Well that's 100% spot on fair enough

What's getting me is certain posters coming in here acting like there's absolutely nothing to be concerned about and any of his past career is all 100% legit with no red flags what so ever
New signing stuff, always happens. But at the same time, I think you'll be surprised at how big of an improvement he'll be. He's a brave goalkeeper, he has no problems dealing with crosses (not that he's Courtois with it, but it's not a weakness like de Gea), he's a solid shot stopper (not peak de Gea, but de Gea isn't what he used to be either). It's more about being consistent and not dropping clangers in big games which Dave had a habit of while Onana does tend to step up in big games. Easier to make up for a mistake in smaller games.

The passing out from the back goes without saying, he's up there with the best around with it, and for sweeping a lot is system based and instructions if the coach wants him coming out more or not, but his Inter spell does clearly show a keeper who can restrain himself if asked to. At Ajax he had tons of sweeping actions, at Inter not that many.

No player is perfect, but he is far more suited to a big club and I really hope it gets done. I had bigger concerns with Diogo Costa due to age/adapting to the pressure of a big league, as that's a huge variable. Onana has shown it on the big stage, Costa has had limited time but did have a really bad world cup. Could be nothing, but also it's just less of a risk with Onana. Can't say I've seen enough of Costa to know how he is in the air or if he's as good as Onana with the ball at his feet, but I'm very happy with this one.

I've linked 2 and sat you down now jog on. I wont be responding to your fecking shite posts again.

Inter training ground fight! Romelu Lukaku has to separate Andre Onana & Marcelo Brozovic as Nerazzurri prepare for Benfica Champions League clash | Goal.com US

Let me guess another mistake that we all make??

"THE BIGGER PICTURE: Training ground spats of this nature are common in football and none of the coaches giving the session looked unduly concerned"

The very article you linked, happens all the time on the training ground.

Do me a favour and put me on ignore.

Muppet.

I see a fair lot of posters here doubting his goalkeeping abilities. I guess those posters haven't seen much of him, he is fecking class

So apparently Onana is very good at ball distribution, sweeping and handling crosses…
How are you taking this news mate? I know you were very fond of De Gea but I hope you go easy on Onana if we sign him.

Yeah? Ajax was glad to see the back of him he's got more mistakes in him than I don't know what.

According to FBref De Gee made 5 errors this season, Costa made 4 errors and Onana 0 so you really don't know what. Ter Stage had 3 and Raya and Ederson had 2 each for a little more context.

Costa's Save % was also only a little higher than Onana's with it being 78.6% compared 76.4% so he's not even miles better than him at that, again sadly De Gee is at 71.7% for the season.

There's a reason he's the number one target.

I would be delighted if Onana is signed (provided he indeed is excellent in aforementioned qualities).

Even if I liked de Gea (and I sure did), I am not blind to not see his shortcomings

Onana signed for Inter on a free on July 1st 2022.
Ten Hag was announced as United manager April 2022.

Why did Ten Hag not want to bring in Onana then?

He must have known that De Gea cant play out of the back.

Probably because he didn't.

Onana agreed to join Inter back in 2021.

He didn't know DDH couldn't pass the pall?

Watch any United game for the past 10 years and you can see that De Gea cant pass wind!
Clearly ETH didn't, which is why it took him a whole season to realise that he can't do that, AND his shot stopping has declined.

There is no way you can be this dim? This question has been asked 50 times in this thread.

Hopefully he's our next signing. Then a stiker (and free/cheap midfielder like Rabiot or Amrabat) to come after a few sales.

This will be our most impactful signing this summer. Glad to see non-Italian pick this up now, feels like things are happening.

Saw a little compilation of ...absolutely horrific errors from him.
Not as long as De Gea's 1 season clip though.

And even City and Liverpool's guys have produced some hilarious howlers the last few years.

Mount, Onana + Kane would be fantasy land.

Onana will give me a heart attack at some point but definitely completely changes our build up ability and I’m ok with that.

Onana, what's his name
Onana, what's his name
Onana, what's his name. What's his name. What's his name.

How good a shot stopper he is? Because we will be seeing a lot of “De Gea saves that” this year if he isnt that good.

I kind of want my goalkeeper to be a nutcase and I think he fits the bill. Will be a big change from calm Dave.
