Getting Gomes to sign a new contract should be a priority now!

He hasn't a signed a new contract yet due to uncertainty surrounding his chances at first team level. He's 19 now and is a fantastic talent with outstanding ability on the ball and is deserving of a chance at first team level.Who is then please?As this is one situation that is really p!ss!ng me off.
It will come down to Ole and the coaching staff to decide if he will play a part this season at first team level which will ultimately decide his future. If not, then i'm sure many clubs around Europe would more than Welcome him with open arms. Spain and Germany would be the two likely destinations imo.

I think there is some rule about how long contracts can be when you sign your first professional one.Who is then please?

I could understand how a player his age might not want to sign a contract considering this sh!teshow we have become.
But it just seems ludicrous when a player who we've known about for years who has massive potential and a local lad has been allowed to let his contract run down so far. If what I've read is correct he only signed his first pro contract Decemeber 2017. So how the feck we only giving him 2 and half year deal or are there maximum lengths on first full contracts that I don't know about?

Gomes obviously considers himself ready to play a decent amount of first team games. The fact that he has barely had a look-in is the reason that he hasn't signed a new contract yet. Woody (rightfully) doesn't have a say in who the manager picks to play.Who is then please?
If Ole gives him a decent amount of appearances this season, he'll almost certainly sign a new contract. If Ole doesn't, he'll probably decide to leave on a free at the end of the season for somewhere that will play him.

Let's just hope that Ole and his staff do all they can, I think Ole knows how talented he is and will do whatever he can to keep him. Agree totally with your point in bold. I've heard Barca has been sniffing around years.

Has there been any indication whatsoever that he won't resign?
Hope Ole gives him what Gomes deems a fair amount of minutes. It could work in our favour that he is a local lad, living the dream playing at his local club. But I am not banking on it. I believe there would be lots of teams willing to give him a decent amount minutes, so just hope Ole and Woody do whatever is necessary to get him to sign.

.This lad has the potential to soften the blow of us not signing a creative midfielder. He could really step up and take his chance if given the opportunity.
Big chance for him not signing a winger or midfielder. Hopefully he's get them and in part convinces him into signing a new contract soon.

It would not surprise me if he gets a game at the base of midfield at some point. He has played the role superbly for England and ourselves previously.
Well Tuanzebe had more minutes than Smalling in pre season.
Gomes has already played a competitive game of football this year.
I look forward to seeing him feature this season.
Bad idea. His contract is up next summer. If he doesn't sign a new one he's off. Possibly to PSG or Barcelona.

I've not heard a lot even from sh!te rags but even though I don't like the Glazer's, I don't think they would be stupid enough to not be in talks because of how much they could potentially lose from a fee in a few years time.
The kid is quality, if Ole gives him a proper chance he will blossom.

Understandable if he wants to be sure of getting games before committing, he's talented enough to challenge for a first team place. I'm hoping he nails down the left wing with Martial and Rashford sharing the striker position.
I don’t want him to go out on loan, I’m just afraid it might happen. So, therefore I asked that question.
There are going to be plenty enough games and I think Ole knows he is too talented to let go for free. I'd play him in the cup games and use him in the League to cover injuries and suspensions and hopefully he plays really well and Ole gives him more minutes and convinces him to fulfil his potential here.
We needa give this kid a chance. Both cause looks ready and we need that contract tied up.

If he's not in the squad Sunday it's not a big deal at all. It's a long old season and he will have his fair share of chances.
If he can’t even blood Gomes into the team with mata and Lingard, and then he should be gone.

I have a feeling if he plays for the under 23s or is on our bench we are going to see quite a bit of him next year in someone else's first team
