Who would cost way more due to English and United tax...but fair point.
He's in the last year of his contract, I don't see Barkley costing more than £30M tops.
It's not that hard. There are 100s of players that would be an upgrade on Lingard. What we need are the players in the top bracket of those 100s of players. That he ain't!

He's more of a #9 than a #10. We do need another of those. Although I am far from convinced he is good enough.
Depends, we desperately need goalscorers. If he's a second striker type of #10 then he would not be a bad signing. If we sign some squad players who can get 10 goals a season that would be a pretty good investment imo (provided they don't cost too much)
There is no way we are getting another #10 without moving Rooney in my opinion.

We actually don't. We need to add genuine goal threats to our squad and attack and he is a genuine goal threat. I'd happily add him to our rumoured 4 man key player purchase of Lindeloff, a 6, Perisic and Morata. He'd be a more useful Version of the current Rooney right now in our squad for example

Besiktas have not been informed of Manchester United's interest in Anderson Talisca and claim the Brazilian is set to spend another season on loan at the Turkish giants.
The Benfica forward caught the eye while on loan at the Vodafone Arena last season, where he scored 17 goals in 33 games for Senol Gunes' side.
After sending a come-and-get-me plea to Jose Mourinho last week, Turkish newspaper AMK reported that Talisca had agreed a move to Old Trafford .
But Besiktas official Metin Albayrak claimed that the Black Eagles must be informed of any potential deal - which has not happened yet.
“Well every players dreams of playing in the Premier League or La Liga but Talisca has another year with us,” Albayrak told Turkish-Football .
“We have to be informed of any transfers, it cannot go ahead without us at the table, we have not been informed of a Man United deal.”
Talisca, whose style has been likened to Brazilian great Rivaldo's, is valued at around £15m by Benfica.
The 23-year-old admitted that chance to follow former team-mate Victor Lindelof to Old Trafford would be too good to turn down.
"It's a love that exists, I will not lie," he told Globoesporte. "It's a dream, something all players want.
'But it [a move] does not depend on me alone. It depends on Benfica, my representatives, who are dealing with the situation. But soon, soon, they will have the news there.
“It’s something that all players want [a move to Manchester United].
“I had a good season and, as I said, his [Mourinho's] love is old and I like his work as well. I hope everything works out.”

At the price being suggested coud be a very useful addition to the squad but are Benfica going to allow 3 players to United this window?

Lindelöf will probably be the only one, and Talisca (23) is still on loan at Besiktas for next season, so it doesn't seem Benfica value him that highly either?

I think Besiktas may be overstating their involvement here, Id imagine there is a already a clause in the loan agreement that allows Benfica to recall after a season as long as Besiktas are compensated accordingly or something to that effect. (if not then its a shocking deal from Benficas point of view). If Benfica decide to sell one of their players then can't really see Besiktas being able to have much say about it.
Need a goal scoring threat then we might as well get James Rodriguez.

He will probably be sold, but I would be surprised if it was to United. He is talented, I have no doubts about it, but is also dumb af. When he joined Benfica, in the begining of the season he was playing in the attack and scored a lot of goals. Then, was moved do CM and was really average. He lacks a football brain for sure and I hope Benfica sells him before the end of the contract. He had bad behaviour with the club and was loaned to Beskitas. Just saw his highlights of this season and he looks a monster with his amazing shots(he definitely has a great shot). Hope someone buy him, cause as someone wrote before, he is an youtube player.

He is perfect for the PL then. Tall, good header of the ball and a great left foot. Also no brains, but that is not that much needed at a midtable PL club
