Great with the feet, but average, very average keeper (De Gea is better). Waste of money.

Why did Chelsea back out of the deal? Is the price ? For 40-50m that's a pretty fair deal for him. Other GKs of that quality are priced higher

They're apparently willing to accept installments which would be more than fair after how long it took them to pay for Lukaku

That's normal, that's how transfers are paid. The absence of installments is what should be reported(when it's the case) because that's not usual, that's why for example the transfer of Javi Martinez to Bayern was big deal, it was a big fee paid without installments.

300k pounds less than DDG

Yep! Also, Maignan is on the ~same wages... Costa is on 28k...

Didn't reports emerge that they will stick with Kepa and Poch is happy to have him as number one?

Going from a keeper who never leaves his line to one that is never on it will take some getting used to.
Get your bets in for how many games it takes until a teams lobs him and the caf decides they want someone new like Oblak.

Onana plays higher

Onana na na na na na na na na naaaa na

To the tune of Rockstar by N.E.R.D:

You think your defence line's okay
You think pressin'
Will save the day
You think I don't see
That you're running
Better call your boys
'Cause I'm coming

You can't press me
I'm Onana
I'm dribblin' here, there and all over
I'm a baller and my long pass pops far
Your press is bypassed now
Your press is bypassed now

I guess
You ain't heard that I break the lines
It's too damn late to apologise
When you see Garnacho running down the left side
Your press is bypassed now
Your press is bypassed now

He does have a mistake in him but he is better than DDG

A week ago, 99.9% here were like let's sign Onana, he's the best keeper ever bla bla. Now we interested, he's sh*t.

That's the cafe. We yearn for a player and look at all their positives but as soon as they're about to sign we focus on the negatives and rate other players as better buys

Those beautiful line breaking passes from both Lisandro and Onana. ETH knows how to handle Onana. Costa is a good keeper, but Onana is a better option against top sides.

I mean, it kinda makes sense. We are awful in the transfer market in general so when we are actually going to sign someone, it stands to reason they are going to be a mistake. The comparison is the transfers we remember that we don't do or other teams complete which turn out to be great in hindsight and we forget everything else. We forget the 75% of everyones transfer business that turns out poor.

The 10-minute long passing compilations are great and all, but how good is he at actually stopping the ball going in?

Any concerns about him being unavailable whenever AFCON comes around? There's 3 AFCONs in the next 4 years....

I've never watched him closely (why would anyone watch a GK tbh) but some of the videos of him coming out into defence/midfield look horrific! and as soon as one of those goes wrong at Old Trafford he will be crucified by the media.

Gives me Fabien Barthez vibes...could go badly wrong.
The positive is it’s easy to teach a GK not to do some of the crazy stuff he’s done previously.

The hard part is teaching a GK to pass and start attacks like Onana does.

Not sure but I know who I’m captaining in FPL. Can you imagine the assists and bonus points!

Good. He's a good shot stopper, very good at dealing with crosses, can be a deeper but also is tactics tell him to he won't sweep much (didn't have many actions last season by the numbers), but best is his ball playing where he's up there with anyone.

Here's 10 minutes of saves in 18/19. His best season yet:

What about the African Cup? Missing your main GK for some games in middle of the season is not small thing.

We probably want to keep De Gea around as a #2 hence the hold up around him as understably De Gea won’t want to be #2. So we’ll be in the market for one of those too I bet.

Only watched the first 2 minutes where it shows his aerial ability but this is what I want to see more than anything to be honest. A goalkeeper confident claiming crosses.
Weird sound to the video also don't necessarily agree with some of it but at least it shows dealing with crosses. Don't think you can make a de Gea comp that makes him even try any of those

He's also saved 7/33 pens, shade over 21% so pretty average/normal in that. Though de Gea was good at them at the start of his career then went 5 seasons without a single save, so...

he fits the type of keeper that Erik wants, he's more athletic and commanding of his box than DeGea....what more do you need to know?
