Probably work hard in training but not much else. This is clearly a test of attitude on Martial
Must be something like that. And it might have been a fight between Jose and Martial/his agent so now Jose wants to show that it won't work whatever they now were trying to do.

Either Mourinho is trying to send a message to him or their relationship has broken down.

Pretty sure Mourinho would have promised Young some minutes after he didn't leave in the transfer window.

In fairness thats no defence. Mourinho should have been biting clubs hands off to shift him not promising him minutes to try and keep him!

Being a talent is obviously not enough. You have to show it, you have to train hard, you have to have a positive, team oriented attitude. Is it possible that Martial doesn't have one of these ?
Ok so a young man who had a great season last year and wants to play is not happy with this treatment should get the shaft..

Fellaini, Young instead of one of the best talents in Europe..

He needs to leave as Mou will ruin goes career..

I hope that if we sell him we get most of our money back because he's definitely worth it. I think he needs to change his agent and improve his attitude.

Will be sickening seeing him tearing it up for City/Chelsea in a few years.

Clearly personal

Piss off Jose
Hilarious. A 3-0 away win at the premier league champions to move to within 2 points of top 4, playing some great stuff...but hey, let's get rid of Jose because he's not playing 1 player.

Is there any chance Young had a good week in training, thus deserved a chance? I'm guessing not, seems like about 20 people saw training this week, judging by the "what has he done to deserve a game" comments.

It means that you need to get a grip and realise that Manchester United is far bigger than any one player. Our future success doesn't hinge on whether Martial is in the team.

Our future success does hinge on having great payers. Martial is a very good one that will turn into a great one, so I think it's in our interest to make sure he's happy.

Thread's getting silly now. Gone from a player discussion to morons calling each other fanboys. Can we avoid this thread turning into fanboy v non fanboy nonsense.

Agree. Not hopeful though.

Which is why I think the manager needs backing. These players have had too much room to sulk in the last few years.

He's making it clear he expects nothing but total effort. fecking right too.

Everyone calm yer titties. It's the beginning of February, not July.

Sounds like you think Martial's welfare is more important than the club. He's one of many players. If the manager selects him then great. If not, then he should work his way back into the squad (assuming he's a fighter) and do whatever is necessary to get back into the mix.

Do you have a crystal ball you're not telling us about? He's a terrific talent, as he shown last season. There's actually a high chance a player like him could make the difference to our success. Just because you want a player of this potential to not get dicked over by Jose playing a shit player ahead of him, doesn't make you a fan boy. Myself and many others simply don't want him to feck off and help another team win titles over these next few years.

Mourinho doesn't do sentiment. With how far behind others we are on goals scored you'd much rather have Martial coming on whilst 3-0 up and cruising to try and make the score bigger.

He's not gone he drama queens. Just needs to put in more work, there's obviously a reason. Mourinho isn't playing him, just like with Miki. Miki realised that and has worked very hard the last few months. Will Martial?

It's harsh on Martial but I can understand the logic of playing Young for few minutes because I think he wanted to leave in winter due to lack of game time and it was blocked by Mourinho so offering him some minutes when we are winning comfortably is ok instead of playing him in important games.

Signs not good. For the sake of the future of the club and player I hope whatever it is gets sorted out and Martial is back firing on all cylinders next season.

Yeah it does feel wrong having a moan after a big win

But the martial situation is a real concern for me anyway

I just want it sorted out with a positive conclusion

Well said, I'm a big fan of Martial but ultimately buck ends with the manager and he has to do what he's demanding. I still feel people are being over-dramatic as they were with Mkhitaryan earlier in the season, if the player works hard and wins over the manager then he'll be back playing.

Also, all the drama queens who fear that he'd tear it up for Arsenal/Chelsea/City need to understand there's no chance in hell he's sold to a direct rival.

He's getting the Mkhi treatment lads, chill the feck out. It's all down to Martial how he reacts to this.

I'm sure he'll work harder and come out of this a better player.

I worry Arsenal would snap him up should he leave. He would be deadly at Arsenal! :(

Well as far as I'm aware he's under contract with us, so we decide whether or not to accept an Arsenal bid. Mourinho isn't a moron like LVG to help benefit a rival club.

Meh. He was starting every game at the beginning of the season and didn't look interested so i'm not surprised it has come to this.

It is bizarre though that Mourinho's decision to freeze him out has come during a time where he had put in some better performances.

Likely something going on behind the scenes. I guess we will just have to wait for it to play out.

That's a good point. It's easy to jump to it was a message by Jose but when exactly is he going to give Young minutes?

I'm sorry but there's no way Rashford is better than this guy. Also, how on earth is Young coming on ahead of him now?

Never mind the why, we won't know until he leaves (if he does, that is).
I'm struggling to understand the what, as in what Mourinho wants to get out of this. If he has 0 trust in him and wants him gone, why have him on the bench? If Martial's not putting in the effort in training, same question. If he just thinks he's not performing well enough, why not give him half an hour at the end of matches to try and get him going?
