Ange Postecoglou

Why are the media not on his back like they were on ETH?

No one cares about Spurs...

For a few months.. there was alot of he spent 600m and nothing.

Ange has spent 420m euros with nothing, no CL, no trophy.

There is a different spectrum when it comes to Manutd. They will say... but they sold Kane. United got rid of Pogba, Cavani, Matic and many more before Ten Hag came too.

He is so overrated. Doesn’t even come off well when he speaks. He has made no attempt to fix how open they are in over a year. You can’t outscore teams in the league every week. You aren’t Fergie and United in his last season here.
How do you reckon that?

I think he does come across as arrogant, to be fair. The claims of trophy wins, the denial of any issue with set pieces. There is definitely the sentiment that knows exactly what he is doing and everyone else is wrong.

The fans will turn on him eventually, and I am sure it won’t be his fault for not even trying to fix any of the issues. Very ETH-esque.

All coaches have a bit of that hubris to them - I think he comes across as very likeable. That being said, he needs to get things sorted quickly as there aren’t many excuses left for being so inconsistent.

Brilliant goals from his team today. Another dominating half in Manchester. Attacking wise when they click they are amazing to watch.

If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle, but it's funny how one game can make such a difference to perception with the league packed so tightly and the narratives that form.

Imagine they'd beaten Ipswich and gone into the international break /today's game in 3rd.

Not just them, the same going on for a lot of teams right now. One win, loss or even a missed chance for or against from being praised or laughed at. Mad how close everything is.

Another result that will extend his tenure there, which is good news for the other teams around them.

He will lose at Bournemouth in a few weeks, but results like this one and against the hapless ETH United, will mean Spurs are stuck spinning their wheels for a long time

Was thinking the same thing. Hope they keep him. Won’t win anything.

They are spurs so not sure there is a huge expectation for them to win things other than the one he has created. Their signings are also for the future

He has got his flaws but they are exciting to watch and doing OK overall. If he leaves I don't see someone taking over who can make them challenge for big cups

Basically this.

Still, fun to watch when they get their stuff together.

The fans turn on virtually every coach eventually

Losing to Ipswich at home and then thumping City is very Ange esque. Hes at the perfect club really. He won't get into top 4 this season but theyl have some fun games and maintain relevance through that.

Lost to Palace, Ipswich but beat United and City away from home. Spurs fans are probably happy given the football they had to watch under Mourinho, Nuno and Conte (and even Poch in his last year).

He suits Spurs. Another Martin Jol.

They're a bit like a slightly shitter version of the Keegan's Newcastle that challenged us for two seasons in the mid 90s.

It won't win them trophies, but they are really good to watch under Postecoglou, you never know what you'll get.

They've scored the most goals in the league so far (27 goals with Chelsea's 23 being the closest) and for all the talk of their defensive woes they have the fifth best defence as well (could go higher if ourselves and Newcastle concede goals tonight). If I were a Spurs fan I'd be a bit frustrated with the inconsistency but overall I'd be enjoying the ride and hopeful that Ange can slowly improve the weaknesses.

A lot of knee jerking going on with the Ipswich loss, there are some games they did not deserve to lose, but that is football. Look at the City game, on balance of the stats you would say 2-2 would have been a fair result, yet it ended 4-0 to Spurs. Still very inconsistent and prone to some terrible defending, but I guess Big Ange favours attack minded football from his wingbacks, and they are not picked for their defensive nous.

What is the expectation for Spurs fans? They lose Kane and they expect to be competing for top honours? Id be happy watching a proactive attack minded team after the Nuno, Mourinho, Conte era and the coma inducing football they played. Maybe a push for CL football would be at the upper most limits of expectation, they would be delusional to think they should be challenging for the title or some such.

I also dont think the team improved that much from last season in regards to new personnel, for me Solanke is not a massive upgrade over Richarlison. And to be fair they are both no where near Kane's level.

They are 4 points off second, in fact from 11th to 2nd is only 6 points so they are well in the mix for a CL spot.

Right back down to earth again the very next game. Wheels well and truly spinning.

Managers usually don’t survive much longer when the fans turn toxic towards them.

That's terrible from the fans. I get that he's a bit stubborn, but they're 3 points from 5th which is where they are most of the time.

This league is brutal. How can you thrash City 4-0 and get dominated by Bournemouth? The levels needed to be a top 4 side have never been higher.

I think he's a good coach but doesn't really have a plan b for when Spurs don't have the energy to press like maniacs.

They've scored more than all but two teams and they've also conceded fewer than all but two teams... and they're somehow 10th.

Spursiness defies mathematics.

:smirk:

Their defending in the second half was up there with Southamptons against us, don't think I've seen such a display of wasteful finishing as I've seen from Bournemouth tonight and this is coming from someone who sat through 2018-2023 Chelsea.

Usually I'd be excited about our upcoming game against them but Spurs have had many random masterclasses already this season so it won't be as easy as people think sadly.

Next game is against Chelsea at home, they'll probably win that one and then lose at Southampton.

Spurs have had a few dour coaches in recent years (Mourinho, NES, Conte) and they weren't happy because the style of football wasn't "the Spurs way". Then they get a manager who makes them one of the highest scorers and most entertaining teams in the league (despite losing their all time record goalscorer) and they're still not happy!

I hope they get Moyes next.

This makes it even more annoying that we faced them pre-Amorim when we were playing kamikaze football under ETH.

I think he’ll get sacked in February.

Didn’t he say two months after taking over last year something to the extent of ohhh I don’t know why managers always complain about not being able to play a certain style or that they don’t have the players to play a certain system. He said just play your system mate.

Well why isnt your team playing well in your system mate? Oh this preseason he said he has always won a trophy in his 2nd season at a club. Looks like that’s not going to happen either now is it mate?

Bournemouth is not an easy game. They’ve already beaten City and Arsenal this season. They also underperform their xG. They’re going to give us a proper game in a couple of weeks.
