Hard to say. People are quick to forget Rooney's season where he got 34 goals and literally carried that United team on his own. He has been our main player since Ronaldo left, even with RvP coming in.

That was years ago and he's declined noticeably since. He couldn't even beat Joh Oshea in a race today.

I still can't believe they using the fee of what Real Madrid wanted as an initial fee?!

If I want to sell my TV for £400, I will ask for £450 and then work down to the price I want.

That's not true. In 2012-2013, RVP and Carrick carried the team. Rooney was merely a good part of a good team. I'd say he was our 5th or 6th best player that year, behind Carrick, RVP, DDG, Rafael and possibly Evra.

We will have a Barcelona like attacking department backed by a defense and CM (bar Herrera) more suited for Stoke

That Ogden story went up at 2 pm if you look at the article, not sure why he's tweeted it now. Nothing to worry about.

Also, we saw all these great stats when Mata arrived and he's been awful. The team around these players is important too. Look at Ozil to Arsenal, Ozil had an even more ridiculous record at RM than Di Maria

It is a strange one this I can't wrap my head around RM letting him go he was their key player last season, but yay for us!

Will go down as one of histories biggest flops unless we play him in the one and only position he is world class in which is as a central midfielder allowed to attack. Even as an offensive central midfielder he isn't worth 64 millions or anything close to that.
He will destroy all oposition and people will say he was a bargain in two years time. Oh, and playing from the wing aswell. People saying he's better as a CM are blinded by last season. We had to shoehorn him in CM because we signed Bale, that's all. He would have had his best season in a Madrid shirt playing on the wing aswell. I'm absolutely sure of that. His skill set is best suited to play on the wing.

So except for passes and tackles where he was still in the lead, he has more than the our 3 combined in every category

Not a priority indeed

Di Maria only played as a winger about 5-6 times last season though. The rest of his 27 starts he was a central midfielder...

£29 million
£27 million
£64 million

TOTAL: £120 million

Say what you want but, Ed was right about one thing. We have spent in a way we've never spent before in a window

That's bollocks, Young and Valencia see plenty of the ball infact it's been a habit of ours to play the ball wide at every opportunity, the difference will be 9/10 we get nothing from those 2 while Di Maria is one of the most effective wingers in the world.

Like the pic that has been shown of the roles Royce shows the importance of di Maria, he is the Real Madrid engine that they are selling

He has a point.

Not really, we need a winger just has badly as midfield and defence, young Valencia and nani have broken down as wide players, so that is an area we need to strengthen.

What about Rojo in that too...

£16m for Rojo = £136m

Not a bad amount spent to be fair, and i bet we'll get atleast another player in

Thats a bold predication to make.

Is it? In his 8 years or so as a pro he's not done it? If I did word association and someone said Angel Di Maria, it wouldn't be goal scoring. But I'm absolutely convinced he'll be the creative spark further up the pitch we actually need, which is his forte - carrying the ball in dangerous areas, delivering inch perfect balls and opening up space for the other dangerous players.

Massively overpaying if spending anything over 45mill.

Over Dortmund 69mill and you'd get Hummels Reus and Gundogan.

Midfielders needed cleverly fletcher young Valencia all hopeless.

Shamelessly stolen from twitter: I was astounded when Lahm retired from international football after winning the world cup. Even though he is not in the same class I'm fairly shocked that Di Maria is retiring from European football after winning the champions league.

What is this "priorities elsewhere" nonsense? How can anyone who has been watching us the past year not prioritise a bloody goal creator?

Multiple positions need attention, in attack included.

Not sure if this signing will mean anything if we don't bring in two CMs now, unless the idea is to completely outscore everyone like 2012/2013 then maybe it isn't such a bad idea. I wonder if Woodward will come out with a snarky comment if we sign him and say something about the space we were meant to be watching.
