Angelo Henriquez

What's the latest? Have we signed him? Was there talk about him having done his medical?

He was pictured having his medical and a bit later some quotes appear (not from Man Utd) saying he it was his dream to join, wants to play in the first team, but is waiting to hear from United on what they want to do.

Could be numerous hold ups, Jones took a few weeks to be confirmed after his medical. Rumors are that his agent was holding the deal up, could be that we're waiting on a work permit.

Universidad have said that he will go to United immediately to play for the under 21s

Azul Azul Angelo Henriquez confirmed departure to Manchester United

Through a statement, the leadership of the University of Chile, confirmed on Friday the departure of striker Angelo Henriquez to English football.

This, clear, despite the efforts that were developed to allow the front remained the second half in the blue club.

This is the full release.

Both the leadership and the technical team of English club agreed that the player is physically and psychologically prepared to take this decisive step in his career.

Sir Alex Ferguson himself said that given the number of games his team played, Angelo will have the opportunity to challenge some of them.

The player will join Angelo Henriquez during the month of August to campus English club Manchester United. To that end, will only remain a few days in Chile to travel shortly to permanently integrate the team of renowned "Red Devils".

"Although we made every effort to Angelo Henriquez was part of our team the second half, representatives of Manchester United we expressed that it was essential for them to have him right now," said club president University of Chile, José Yuraszeck . He added that "we hope to give a farewell in the next match against Santos."

The English club Universidad de Chile informed that Sir Alex Ferguson himself expressly stated that this was the right time to incorporate the club Henriquez, given the injury of striker and the possible departure of other players in the squad. Along with this, the player himself expressed the wish to join the squad and can play and develop in English football.

The president of the U said "we understand the decision and our club Universidad de Chile is also proud that a player made entirely in our youth have the opportunity to play in one of the biggest clubs in the world, becoming an ambassador the "U" and the entire Chilean football. "

U President stressed that "with representatives of Manchester United have established an important relationship of cooperation, which have made us who value the development experienced by our players and the club."

The English club said the European Tour of the Chilean national team under 20 allowed much of the leadership Angelo could observe in detail and conclude that a player is physically and psychologically able to take this step in his career, immediately.

Manchester United made explicit that the coaching staff is impressed with the ability, personality and character of Angelo, and they will do everything necessary so that the player can be successful in your club.

The transfer of Angelo Henriquez will bring together significant funding to begin construction of the stadium of the University of Chile, whose location will be announced later this year.

Wouldn't he be better off on loan? I suppose its a good chance to assess the new under 21 idea

Huzzah. Don't think he'll get the work permit though. Maybe a loan to twente.

Are they referring to Will Keane's injury?

Playing in the reserves (u-21s), and I imagine training full time with the first team.

There's an argument to be made that training with our first team will great for his technical development, but I thought playing in games at a higher level with a degree of pressure would have been better at this moment.

Maybe they are talking about Jav . Or maybe that he will be striker no 5.

I think so. Will Keane would have been this years "Welbeck aged 18" where he is considered a first teamer, but gets his game time mostly in the reserves. With his injury they could want Henriquez to fill that role and it also allows Macheda and Josh King going out on loan.

waiting on work permit I imagine. He'll hopefully spearhead the reserves, what with Cofie on loan and Keane Injured. Hopefully King gets games and then goes on loan to a good club. People slate mutv, but if you can't get to games it's well worth it to see what the future could have in store

Cofie out on loan and Will Keane injured.
King might go out on loan too.

Great. Even though there is more of a chance that his development curve would probably be better if he went abroad, it's great that he'll be with the U21's. Easier to watch him :D I really am excited about him. Very mature for his age in terms of playing-style.

Just realised it does make some sense that he isn't going on loan to an European side. He turned 18 a few months ago, and is probably still living with his family. Signing him, and then shipping him off to a random European city would be a big step for anybody at his age.

Let him feel at home at Manchester for now. One step at a time.

Angelo Henriquez to join #mufc immediately rather than stay at U de Chile on loan, the club say

This is a surprise - certainly not what I expected.

Even with Berbatov leaving, we can't possibly fit him into the first team, which is overstuffed as it is. That means reserve team football - a big comedown from the level he's already playing at. I don't see how that benefits the development of an 18 y.o.

It would make sense if Hernandez was leaving, but that seems very unlikely. Unless, of course, the club thinks he's already good enough to challenge Hernandez and Welbeck.

He gets a chance to get used to the country and his team mates. He'll probably train with the first team too. It's a new experience and that will benefit him. At some point we might loan him out or maybe he'll be that good he'll get in the cup teams. If a player takes his chance, who knows? Can't wait to see him. Keanes a big loss for the reserves

I'll tell you this, from what he did at the Copa Lib a few months ago, I don't think he'll be with the reserves long. He'll be travelling with the squad in no time.

a slight dash of Romario and Van Basten in the mix as well.

Smaller quicker Van Nistelrooy

He looks a bit like Ruud; I don't think that they are that similar in playing style though; I think that you perception is slightly skewed because of his facial looks. He looks to have better dribbling ability, speed but a less imposing physique than Ruud; he also has a lower centre of gravity.

Which is surely expected as he's only recently turned 18 year old. Agree with you on the full though, but I still see a little Ruud in him. The way he's in the right place at the right time, his finishing and his football brain is there for all to see.

I really am excited about this one. He has many dimensions to his game - isnt just a finisher.

The U21's are going to be sensational this season.

He reminds me of higuain from what I've seen he's very complete for his age

shit dribbler.

I saw somewhere that Angelo Henriquez himself said he plays a little like Ruud, and what I've seen I wouldn't say that's too far off.

Need to see more of him to see how he holds up the ball etc before making a real opinion.

I never said that Ruud was a shit dribbler did I.

I know. Calm down, was being tongue in cheek.

The fact is none of us have really watched enough to have more than a superficial understanding of his game, can't wait to see how is all around play is because his finishing looks great.

jb mentioned Higuain - that is my shout at the moment. Though you are correct, there is still much to learn about him.

Oh, another winger/forward. Just what we needed.
Fergie is going to revolutionise football and introduce the 4-0-6?

Losing on goal difference hurt - hence the arrival of Kagawa/Powell RVP/henriquez to fix the issue now and in the future :)

You are spot on steeb! Just watched the interview he did after signing RVP, and he said exactly that.

He said we won't be losing on goal difference again, and he didn't look to be joking to me. Definitely a wry smile than one with any real humour.

Expect goals galore this season lads! SAF is not messing about this year!

Yeah, I agree. He'll want to smash the smaller teams. A forward looking a but tired or not up to it? Bring on Welbeck and Hernandez. Both Kagawa and RVP will keep Rooney at his best - and they could all feature together.

Best attacking options in the world. Best group of defenders (including up and coming).
