looking for Martial. Valancia got injured which means he couldn't sprint forward anymore and the right side threat decreased.

He started the game so brightly then like the rest of team he dropped off. Players lost their heads after that drama at the end of the first half and the play, rythm were all disrupted especially coupled with Bournemouth play acting.

Given the first half he had, it made no sense why we werent trying to use him more in the second half.

I thought he was positive today, he had a good game and caused problems. I'd like to see him back in the centre, but we don't really have other options on that left side.

He needs to start demanding the ball off players, or doing more off the ball to allow him to be more involved, because when he gets it, he's really dangerous. Not involved enough, though.

Last season, he was our outlet. Under Van Gaal's system, he always got the ball. This season, he's not. We're trying to go through the middle too much.

Been saying this all year. He decided to run with the ball two times today, resulted in two shots, one from a difficult angle, and a good one which forced a good save.

Summed up his game when he was more dangerous heading towards our own goal than theirs.

They double up on him more in the second half and he struggled to make an impact. thought he was the best of the front 4.

Ibrahimovic stifles him so much. Constantly drifts out wide to his space, constantly ignores his runs and often refuses to give him the ball when he right in front of him in a better position. Ibrahimovic has been the worst thing to happen to Martial.

Swap Ibra with somebody like Griezmann and watch Martial fly.

Decision making is the type of thing he needs to learn. This kind of thing is evident in every game. Today he had Rooney wide open yet he decided to shoot from a bad angle. After Zlatans penalty, he got the ball and skied it instead of trying to pass it in the middle. The dribbling towards our own goal in the end.

I know people don't like it when Zlatan or Rooney point out these these things to him. But that's exactly what he needs, to learn from them.

It says a lot that Mourinho kept him on both in the final after he was awful and today. He knows how deadly he can be. Martial has obviously worked hard to get back in the team and credit to him for it.

He showed some improvent today by also going on the outside at times, making him more unpredictable. There are still aspects of his game though that need to and can improve for him to turn out to be the player he has the capability to be. He is still young though and has time to learn and improve, and I think he will.

So now it's no longer Darmians fault or any other LB but Zlatan's? It always has to be anyone but himself.

In the second half Ibra was always upfront, never on the left, didn't see Martial play better for it. His movement isn't that great, maybe that's why he's ignoring him, which isn't necessarily always true.

Yes Martial would fly without Ibra, obviously that's what's stopping him. He would fly straight into defenders, like he did last week.

I thought Martial was very bright in the first half, helped by a more encouraging performance from Shaw. However, we lost all composure in the second half which ensured that we didn't use the ball intelligently when in possession, which isolated Martial. Out of all the players we had on the pitch today, he is by far the most adept at dribbling at speed. Moreover, a team needs dangerous dribblers if it has any intentions of breaking down packed defences. Therefore, it made absolutely no sense that we ignored Martial during the second half.

There's only so long we can go with feck all going on the left most games. We'll never look great til this side is better

Faded as the game went. Especially take hiding in second half. Little support or not, his movement off ball especially in the second half was off. Not in ideal position/ angle for teammate to pass to. When receiving the ball, struggled with his back toward opponent's goal.

When teams sit in, he should just go up top with Ibra. He rarely saw the ball on the left and they doubled up on him every time.

Zlatan and Rooney didnt help his game much yesterday.. But having the RB in his pocket yesterday more should have come out of it.

I feel that one area where he can improve is his fitness. He usually looks like a beast in the first half beating defenders for fun. Then I feel that after 60-70 minutes his legs are gone and he does not provide anywhere near the same threat. This is one of the reasons yesterday I thought Rashford should have came on for him. Martial ran their defenders ragged for 60 mins. Their defenders were knackered playing with 10 men. I felt Martial had the main course and was completely full so why not give the desert to a fresher Rashford?
