Yeah but world class players like Lingard and Mata are ahead of him. We don't need players that can create some goals or score them. :)
Don't forget Andrinho . Can't blame him if he doesn't sign the contract.

He probably doesnt want to sign a new contract, seeing as we have 3 clowns at his position and he isnt in contention.

Wasnt difficult to predict after pre season, Ole would probably wait another 5 years til he is 'ready' body wise. Gomes will move on and be a top player for another club

Looks like the lad is gone. Scraping 8 minutes at the end of a match is only going to lead to frustration - particularly considering that it's a position no one has been excellent at either.

We should be giving him a run in the team at least as a substitute. Far more to be gained from playing him than the likes of Lingard.

We are not going to give him minutes till he signs, he is not going to sign till he gets minutes. We will regret it. Been with us since he was 8 ffs!

He's done well in the U20 Elite league. 2 goals against Italy, changed the game when he came on against Switzerland and England got a late winner, 2 or 3 assists (if you count winning a pen as an assist) in the 4-0 win against Portugal.

Great to hear.

Him not playing is justified only if his senior replacements are doing well...They just don't.. at all.

Short term Mata is useful only in cup games, Lingard doesn't do anything significant at all and Pereira is massively inconsistent yet does now and then produce the goods.

Surely it should be Pereira vs Gomes instead of the usual Pereira vs Lingard in epl games, and Mata vs Gomes insteas of Mata vs Lingard in cup games. I don't get it.

Unfortunately his case has all the hallmarks of the Pogba debacle, at least Fergie could deliver titles and title challenges. If players that are keeping him out right now are still here in a couple years from now it only means that we would still be in this slump and our rebuild failed. He, Greenwood and Garner need to be given more minutes than they have been given, not only to keep them but to build them up as squad options as we have a paper thin squad and some of our squad options shouldn't be in the EPL let alone play for Manchester United.

He'll two games in the Europa league with United having already having qualified and should get a game against Colchester in the league cup quarter final.

Who's his agent?

Will he though? It's hard to believe he's only just got fit right in time for the England games but has been injured for all our under 23's games

On the other hand it's completely believable he's been told he wont play for any of our sides until he's signed his contract

Only time will tell.

What about Chong, has he played recently as he's in the same position?

Is this in response to anything or just you thoughts? I think he looks very talented and that United are handling his development very carefully.

I dunno, I just like to provoke... in all honesty, I think he's way overhyped. But then again, I normally struggle to like players with physical anomalities in football.

A loan to the Championship would be great for Gomes' development. He doesn't have blistering pace so he needs to learn how to cope with opponents being physical on him and how to effectively use his technical ability to the fullest.

I fear he may never suit the style of play in the PL, he will never get the appropriate protection from the refs and teams will target him for his physical deficiencies.

It's important to take into account that Gomes might also not be performing that well during training with the first team squad. It was one thing that Ole recently noted about Greenwood, which was a very good point by the manager, as young players tend to blow hot and cold as they are not used to the demands of men's football.

I'm feeling ill thinking about him possibly leaving. So dumb, just play him just sign the contract :annoyed:

England youth football is like playing in the reserves. You guys are making a big deal out of nothing, regarding him playing these games. Has anyone considered he may have just recovered from injury and these games were useful for him to regain fitness? Not everything has to be a conspiracy.

Uhm, yes it does! No you are probably right he just recovered, makes sense, hopefully he'll get some games and sign the contract!

That's just it though. If it's like playing in the reserves, and he's clearly doing well, then maybe he should start playing senior matches to develop further. It's not like a player like Kai Havertz is keeping Gomes out. It's players like Pereira.

Why have Gomes and Chong not gone out on loan to get experience like the Chelsea players have. Include a stipulation that they play a certain amount of games if they are fit and available.
