Eh, Simeone seems to be getting great performances from lots of guys. Juanfran for Spain, Filipe Luis for Chelsea and Brazil in particular come to mind. Also Torres being useful, Carrasco looking the finished article for Atletico but not at Monaco months prior (age/experience might be the reason here) or Belgium.
Either way, a smooth player like Gomes makes more sense. Arda really has no place in a 4-3-3 for a top 2 or 3 club in Europe. I think he'd do well for lots of teams, like in the Giacherrini role for Conte at Chelsea, plugging a hole at RW for us (could push Martial up high and play a sort of Real Madrid with Ronaldo 4-2-2-2) or for Arsenal.

I don't rate him that much, he was good until that long injury and after that he hasn't really picked kicked on. But in terms of style, i think he suits Barcelona, surprised people think he doesn't suit their style.
He's an unquestionably talented player. That said this move is a bit shit. Doubt he'll play anywhere near the number of games he needs to play at his age and will probably be sold next year. Barca and Real love to sign players for no bloody reason.

The only reason I believe Barca announced the deal so early is because he was a Real target. Other than that I see no other reason.
TBF, all our deals this season were sorted very quickly. Digne deal came out of nowhere.
Now only if we could also offload some players as well quickly. Know anyone who needs a Lord?

On his form (Gomez) he is worse than any Barcelona's starting midfielders. The quality gap between starting and subs are huge at the moment for this Barcelona squad though. Maybe his potential is high considering big clubs' scouts seem to rate him. Barcelona had done well to pay that low (in current market) in cash while offload some surplus off their paybook.

They were linked tbf yes, but not recently and no one reported it was in any way at an advanced stage.

I watched half of Valencia games last season because they were in a very bad streak and I was betting on them winning...I really saw nothing in this guy. He looks like Cleverley to me. He is calm on the ball, does not lose it and all those attributes but I cannot see why he would cost so much. He was very mediocre for Portugal in the Euros as well. Maybe there is something I did not see or he is capable of much more and they know that. I have no idea what the case with him is but I do not rate him that high from what I have seen...
