I think they're obliged to make public any significant news which can have a material affect on the share price. Would have thought this fits the bill. Don't think there's any obligation to wait until the exchange is open to do so, mind you.

Well I think it probably not as straight forward. Transfer are a normal part of business of a football club so they are expected to happen. I think if the club had indicated already to investors and potential investors that spending on transfers could be, lets just use the 200mil figure that has been bandied about, then they would not have to make special announcements to the investing public before each signing, since the club is operating within it's stated plan. Now if they were to significantly exceed the planned amount, then some signals to investors would probably be required.

Admit it, one of you poor bastards has a di Maria thread prepped for the Manchester United forum and is eagerly anticipating the confirmation as so you can finally click create thread.

I hope you use his full name: Ángel Fabián Di María Hernández.

My finger has been hovering over the create thread button in my 'Arturo Vidal | Officially a United player' thread for weeks now. It's starting to ache.

Edit:
No, but I've had a Vidal one for 6 weeks.

Bore off mate :(

I don't like this Mendes character...Look at the smile on him. Probably making 5m plus on this deal alone.

Is William Carvalho under him? He could well be pushing for him.
Like Mendes or not, but his power in football is unparalleled these days and hardly any big transfer from Spain/Portugal is going to work without him in future!

Will they give him sandwiches cut into triangles at the hotel? He needs to keep up his energy with some healthy nutritious food. Has he bought a home yet? When do we get the picture of him next to a Chevrolet car? Is he bringing Ronaldo with him? What time does the private jet fly him down to MK Dons? We are desperate for a result...

Even 11 goals from wide areas is a better return than we've seen for 5 years. Buzzing.

Yes, no, today, no, it won't, agreed.

:)

Hope so. Mata is great offering goals from midfield and is a classy player, but I think he can do more. Somebody fighting with him for a place, or playing with him like Neville said, of the calibre of Di Maria should make him do that.

I don't think lack of competition is an issue, Kagawa is probably the best back up we have in any position. I'm not worried about Mata, it should be RVP who drops out as he's been poor for a long time now.

None of the forwards are cause for concern. They're not scoring enough goals because we're still playing with a very substandard midfield (although injuries have as much/more to do with it than lack of first-choice quality, in this instance).

It's impossible for forwards to shine when the midfield can't do its job. If we can bring in someone new, or at least get Herrera and Carrick fit and playing together, then the sheer quality of a front line featuring some combination of RVP, Rooney, Di Maria, Mata and Januzaj will become very clear. Goals will follow.

RVP has not been fit for months and months.

Another hour or two to confirmation according to SSN. Official announcement today but news conference not till Thursday or Friday.

A stumbling block which they say will not be an issue, so its not a stumbling block at all. Not being put before the media until Thursday or maybe Friday :(
