Andreas Pereira - SIGNED FOR FULHAM

Tells you everything that this lad has managed to make 100+ appearances for United yet the fans of a (no disrespect intended) team in a much weaker league are unhappy with signing him on a cut-price deal.

We're losing out because we fail to market our players. Unless they're superstars, get them on loan in a weaker league at 19/20 and then flog them whilst they still have 'huge potential'.

If there is substance to this hopefully United already have a binding contract and won't back down. The way it was being discussed was as though the deal was done and contracts signed and the only formality was registering the deal with the Brazilian FA which if that is the case would suggest Flamengo don't have an out. Of course, we are an incompetent shitshow where transfers are concerned so we probably have left them a lovely big loophole to exploit.

Nothing recent about it in the news, but the Brazilian national league doesn't start for another month, the window remains open, and they already have Andreas until the summer. I think Flamengo is just a little uncomfortable with the price, esp. with his form dropping off after he dropped an absolute clanger in the Copa Libertadores final.

Also, Flamengo not being able to land a deal for Everton Soares will probably mean they're looking for an alternative, which could be part of what's dragging it out, since it needs to be squeezed into the same budget.

Might also need a new right back now, because Mauricio Isla called in sick with 'flu symptoms' for the game yesterday, and then posted a video of himself partying.

Anyway, I hope they still land the deal for Andreas. He was a solid addition to the team last year. Win-win for all three parties.
I think if United agreed to a few million less it would've been confirmed by now.

United have already effectively cut the asking price in half so at some point they need to draw a line. You can argue about what he is worth but teams have been crying poverty and robbing us blind for years on our outgoing transfers and it won't stop until we show a bit of backbone. Looking at some of the deals in the last 12 months I am pretty certain we can get 10M Euros from someone for Pereira if Flamengo do decide to walk away.

Yeah, I don't disagree with that.
Was just trying to look at it from Flamengo's perspective.

If you look at it from United's perspective, you have club that agreed to 20m as a option to buy, and now wants to pay half of that, originally less than half.
So it'd be easy for United to walk from the deal, and look elsewhere.

Honestly, how could they expect otherwise? Just look how his teammates fold like a deck of cards under even gentle pressure.

Damn, thought this was done. We'll be forced to take even less.

"""With many pundits in Brazil claiming Flamengo should give up on buying Andreas Pereira from Manchester United, today we get to see Everton being pointed out as a good destination for the midfielder. The 26-year-old is having a loan spell at the Rio de Janeiro side until June. And despite an option to make the move permanent for €20m, the clubs reportedly recently agreed a new deal worth €10m.

With Andreas Pereira having quite poor form at Flamengo, and with their own fans frequently booing him, there’s now an urge to forget about this agreement. And live on SBT, pundit Pedro Certezas named Everton as one of the solutions Manchester United could find for the midfielder.

“It’ll be better for the player and for the club if Andreas Pereira leaves. No matter what he does, he will always be scarred by the mistake in the Libertadores final. And he still has a market in Europe, at a second-tier team, like Lazio, Everton,” said Pedro Certezas (via Bolavip).

“He’s not playing well here in Brazil and what he did against Vasco you can see that it has full psychological influence.”"""

Only found a few English sources, on PeoplesPerson, and SportWitness in English.
By Everton they mean Everton Soares at Benfica. Flamengo went to Benfica after they agreed on terms for Andreas. They wanted both.
Haven't seen more credible sources confirm United 'dallied in finalising the small print'

Tbh, his form has taken a nosedive since last year. Most of the noise lately have all been that Flamengo should call off the deal.
Also had the fans booing him against Vasco (rivals) after he made a mistake that led to them scoring.

To get even £10m for him would be some of the best negotiating in world football. He is utter garbage and I think would struggle in the Championship. He needs releasing and forgetting about.

Another player we clunged into for far too long under ole, the perfect time to sell him was after his loan spell at granada when his reputation was at it's highest

Bit of non-news, but Flamengo announced the signing of a centre-back yesterday, and Braz was asked about Andreas. He basically dodged the question, and said something along the lines of 'the Andreas situation will be spoken about at the appropriate time, when there is something to talk about', 'What you've read and heard before, you already know'.

Also reports of Flamengo intending on registering him for Libertadores, but I wouldn't read too much into it, because the group stages are played before the loan expires. One page wrote Andreas still believes the deal is going through, but I believe that's taken from a while back when things were looking more positive.

You have to wonder if they're just trying to keep Andreas happy, or just want to see him bounce back to form before committing.
Would be strange if the deal was held up by United.

Also, Arturo Vidal has been in the media again, declaring his wish to play for Flamengo. He spoke about it last summer too, and a few months ago. Seems really eager to move, and plays in a similar role to Andreas. (would be a free signing as his contracts run out)

I think it’s clear that they have changed their mind about him. At this point we should ask for 5m and see who bites

Baffling how we hold on to absolute rubbish, wasting a fortune on wages in the process.

Getting rid of him on a free years ago would make more sense than this...... Getting a fee would be even better. Just get shut of him.

Is he still on Utds books, bloody hell, here lays the problem with the club. Just fecking sell him even if you get a tuppence and a bag of penny chews.

Flamengo president spoke about it, 'Andreas is a Flamengo player until the middle of the year, we have a contract with him and we like the player. We have had a lot of conversations with Manchester United.'

From the rest of the article, seem they want Andreas, Andreas wants Flamengo. Flamengo is just awaiting the end of a legal dispute vs. the Central Bank and before pledging the funds, but by the sound of things they're still planning to complete the deal. Would explain the delay, even though they've spent on several other players.

This is however the same paper that said they were just waiting for a few days before filing the registration.

Because why wouldn't an agreed transfer fall through because of the other teams incompetencies? So I guess we gotta find a way to sell him again

There's only one thing we're worse at than playing football and that's selling players.

He's been playing well for Flamengo so i'm a bit surprised at that in all honesty.

Politics and the scarcity of funds for them, and seems like the fans don't want him at the club the poor chap.

I think this summer should be a straight sale and no more loans for him. Had enough of being mugged off by the buying clubs.

He was decent up until his mistake in the Libertadores final in November. Been a liability ever since.

If theres one expertise related to transfers that United have, we seem to know how to annoy the feck out of the other party be it seller or buyer. At our own expense.
