Anthony Elanga | Forest watch

Yeah but that's just a box ticking exercise in what to say when you join a new club.
He said it again in casual conversation with MGW at his first day of training. He looked genuine to me.

Elanga got the 2nd 45m in a preseason Vs Leeds. A couple of days ago. The overall first impression - Absolutely rapid but has a very heavy first touch. He could have had shots on goal a couple of times but didn’t control the pass into him. Early days though.

Works hard, lots of pace, bit shit at football. That's the Elanga we know alright.

Honestly that’s pretty much all you’ll get from Elanga. He’s just not a very good footballer. Terrific athlete, and an absolute trier but lacking hugely in technical ability. He also falls over a lot. He’s a Championship level player. I hope he does well because he seems like a genuinely great lad but I think we’ve robbed you for £15 mil in all honesty.

Hope we have a juicy sell-on in this deal.

Good player but not at a top 6 standard. He has the pace to and direct running to punish any team but his finishing isn't quite good enough.

Exactly. He'll obviously perform against bottom half teams like Chelsea but he'll struggle against the big boys.

Go on my son! His finishing is good you plonkers  He just needs to get games to refine his game and he wasn’t going to get that here. Good talented young player. Good fee. Let him grow. Hopefully he’ll take points off our rivals this season!

Excellent composure! He is on the way to grow into an wonderful player.

He is 21. It would require a lot of things to go right, but he can absolutely develop into top 6 standard.

He'll be a solid PL mid table player. His pace and athleticism will cause problems on the counter attack against any defence, combined with tidy but unspectacular technique, finishing etc.

Cole palmer: 45 mil
Elanga: 20mil?

We really under appreciate player values while Forest sell Johnson for 50 mil. Just can’t wrap my head around this.

This post won’t age well.

What should not be understated is the common sense of his decision to reject Everton and hold out for Forest instead.

I have followed him closely for years, IMo he is a very good finisher for a LW and his goalscoring is one of his strengths. I know he didn't always show this at United but watch his goal today for example.

There's a chance he gets there in his late 20's but I think the best he can realistically hope for is to become a PL regular. No shame in that, many can't achieve that level.

Yeah it was a great goal, and he's capable of that, but you give him more time and he doesn't have the composure to punish teams. He likes to run in behind and hit it first time as he comes onto the ball, which he's very effective at.

Agreed, his problems are his passing and decision-making.

Many people love making predictions. Conservative or negative, those predictions won’t affect a young player like Elanga who seems always grounded and eager to learn to improve himself.
Just keep working hard and being smart, I hope he becomes a top player. I don’t see why he can’t.

Good to see that. No reason he can't have a very solid career at that kind of level being a bit of a handful on the break against better sides.

What did we get for him? A snickers and a pack of Maoam?

He never really showed that type of confidence for us with that direct running. Maybe overawed. Stepping from United to Forest he can take on a certain amount of confidence that he's a better player than most in that squad, even if he still has to prove it at PL level. He'll get far more football as well.

Always rated him. Works hard, good presser from the front, very fast and two good feet. He seems to have a great attitude too - good on him! He will definitely score goals in the right system. There seems to be this utter absurd bullshit on here that if you aren’t good enough for a side that finishes 3rd looking to improve you’re shit.

Indeed. He does seem to possess a greater amount of intelligence than many footballers.

Absolutely, nothing can substitute actual regular game time if players want to improve and develop. We had a lot of competition at LW, so hopefully he can get a lot of minutes at Forrest and becomes the best version that he can be.

He certainly has the physical ability already, if he can just improve his decision making and finishing, he can be a very dangerous player.
