I'm still convinced if the result today goes against us then we'll announce as soon as possible to change the mood/distract from the result.

Do we still have undisclosed fees? Or do we have to make it public to the shareholders?

I don't think the fee will be over £50m + addons. Madrid press will probably claim they got 100m for Di Maria.
Any chance of there being an official number?

The champions leauge final has added 10 million to his price but christ, were not Arsenal fans - who cares about the price?

I would rather watch a decent team than worry about how deep the glazers had to dig into their pockets thanks.

I expect an announcement tonight saying everything has been agreed and he will be a United player pending a medical which will occur tomorrow.

After the match maybe LVG confirms it and then a announcement.

This is plausible and all but you can't deem it as fact. There could be other factors that have decided his destination. We might find out.

Di Maria is a non-european player they need his spot to sign Falcao. Even if khedira went for 60m they couldn't sign Falcao.

Angel Di Maria could now cost Manchester United £75m after Real Madrid raise their asking price for midfielder
  • Louis van Gaal looked set to capture Di Maria for £60m
  • But Real Madrid have now increased their asking price for the midfielder

Manchester United have been stunned after Real Madrid demanded £75million for Angel Di Maria.

The Argentina international has made the European champions aware that Old Trafford is his preferred destination and United were growing increasingly confident of clinching the signing but the valuation has come as a shock.

They had expected a valuation of up to £56m, similar to the figures discussed by rivals Paris Saint-Germain last week, but Madrid sensing United's desperation to land a stellar signing have upped the price.

The deal is not off but, with a week left in the window, it leaves United battling against time to barter down to a figure they believe is more acceptable.

Madrid's president Florentino Perez sees Di Maria as their best chance to redress their summer spending and the 26-year-old's departure would also allow them to bring in another non-EU player in Radamel Falcao from Monaco.

They know United have money to spend and want to use that to squeeze out as much as possible.

It would represent a huge profit on the £20m they paid Benfica for Di Maria and, coupled with his £180,000 a week wages, represent a huge outlay for United - smashing the current British record of Chelsea's £50m for Fernando Torres.

The two clubs meanwhile are also in discussions over a deal for United's young right-back Guillermo Varela.

The 21-year-old was David Moyes's first official signing from Penarol for £1.75m but Madrid want him to join up with Zinedine Zidane and their B team Castilla. They have asked for a loan which could become a permanent £4m deal.

I'm thinking about mentioning my cock's current position, for the first time in my 11 years on Redcafe.
Don't do it, your forever be getting it out at the slightest transfer rumour.

For the love of god please stop going about the bloody cost of Di Maria. We lack quality, he is quality. Fantastic signing. End of. Hilarious how some on here are worried about fee's as if they will personally be out of pocket.

@Walrus

I too believe the wing-back role will be Di Maria's starting position, and having Rojo gives the option to move to a back four as and when is needed during a match to give Di Maria more freedom.

Would mean the signing of Shaw was pointless!
I believe he'll play as a winger or an advanced left sided midfielder. I honestly don't see him as a wingback ever, would be a waste of his talents!

I don't think affording him is an issue, if we were in for Ronaldo, Bale and Fabregas last season as per Moyes then something tells me we have deep enough pockets for this one.

You're not paying £64M for Di Maria? That's at least double what he's worth (or more like three times based on his wing performances).

Who do they think they are.... They best drop that Di Maria price. I hope we are kindly reminding them about RVN, Heinze and Ronaldo.

Charge them £25 million for Varela.

If only transfers worked in that way.

Fee negotiated, personal terms agreed, selling side demands 50% more.

Nonsense.

Finally a #7 that will allow people to move on from Beckham, immense signing for United. Certain he will become a club legend

Why are you so bitter?
 Jesus, I'm not bitter at all. It's just amazing that these 'lol, he snubbed Madrid to play for us' fantasies didn't take a bit more time to pop up.

I'm sad to see him go but I said this yesterday, I hope he does well for you guys.

Aye that Ronaldo chap inbetween was the worst.

Given that Madrid were happy to get rid of Ozil, then 64m is probably about right based on what Madrid got for Ozil.

Great signing for us but stupid on Madrid's part to let him go. He was immense for them last season and that combination of industry, work rate, pace and penetration was vital. In their current squad he deserves to start ahead of James.

? You probably don't like him but we had another very successful # 7 after Becks!

75 million? Is that for real? If it is...
As much as I want this guy but it seems our money is getting raped. We should just wait next season and sign Reus. Centre midfield is still the priority one at the moment.
