It's a joke he's not on the bench, maybe he's ill still. Makes no sense
was he ill lately? think mourinho stated that everyone is ready except rojo didnt he?

but seriously what kind of joke is this that we play some absolute dross mcTominay ahead of actual player. Really hope Andreas will keep working hard and wait for his chance under a better manager, it's coming soon anyway

Mourinho said he's played right wing for Valencia, but impressed him in Matić role at the start of the season.

Now Matić has regained his place (with Fellaini back also) why not give Pereira chance on the right, don't think he would be any worse than Mata.

Ah but people were critical last season when he made the decision to go to Valencia. Should have done the same this season. Never a favourite of Mourinho.

wtf is this thread, there's a meltdown every time he doesn't make a start. He's made 2 starts and 2 sub appearances which projects to around 30 apps over the season.

30 apps for a top club is much more valuable at this stage than 40 apps at a club not trying to compete at the top.

It was alarming he didn't even make the squad vs Derby.

Pereira being one of the unlucky (or lucky?) group of players that go 'missing' for three months of the season must be a guarantee.

Cue many discussions surrounding attitude (well he mustn't be cutting it in training!), haircuts, eyebrow shavings and body language. I'll also enjoy those games in which he comes on for ten minutes and they are thoroughly dissected second by second. Did he slightly overhit one pass? Or was it two?

Six months later, he still won't have taken his chances, Fellaini still receives nothing other than relentless positivity in the press and we still continue to play some of the most feral football in the division. That's how I see it.

Mourinho must be unhappy with somebody (while tolerating mediocrity elsewhere) and I can't look past Pereira being one of those chaps.

Just quoting this as I think we’re heading in this direction.

Huh? My point was that last season it would have made sense for him to not go on loan. Which is something you seem to be retrospectively disagreeing with. With Fred in the squad this season it’s just made it harder for him to get games.

My point was if he cant even make the bench vs Derby I'm not sure it matters that Fred is here or not.

Pereira not being an option on the bench is baffling because he's the only midfielder close to imitating something of Pogba's technical capacity and style. When Pogba isn't playing well he's literally the only midfield alternative who can use the ball in an intelligent way (assuming Fred is already playing).

Joke that he's not even on the bench again. He should leave for the sake of his own career, if Mourinho is going to stay. Though I guess there's hope for him since hopefully Mourinho isn't far from getting sacked.

I hope he rides it out till mourhino goes - De Boer was right about him being the worst manager for young players.

It's not surprising considering how under pressure he is really. But let's be honest, it's because he's not one of Mourinho's favourites, despite the fact he offers more than McTominay.

And people complained when he decided to go on loan last year.

How is McTominay a better option in anyway apart from height?

Should be in squad at least, one of our own and he would defo raise his game for this one.fellaini and matic together is too rigid and slow for me

Not sure why he can't even make the bench at the moment, should have gone back out on loan really. Harsh but really don't see what McTominay offers that Pereira doesn't.

McTominay is seen also as a CB option by Mou.

Disgraceful that he's not getting a look in. Our best player in pre season. Technically one of the best players in the whole squad. And this is how he gets treated? Jose still has a grudge I think because he left to go on loan last season but that was justified anyways because he wouldn't have developed into the player he is by sitting on the bench. We know Jose's ego. He doesn't like to be proven wrong.

He was played there once, can't imagine that before West Ham he was ever seen as a CB.
Yeah, but after saying he was the best of the 3 CBs against West Ham, I can see Mourinho using him there again. He really likes the kid, even though I never understood his talent.

True, sadly he was extremely poor at CB so if Mourinho does see him as a CB I worry.

We need him or Fred in the team. Fellaini can only manage a pass to the person next to him, and Matic just ambles.

We just need a proper, modern central midfielder. Someone who’s strengths lie in what they can do with the ball. Two of our starting three have main strengths in another area.

Desperately needed someone with this guy's skillset tonight, criminal negligence that he wasn't even on the bench for insurance after starting with that midfield.

Yes, one man closer to the Mourinho dream of a team full of Ents. Our decision making in attack would make the entmoot impatient to be fair.

Pereira should be getting used, frankly a midfield of him, Fred and Pogba looks to be better balanced than what we put out tonight, some pace, energy and ability to get the ball moving from deep. Would mean taking a risk on inexperienced players but it might actually create some enthusiasm and tempo in our play.

Does not compute.

Disgraceful that he's not even making the bench instead of fecking McTominey.

I guess it's too much to ask for Mourinho to drop at least one of Fellaini or Matic despite being shite and taking 10 years to pass the fecking ball to a teammate 3 metres away.

Funny how he started out as a striker and now he’s ended up as a centre back. Just sums up Jose really.

You believed this rubbish? He was at fault for 2 goals, Jose was trolling

It's because he doesn't really do anything wrong, which is only really because he doesn't really do anything most of the time. He gets the basics right which is fair enough but will never offer more than that.

McTominay playing always feels like a pawn move by Mourinho to me.

First it was to show that he promotes youth. Then when Pogba played shit, it was to show him that he’s not untouchable and that he must perform better or he’ll prefer even McTominay over him. Now it’s make a statement that he has no decent CBs.

I just can’t fathom that Mourinho thinks he’s genuinely a good MF never mind a CB. He’s either a pawn in Mourinho’s game or Mou has completely lost his marbles. There’s no 3 option.
