Andy Madley

He should be embarrassed by that penalty call - had a great view of it too.

Football twitter and general social media is going in on him. No one ever cares for United, so that just says everything.

Such a bad penalty decision. And it wasn't only about penalty decision... Hope he won't be refeering United games again or at least not soon.

We've had some awful refereeing "performances" against us recently, but this was particularly, and transparently, awful.

Genuinely needs looking at. But there seems to be no official route to question referees bias and God awful performances.

Still, we won 10 v 12 which makes it all the sweeter. Loved the fight today.

The maddest thing is aside from calling the penalty “harsh” neither the live commentary or post match analysis have made any reference to his performance despite social media being alight with harsh criticisms

He was infuriatingly bad I thought. That penalty call was the shits and it seems like everyone knows how bad he was.

The club genuinely deserves some sort of answer about this. The worst case scenario is that you have an actively biased official (from outside leeds) or a corrupt official. The best is that you have one so incompetent he cannot referee in the face of a large stadium without trying to keep home support on his side.

Factor in all our own biases, and the usual football fan hyperbole, for me thats among the worst performances ive ever seen from a referee and it simply cannot be allowed to go uncommented on. I have no idea how we won that match.

Imagine if you were a kid growing up in England in any part in 90's & 2000's, regardless of who you support there is a good chance you hated United. All of that seems to be coming to hurt us every week now

I said it at half time but Arsenal completely reffed that game from start to finish.

Every tiny contact they'd fall over and he brought it every time. They'd scream as if they'd been shot and he'd pull out the yellow as quick as possible. They mobbed him at every breakdown and he simply didn't have the spine to cope. Pathetic display

Dalot was silly of course but we actually did incredibly well to get through that with a single red given the way he booked half the team for absolutely nothing

Must have placed a bet! No other reason for his shit decisions today

I know every fan of every team probably feels that certain referees are against them or biased in certain respects, but that performance today really truly felt like some sort of corruption. The two bookings for Dalot were correct in my opinion (the second just for the way he tackled) but it felt the referee almost made the game go that way against us by constantly making frustrating calls against us. The penalty was a ridiculous decision. Is there any reprimand he should face? Do the refereeing bodies call a meeting with him or anything and ask him what happened? No referee can be that poor.

They'll put it down to sour grapes from United fans.

I’m not defending him because he made a few really bad decisions but that’s actually quite even, considering Arsenal had 70% possession.
You don’t think it might be a little chicken/egg and the different standard of refereeing applied to both teams contributed to that stat?

Take the Colyer header in ET, we won the ball in a dangerous position and he inexplicably blew the whistle and gave Arsenal the ball back.

neutral here, but I thought he was appalling from the get-go and seemingly many others unconnected with either club thought so too

We'd have been better off with Richard Madeley.

In all seriousness, there are poor referees, then there are biased referees, and then their is bent referees. This looked like the last one, all game.

The worrying thing is that refs are now taking control of games to please themselves with impunity and zero repercussions and 100% protection. Almost as though they’ve collectively decided that they should be the starnifnthenshiw. Long gone are the days when it was said the best referee is the one you don’t notice

We’ve been screwed by ref’s and VAR this season a few times but this was one of the worst refereeing performances I’ve seen against us in a long long time

It's those little decisions that influence a match, like not giving fouls for one team and the same shit results in a yellow for the other team and letting Arsenal got away with their antics.

He might be missing one hand when he refs next because his pay masters won’t be happy that Arsenal lost.
