I would say there's zero chance of him playing. He hasn't even featured for hhe reserves yet. Jose's not going to throw him straight into the first team. He's not physically ready for it. Good to see him training with the first team though. super talent

Playing someone in a meaningless game with xy number of his youth teammates isnt really throwing someone into the team. I have my doubts about his involvement but it has nothing with his age or stature, its because he only just got back from injury. Personally id play him 10-15 minutes if he is fit.

Pretty sure he'll get onto the pitch personally. Reckon we'll see a couple of first teasers start with Pogba being replaced at half time but another senior player. Angel to come on around the hour mark.

It has everything to do with his age and stature. Brilliant player but he's absolutely tiny. We'll just have to be a little patient with him. Hopefully he moves up to the reserves next season and can continue his development at a sensible pace.

i agree that we should be patient but giving him few minutes in a meaningless game wont do him any harm, in fact it he will only benefit through it. Im not saying he should be a part of this team next season or something but this is an ideal opportunity to give some youngsters a taste of the big stage and Angel as the best u18 player in the club definitely is one of the players that deserves that chance.
The fact that he is so tiny is actually advantage for him, someone like Willock who looks physically ready but actually isnt might be in much bigger problems then him IMO

Happened before. Rashford was on the bench for the first team before he was involved with the Reserves.

In the English system players tend to go out on loan though this can be problematic as often they get left out of the side with managers opting for 'experience' and when the inevitable managerial sacking happens they can be completely frozen out by the new man. I think Gomes will be good enough to get a lot of minutes from a young age, however.

As an aside, I was really unimpressed with Sancho in the Euro final, he was trying to take on the whole opposition side every time he got the ball and didn't help his fullback out at all. It was a very immature performance. I think Spain deserved the win in the end but if not for a terrible goalkeeping howler from the last touch of the game England would have won.
Didn't watched the match but I wouldn't judge Sancho by 1 match, at this ages they need to be stimulated to be more creative, but lets see, last year from City I was impressed with Brahim Diaz from Spain, lets see how him and Sancho develop in the transition to professional football.

Regarding Gomes I will try to see if I can watch him, where will he play next season in United? Under 18 or 23?

He will probably play in the 18s & 23s next year. Hopefully we will be in the CL so the 19s too. He won't be 17 until next season and is pretty small. I was amazed that Jose said he might be in the first team 18 tomorrow. The staff at United really rate him very very highly so he could well play some first team football next season if he plays tomorrow.

Regarding Sancho. I know you can't judge him from one match, it just brought home that he still has a lot to learn. Physically he doesn't look far away from first team football but mentally he seems to.

Different scenario. Rashford was physically ready and all our strikers were injured

True, just saying players have before gone straight to the bench for the first team from the u18s without being selected for the Reserve squad.

Being small isn't really the hindrance like it used to be. Players are pretty well protected now and palace are going to be mentally on their holidays anyway.

It's not like he's playing a pub side who will be looking to 2 foot him at every opportunity.

Don't think he will start but hopefully get 30 solid minutes.

jose should be sacked because of teasing if Gomes doesnt get any minutes

It really depends how a player like Gomes decides to play when he's on the pitch. If he emphasizes his technique, control, etc... over physical ability which he does, he could be fine. For example, he would have a tougher time dribbling against players who are quicker and able to use their strength to get him off the ball.

Was gonna post here last week about wanting him on the bench, but didn't out of fear of being laughed out the forum. So glad he's coming on. Best talent since Ravel only with a much better attitude!

Think it was clear since Jose told Willock to go and sit down that he was going to get a run out. Shame he didn't get at least 15 mins.
