Ange Postecoglou

And I'm saying it's being very generous to say it was okay given the money they've spent. Looks like we're not agreeing there though.

They've made similar mistakes to United in the transfer market. They've spent a lot on players for two or three seasons down the line, rather than getting in players that improve the team right now, which is what they needed.

My inital response was to someone who said the form hadn't really dipped post injuries, when it's clear the results for first 12 games (19pts) are twice as good as the results for the next 12 games. (9pts)

We can agree to disagree how we view the actual results in those first 12 games, that's fine, i totally get that.

I do agree with you that they've spent a lot of money, and i do agree they've not spent it very well in terms of needing results for Ange in the here and now. Again though, i'm not sure how much of that is Ange himself, or a club strategy.

If they sack him now, the likely scenario is they install an interim like Ryan Mason for a few weeks and see if they can persuade 1 of their targets to join just now, if not he'll be in place until the summer. That's why i think they'd be as well sticking with him and see if the form improves when they get their injured players back. I take it your point is that even if their form improves to previous levels, you don't think that's good enough?

Fair enough.

I don't really see the value in them sacking him now either, for precisely the reason that they'll just end up with Ryan Mason.

I think it's a Ten Hag situation for them. He might get binned in the summer, and if he doesn't, they'll be doing it early next season and wondering why they waited.

You take Son out of this team and they have very little quality. Kulusevsky is the only Spurs player I would really like at United. Rest of them are much of a muchness.

You say that, but Son has been one of our worst performers all season

Hes got 6 goals and 7 assists over 21 games in the PL. Even if he isn't having a great season by his standards hes still contributing a fair bit.

So pretty clear he stays on until our game now, I would say?

At least they don't get the new manager bump, but I'm still not all confident in a win.

Looking at the Spurs forum, not a lot are blaming him this season. They are blaming their constant injury list and also Daniel Levy.

Think there is more pressure on Levy than there is on Ange by the sounds of things on the forum.

Absolutely feck all is going to happen to Levy though. He's the chariman and owns 30% of the company that own Spurs. There is zero actual pressure on him.

Brennan Johnson has 7 goals and 2 assists in the PL - 12 goals in all competitions to Son's 10.

Despite this, he has had to turn off his socials at one point due to poor overall performance.

Are you suggesting there is logic to football fans behaviour or ire towards certain players?

Yeah, you've said that. It was me that said it's okay.

I don't think they've spent their money well, that's a different issue and maybe not down to Ange, certainly not solely. The likes of Bergvall, Gray, Odobert were teenage, long term signings. That seems a strategic thing.

I agree they have not spent their money well, way too many youth signings, you can understand a couple for sure but look at Spurs squad, Udogie, Kinsky, Odobert, Moore, Gray, Sarr, Tel, Bergvall

Exactly, and Son is on the decline at 32, but then you see the Spurs fans thinking they should be competing for top 4 or 5, the team now is nowhere near that level, even without injuries.

That's the same with us though, and was the case last season too.

We've spent loads of money so people think we should be a CL team at minimum, but the reality is that most of our players are crap.

Edit: It ultimately depends on what angle you're looking at it from. From an investment perspective, Spurs (and us) should be top 4/5. From the perspective of squad quality, probably not.

I wouldn't be so bold as to suggest such a thing.

It would be as bold as suggesting fans of my club are so intolerably moronic that I can't stand to use a forum dedicated to it .

Maddison would have been useful. You have to hope that ten Hag or Amorim would have used him more effectively than Postenotgotaclue.

Whether that hope would have come to pass, though...
