Anelka at West Brom | Sleeve Touching/Homage/Hate Swipe Controversy

People in this thread seem to be forgetting footballers are mostly morons. He could have easily done it as an anti establishment act. Either way, not too bright and should be punished.

As far as comedy goes, people should be able to say what they want. I don't see anyone trying to stop Jim Jeffries from talking about punching women in the face when scores of women die every year from domestic violence.

I love this country and can't wait for 2017 so that these clowns go. Sadly, the state of france in 3 years will be dreadful, They will be remembered as an all time low in French politics.

Perhaps there are different laws in France. I am not up with French law so, I cannot make a comment (as long as I pay my taxes and don't commit crimes then I am ok) unfortunately. In England, we are much more sensitive than the French.

As for their politics, Holland is a great example to the French people, which I am sure you are already aware of. He makes George Bush look like a saint in comparison.

I think Hollande has been getting a rough time in the British media over the Gayet scandal, if that's what you're referring to. He was single, right? Or at least unmarried. Trierweiler is a glorified prostitute whose relationship with Hollande started when they were both married, so she can hardly complain. If I were the president of France and unmarried, I'd have all sorts of women on the go. One for every day of the week.

Don't know where you got your information from, he has never been married. He has four children with Segolene Royale without being married and is awaiting a 5th I believe, again, out of wedlock.

Edit:

Getting back on topic, I think it is very important to actually deal with the problem as soon as possible. Just give him a three-game ban and a fine, then warn him about future conduct.

I see. Trierweiler was married when their relationship started, though. And Hollande was living with Royale. So it seems she's just had a taste of her own medicine.

It still doesn't get Hollande off the hook. A President has to be a a good example to the people, and to be honest, the only reason why he got in as President isn't because of his qualities (or lack off) as a politician, but because it was simply a protest vote against Sarkozy. If it had been someone else from the right other than Sarkozy, I don't think Hollande would have won. That is my take on it anyway.

Actually I agree on the point about honesty. But do we even know the nature of Hollande's relationship with Trierweiler? Maybe there was some sort of agreement that he could feck around, even if she preferred he didn't. What we do know is that she left her husband for him, seemingly without much regard for the woman with whom Hollande was in a relationship and with whom he had a family...and has since been enjoying the fruits of being the 'first lady', with accusations of excess and even embezzlement. So it's hard to find sympathy with her.

The thing I find puzzling is the expectancy of the French media to stay out of the private lives of politicians. I'ts utter bollocks. People have a right to know what their politicians are getting up to.

And he left his girlfriend with 4 children...So, yes, for me they are both wrong, just not one party.
