We don’t have a choice but to start him right now, but damn he was bad today.

Starting him isn't a great idea.

Starting him in a 2 man midfield is mental.

If he's anything he's a 10, and that even comes with a question mark.
Starting him with Fred in midfield was theorized by fans over 10 days before the match. On page 2 of the match day thread 5 members: Havak, Rifer, Majima, Rifer, buckooo1978 all posted teams with 3 centre-backs at the back and Andreas + Fred in midfield flanked by wing-backs.

I hate it when managers play players out of position in a formation which doesn't work. Ole needs to come to an agreement with Woody along the lines of if we sell 4 can I please have all the money back to buy 2 players in January. A squad without a proper defensive midfielder is daft.

There were plenty better options @MetoTTT

Personally I’ve had played Axel at DM, he’s experienced there and is a damn site more suited to the role than Andreas. Plus, OGS had a full international break to drill Axel on the role for this away game.
Tuanzebe wasn't ready to start, damn it. I've seen people say it was a mistake that he was brought on as he was seemingly not fit yet after that talking how he should have started? :wenger:

Pereira should not be starting after January, we urgently need 1 CM and 1 CAM, it's just impossible to play good football without adequate players in those positions.

If Axel wasn’t fit to start I’d have gone with Jones there, Andreas at DM was always going to be an absolute disaster especially alongside Fred. It was pretty much a case of anything but Andreas.
Carrick would’ve done better.

Should be noted that on the second goal, the pass from AWB was bad, on the wrong foot and not particularly smart when Pereira was moving in the opposite direction. Difficult to control the ball under these circumstances.

Can someone tell me what position he plays ? He isn’t a CM CDM or a number 10 and I’m pretty sure he isn’t a winger either. What is this lad good at ? Bang average.

I think it's a bit out of order calling posters out by name like that.

Love that “on the wrong foot” he’s a professional footballer! He should be able to use both feet! No excuses..

Axel or even Garner would be better options, even Jesse looked a better option. Yes he was terrible, good job for him Jones was absolute dross, so he could escape the spotlight.

Very poor today but we kinda don’t have too many options in the midfield. It would be best to test him at least for a few weeks and take the heat off.

The problem with Andreas and Fred combo is that both wanted to be ball carrier, instead of simple passes, they tend to dribble/dwell with the ball too long.

They could never work.

I just don't know why he's a Manchester United player. He's simply not cut out for this level. That Ole actually decided that he forms part of our main choices for central midfield going into the season is truly baffling.

I agree. Too many ball carriers in our squad in general. No one seems to be able to pick precise passes or provide shield to our defense consistently.

Very poor yesterday. He wants way too much time on the ball, as if he hasn't adjusted to the pace of the PL. He moves the ball slowly too and gets pushed off the ball far too easily. Given those faults I don't see how he can ever be more than a bit part squad player at best for a PL club.

He's the type of player that turns up to train for your Saturday league team and looks brilliant in training. All the time in the world to do a drop of the shoulder and curl one in to the top corner................ In a high paced game wit some intensity he just isn't good enough. Take an ok set piece but he just isn't very good.

Not sure why we started with 3 at the back. Surely would have made more sense to play 451 with Fred, Garner and another in CM or at least Andreas could then play number 10. Clubs in a real mess.

Hope we buy CM in January, he is no where near player we want.
And sooner this experiment over is better.

Granted he was played out of position, but jesus he was bad yesterday. His basic control was shocking, especially for their second goal. I fail to see what he adds even when played as an AM. I would've liked to see Garner in his role today.

Oh come on, it wasn't that terrible a pass that he should be miscontrolling it the way he did, he's a professional footballer!! It was a complete cock up on Andreas' part.

He's not a CM that's for sure. He's a number 10, an ok squad player with room to improve.

Bad/Careless passing happens all the time with us. Most of our player’s dont care about how the receiver will get the ball, as long as its in their direction.

Wouldn't even keep him as a squad player. That term should mean something. Hernandez and Park were proper squad players. Periera simply isn't good enough.

I see your point. He did decent enough in the last few games as a 10 and still has room to improve. Ideally we would have better players, i agree.

He was absolutely terrible but the lad needs to be coached. I think he's a better player than he's showing but I think that of a lot of our players.

As long as Ole will play him we will be poor.

To be honest the guy would not start a single game for 15 out of the 20 PL clubs.

He's a shame, he's poor and doesn't provide anything

Our new Lingard, maybe poorer

Needed him to step up and take ownership today. He did exactly the opposite. His future here is as squad filler. Nothing more.

Has to be the worst individual performance from one of our players in a game this season? I guess there's that 45 minutes from Jones - but at least that only lasted for 45 minutes.

I think I would've played Jones in midfield and had a coin toss on whether he'd be playing alongside Fred or Pereira.

Holysh*t,things are bad.

I've said this before but i'll say it again. Ole had more than half a season plus pre-season to fully judge pereira...yet for some inexplicable reason he decided this player was good enough to be in a Manchester United squad?! Jesus wept.

Obviously he was shit yesterday, but everybody complaining about him being in the squad or playing at all seem to be forgetting that the reason he's in the starting team at the moment is that Lingard and Mata were even worse for the first couple of months this season. Pereira eventually got a chance and comfortably performed them.

Yes I'd definitely prefer Gomes to get a bit more of a chance, or for us to play Pogba ahead of the two midfielders when he's back. But if it's a choice between Pereira, Lingard or Mata, I'd prefer Pereira. In saying that, Lingard has been slowly improving in his last few games so maybe he'll move ahead again.

He was shocking. Just show the state of this squad, not even close to being good enough to warm the bench.

We are bare bones and fair enough Ole has starte the season with the idea that andreas can play cm to cover.... but it is getting ridiculous now. For all the sticks ashley young has got over the years, andreas at CM is about 3x as bad. I really hope it doesn't continue beyond january... pogba will be back and we should sign depth in Jan

This is what i thought too, but overall he had a really bad game.

Was speaking to a friend of mine who is an Arsenal fan, and he mentioned which actually it seems many fans are saying now that United academy must be vastly overrated. Lots of hype about players but when you see them play they are not even that good. One of his major examples was Pereira who far years had been getting rave reviews and was earmarked as some sort of saviour for United creativity in midfield for a few years. Lots of clamour for him to get minutes under LVG and Jose, well well well turns out he is shit...
