Wow.. This is not an encouraging review. Just like your previous reviewed on Malacia, which is spot-on so far.
I was right about Malacia, but I also predicted Martinez would not be able to compensate for being short and that was a bit off the mark :wenger:

We are like that person who goes into an expensive clothes shop, looks and monitors extensively what’s on offer and then fecks off to Primark to buy a pair of jeans and a t-shirt for £12.

Why do you think this knowing we’ve spent more than any club in the world in recent years?

 Yeah, that's fair. I couldn't be more wrong on Martinez' height either.

surely that had nothing to do with a certain bias.

This is us now, sorry I should have been more clear. I know more than well what we have spent. We were paying 2 and 3 times what players were actually worth and then paying them enormously stupid wages. Currently though I think we are absolutely skint because of years and years of shocking transfer decisions.

So yeah we can look at all the players we want but until we sell someone of note and make some actual money we’ll be penny pinching like in the January window. I’m glad we have Mount of course but I still think we paid 10-15m more than we should have on that deal.

I'm very worried that all we are hearing is Italian sources saying they expect mufc to "bid soon". I think I've read that for a week now.

This is really feeling like inter using the press to push an Onana sale and quite possibly we only had a chat with them about possible figures and haven't settled on bidding for him.

Nothing I'm reading screams mufc gunning for him.

I really hope this isn’t the case, but it’s giving me Kim Min-Jae vibes.

MUFC is going to get Costa or Onana we've been scouting both over a season now.

Yeah all the news from our side makes me think we are leaking excuses for not signing Hojlund or Onana unfortunately.

Our scouts must have the easiest gig in sports. They’ve had the last 3 summers off!

When was the last time they actually discovered a player through scouting? Cant remember anyone.

Scouts don't sign players. Which players they have scouted, prepared reports, recommended is not out in public.

Also we tried to sign Haaland, Bellingham, Caicedo, Julian Alvarez and few other young players. We also had Martinelli on trial. So scouts are doing their work, they don't have power to sign a player.

In the case of Onana, it is more because he is highly talented, the right profile and attainable.

EtH had a lot of success with Ajax, complete with those deep CL runs coupled with how they played. He knows what he's looking for and don't think people should doubt him much.

@Adnan the floor is yours
I'm getting tired of explaining the same things over and over again. I'm not worried about the scouting because the scouting at the club is strong from what I've read about the scouts and who they they're and who they've discovered in the past. And every player that is being signed will have to be ratified by the likes of Jose Mayorga and Simon Wells who are currently the head scouts after they replaced Bout and Lawlor last year. And the scout in charge of the European contintent is former Ajax scout Henny de Regt. We will sign players of all nationalities and from different leagues. I'm not worried about ten Hag targeting Eredivisie players because I'm a firm believer he should target players like Onana, because Onana will help us evolve as a football team.

I was disappointed with the likes of Mourinho and Solskjaer who I feel could've done more to target some very talented players from Portugal and Norway. Players like Bernardo Silva and Cancelo joined Man City without us seemingly challenging City for their signatures. And even though Solkskjaer attempted to sign Haaland, I feel he missed a trick with Martin Odegaard.

Klopp at Liverpool has signed countless players who are either associated with the German or Austrian Bundesliga. Their latest signing is again from Red Bull Leipzig, and it's due to those players being ready made for his play style. Below is a list of players Klopp has signed who were either directly or indirectly associated with the German or Austrian Bundesliga. Sadio Mane was a player that the Liverpool data analytics team deemed him not good enough in 2014, but Klopp overuled them and signed him on the basis that he had followed him since he was playing at Red Bull Salzburg. And the signing of Coutinho came about after Brendan Rodgers bought the player after a scouting recommendation from Lee Congerton who was a personal scout of Brendan Rodgers. And Liverpool benefitted immensely from that signing due to the stupidity of Barcelona who shelled out €140m for him.

The top 5 in the list were signed in Klopp's first summer window in 2016.

Sadio Mane
Ragnar Klavan
Joel Matip
Alex Manninger
Loris Karius
Naby Keita
Xherdan Shakiri
Takumi Minamino
Thiago Alcantara
Ibrahima Konate
Ozan Kabak (loan)
Dominic Szoboszlai

The only thing I'm worried about is the ownership situation right now. Because in addition to Mason Mount, I feel we need at least another first phase midfielder, striker, and GK as a minimum requirement. But you can have the best scouts in the world, but they'll only be as good as the investment that comes down from the owners. It's not difficult to sign good players if everyone is working together towards a clear and defined way of playing the game. But you need consistent investment from the very top to succeed against the wealth funds.

Players like Declan Rice, Caicedo, Lavia etc are our targets in this window imo. But we can't sign them in the current window. I think we're going to go on a spending spree late in the window with potential new owners in place by the start of August. I think the Glazers will make a decision in July.

Ten Hag is a bit obsessed with Ajax isn't he. De Jong, Antony, Timber, Martinez, now Onana..
I think he wants his style of play to be implemented as quickly as possible and them players know exactly how to play it so will help the rest of the team.

They discover players all the time. Its up to management to act on their recommendations or not and our managers over the last decade have had amongst the the worst eyes for talent.

i think you're a 100% right on this .....Glazers will have set an initial budget but i don't think they will go over it while in the middle of this prolonged sale situation which could mean we don't add that extra midfielder we clearly need
