Andreas Pereira to Valencia? | It happened

I'm gonna wait on this one, a week ago he was signing for Valencia the next day despite being sat at home in Manchester, knowing nothing about the move.

Just because someone puts 2+2 together about his former coach doesn't mean it's a dead cert. We also have 7 games in 20 days coming up, he'll play at least 2 of those.

Update:

'No Pereira for Utrecht, as Mourinho will not allow him to leave. Utrecht are now aiming to loan Matty Willock.'

The best progression to see is:

1. Perform in youth teams (done)
2. Loan to Division 2 level club (skipped)
3. Loan to a decent club (done)
4. Get sub appearances and cup games for 1st team
5. Full season in 1st team

To now go back to a second tier club would be madness, even repeating a loan in a decent league would be questionable. He needs to be showing our own coaching staff what he can do at this stage in his career.

I think he needs a year in the PL. Surely there are plenty of clubs that would take him? Huddersfield? Palace? I could even see him at a team like West Ham or Southampton

According to Plaza Deportivo Pereira will remain at Manchester united.

The future of Andreas Pereira is close to being solved and according to confirmed sources from the footballer's environment to Plaza Deportiva, the Belgian player will continue one more season in Manchester United, ie will not move from the orders of José Mourinho.

The Portuguese coach has expressed his confidence despite not being with him in this initial stretch of the season and has assured that although he does not have the necessary minutes at Manchester United will progress , which was opportune to follow his orders.

And is that Mourinho has been one of the main responsible for Pereira, in principle, not leave Manchester. The Portuguese coach wanted to make sure that if he let the player out he was to play a high number of matches and he wanted it guaranteed by contract.

This was what seized the operation with Valencia CF that did not want to compromise to align by obligation the footballer, which after several days of negotiation has finally been decided to continue in England, so that the Valencian entity must seek an alternative.

He's at the stage where he needs to get more games than he might be afforded at United this season. The amount of game time TFM got last season worries me.

I rest my case. Can only trust journos with a very solid track record when it comes to our transfers.

I think his experience playing many matches in a top league last season makes him more likely to see action than TFM last year. I think this was a big reason why Mourinho sent TFM out on loan this year as he needs match experience to supplement training with the first team.

Seems like a fairly measured and patient approach from Jose. Not bringing in another CM aside from Matic or another wide right player into the squad suggests that there will be minutes and opportunities afforded to Pereira during the season.

If he can't even make the bench then what chance does he have of getting actual game time. When it becomes time to rotate the squad that's when the likes of Herrera, Fellaini, Carrick will get minutes. Pereira will probably get bench time at best, with the odd start against the likes of Burton Albion in the League Cup

We have 6 attacking players currently and are playing 4-2-3-1, although I see him in midfield, what sense does it make to loan him now, unless we get that winger? None. Mourinho would have to be crazy. But I grant him he, at least, can count.

We have played 3 games out possibly 55 or so games this season and people are coming to definitive conclusions about his playing time. Its a long season, we need the depth, there will be injuries, players in and out of form, rotation etc. He will get game time.

We've been playing once a week so far. I will hold my judgement till after the international break when we have 7 games in 20 days.

I really hope this 'has a first team role' is more akin to what Rashford/Lingard got last year rather than what Fosu-Mensah got. Being in and around the first team during training and going to away games is great and all, but minutes are what counts.

This. Surprised there's no takers in the PL. If he's staying then I hope we have good cup runs for his sake.

I can't see any space for him.
He could easily take a job on the wing and make bigger impact than Lingard. He can cross and maintain possession pretty much in every sector of the pitch.

I hope Jose will give him full 90 minutes against Burton for an easier start and perhaps few against Basel or Everton. Of course not saying he's a first squad material but he can offer something that Mata sometimes can't.

Would not mind to see him on the right wing at all. Mata always has to cut back to his left and then whip in a cross of play it into the corner to Valencia, who then crosses it right into the first opponent in sight.

Pereira is 2-footed and I would like to see what he can do with his crossing from the right.

Actually, 4 games. But you're right. Although, after the international break there will be no chance to loan A.Pereira. I feel it very much depends on how competitive a team Mourinho will feature in the League Cup (my hopes on a complete second team) and how willing he's going to rotate between Premier and Champions League's games (I'm predicting very little, at least at the start of the season).

Exactly. In terms of creativity, he should be able to produce some goods for Lukaku, combine that with bursts of pace and energy and this is what right flank was lacking from quite a while.

He also got some slick trickery about him and that fits a winger profile, even more.
