Andy Mitten: United carried out an investigation into leaks from the dressing room

He is a pundit and ex player who knows almost all the young players, having off the record conversation is not same as leaking info to journalists.

Do you guys believe that players don't share info about club/dressing room with their friends and families? Scholes just said some info which he shouldn't have, it has nothing to do with Lingard. Scholes made a blunder there.

Scholes is not in the same category as other ex players. He has chosen a career in the press. No player can surely be that naive to not realize that.

It quite clearly wasn't off the record though. Otherwise Scholes wouldn't have said "I'm sure Jesse won't mind me saying..."

The fact that Mitten states the club are happy these leaks will reduce next season suggest that said player(s) are leaving. Using Occam's Razor we can deduce its one of the free transfer crew and with other briefs and bits that have got out in recent weeks it looks highly likely Lingard is leaking info the press.

Didn't Scholes come out a few days later though and apologise for exaclty that though? I would hardly be surprised if Lingard was one of those leaking to the press, but the Scholes thing wad more than likely a chat between old and new player that was expected to go nowhere.

Why are people saying Scholes is in the Press? He's not a journalist, he's a pundit, he's there to give commentary, not report on news.

This thread is like reading the celebrity gossip forums.

"I knew it was Lingard" - Says person without knowing if it was Lingard

this quote sums the side up.

"The players are also culpable. They let Ole Gunnar Solskjaer down in his final two months, but they’re also very frustrated by how they can’t speak out about Rangnick to answer some of the public criticisms he’s putting their way"

Instead of taking it on the chin and accepting responsibility, they are still trying to blame Rangnick and clap back at him. Meh.

Truth fecking hurts lads. Rangnick was absolutely right to give both barrells. A few home truths have been badly needed.

The press is a general term nowadays to refer to the media which includes pundits. Apart from that if you want to limit the term to the written press then Scholes has also penned his fair share of articles for newspapers

I would argue they have the chance to speak out every single week on the pitch but instead prefer to give their current manager more shit to beat therm with instead

Didn’t Scholes literally mention him by name saying the team was unhappy? I mean, it can’t get more clearer than that surely.
He said they had a quick chat!

That's very different to saying 'he tells me everything about the dressing room'!! :wenger:

So its evident that Lingard has on at least one occassion leaked dressing room morale.

Bit daft to suggest there's no proof.

Why would scholes say that?

“Get a load of this lads, you will not fecking believe what Jesse just told me!”

He literally said Lingard told him it’s a shit show being the scenes, how he told him is irrelevant

Several journalists all tweeting articles at the same time a few days ago about Lingard being furious he wasn't given a send off and that ETH would be wasting his time trying to talk to Lingard because he's made his mind up and wants to go.

It's fecking obvious Lingard is one of the players leaking stuff and having chats with journalists.

Not the only one I'm sure, but come on. He's clearly been at it.

My favourite leak was “14 players are leaving in the summer, it’s a shit show here. Oh and me and the lads think Jesse should play more” - anonymous.

There’s plenty of leaks that suggest it’s Lingard
There is literally zero evidence to suggest its Lingard other than people claiming it is because they just don't like him.

The simple fact is the leaked lineups etc also happened in 2021 whilst Lingard wasn't even with the club!!

A leaked lineup is no where near the same as someone telling the press about the changing room dynamic.

We’ve had multiple cases this season where the press as a collective have dropped articles about the dressing room being a mess and players leaving at the end of the season because it’s so bad, with a line in each one saying “and the players believe Lingard should be playing more”, literally the only player to get named in the articles.

Then you’ve got Scholes outing him for exactly the same line of the dressing room being a mess.

And on top of that his cryptic social media posts whenever he’s in the headlines.

If you think he’s getting unnecessary shit because people don’t like him you’ve got your head in the sand and have done for some time.

Doesn't mean he is leaking stuff though does it?

From 'we had a quick chat' to 'he is leaking everything to the press' is a bit of a stretch do we not think?

That's very different from leaking info to press. Players know other players and ex players. They talk about stuff, like what's happening around. It's different from leaking info to press.

It would be unrealistic to assume there are players who don't share dressing room things with their friends or family.
Once stories like, "players not happy about Rangnicks treatment of Lingard." start to appear you have to wonder if there's a, you scratch my back I'll scratch yours policy going on. I think the answer is clear.

Why are you so adamant it’s not Jesse? Despite the overwhelming suggestion from everyone that it possibly is, you’ve decided to adopt a massive case of contrarianism. Let’s flip this around, you prove it isn’t him.

The bolded part is exactly why he is classed as the leak! People don't like him.

You are assuming and guessing with no evidence to back the claims up other than you don't like Lingard!

What's to say it isn't Shaw or Rashford? Both friends with Lingard, and probably feel he should be playing more!?

I would argue they have the chance to speak out every single week on the pitch but instead prefer to give their current manager more shit to beat therm with instead
Exactly. Won't answer it with results but excuses off field. They need a reality check, deluded by money, fame and yes men.

There's plenty of evidence to suggest it's him. Why would Rashford go out of his was to speak to the press about Jesse not playing enough? How does that benefit his career? Why don't you make a case for why it's not him instead of just saying "You've got no actual proof!"

Easy to the bolded part,

Prove it is him?

If you can't prove it is him them he isn't the leak!

Its not contrarianism, its simple facts, people are guessing it's Lingard based on heresay and Scholes having 'a quick chat' with him whilst on punditry duty at OT and the fact that they don't really like him!

Its a stretch to then claim he is definitely the leak when there is no real tangible evidence.

And you can't prove it isn't him so I guess we'll just have to wait until next season until we hear about how great or bad the dressing rooms of Newcastle/West Ham/Stoke are

He has been at United for his whole career just about, he has nothing to gain by leaking stuff to the press, how does him leaking 'I should be playing more' further his career?! Why would Rashford not say that? Its his friend who I am sure wishes he was playing more!

The leaks were happening whilst he was at West Ham also.

The report given has suggested the leaks will be 'less of an issue' next season, which doesn't suggest that the person/s responsible for it is leaving, it could just be that they know who it is and have disciplined them accordingly,

So we are agreed that it isn't him as you can't prove it is, yeah?!:lol:

It's bad team morale that breeds these things in the press. It's not something as sinister as Deep Throat leaking stories in clandestine meetings. Players will bitch and whine to their friends and family when things aren't going well. Even the guys laying the cones on the training pitch and the dinner ladies will know if team morale is shit, it's not exactly a big secret. The team sheet leaks are another story though, that was quite worrying.

They must have found a decent plummer in the area. Good to see the club finally getting it's house in order by making these appointments.

Except he doesn't want to leave United. He's underpaid *comparatively to his mates who are on at least £100k more than him. So he's run his contract down in an attempt to get a bumper Woodward special, only for the people in charge of contracts to get fecked off. On top of that, he's not been played so he's not even been able to prove that he deserves a new contract. So he has nothing to lose by telling the press whatever he wants, in which all stories are signed off with "and Jesse should play more...".

The leaks were probably coming from Rashford and Lingard. I'm sure they would have kept in contact during his West Ham days. And after this summer, most of our self interested players will have been moved on, so I doubt said person will still be around.
