Anderson Talisca

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Besiktas has an option to buy him for 25m €, but his actual release clause with Benfica is 45m €.
I didn't hear or read about 45 m € clause. Might be true but I doubt anybody would pay him that much tbh.

That's the thing, he has a great shot and takes set pieces really well but in the game he is extremely average.

He doesn't offer anything special but extremely average is harsh. He is not a liability. He wouldn't stop our attacks like Rooney did at the beginning of the season to say the least.

Woah those are quite strong statements from the player. That boosts this up to a very possible signing. Maybe a cheap option that still leaves the door open for Griezmann next year. Sounds like negotiations have started, and we have been linked with him repeatedly, perhaps our scouting team are supportive of this.

Yeah I guess this could work - at a low price (in today's market) and good age, I rather see someone with more goal threat than Lingard who takes up good positions but seldom does well when the ball comes to him. Or worse - seeing Rooney on the pitch huffing and puffing and swearing at refs (even in a bloody testimonial that was not even his...)

Not bad but I'm not sure he is good enough for United by any stretch. If he manages to replicate anything close for his home club, then maybe it is worth talking about. He and his agent are probably just driving up their stock based on comments made by José over 3 years ago. Just my imo.

Yeah the fact that he was loaned by Benfica is quite worrying. Still let's wait and watch, nobody has linked him with us apart from himself.

Average like Lingard average? If he plays anything like Lingard, but offers more goal threat, sign him up for a good price I say.

No, like Charlie Adams in his prime.

According to what I read,he was loaned out as the new Benfica coach played a 442, thus limiting his games as a no.10 to only 6 games.

Be honest, you know that it's not harsh. As long as you don't give him two days to shoot from outside the box, he is pretty much useless. He is the midfield version of Taye Taiwo.

Maybe we are now starting to contact the various alternatives to Griezmann, he maybe 3rd or 4th alternative even. Should be a bargain so worth a punt. Perhaps as a Fellaini replacement. He is 1.91m and regarded as good in aerial duals but maybe a better goalacorer than Fellaini as well as a better #10. If he replaced Fellaini I can get on board this.

So he is slow and cumbersome like Adam?

No, he isn't slow but he has a good shoot and he is good at taking set pieces. He has no understanding of the game though and his technique is inconsistent.

Heck he could even come in as a Rooney replacement. Imagine him, Morata, Perisic,Pogba waiting for a set piece in the box - all aerial threats without counting our CBs.

Sounds like Obertan - so poor off the ball movement and runs into a lot of blind alleys? You watched him play for Besiktas?

We do need a set piece specialist. Also having a long shot ability would make parking the bus against us harder. And his height will and work rate will suit Jose's style particularly instead of the late Fellaini sub. Probably score more goals than Lingard or Rooney.

I have watched him play for Benfica and a little bit for Besiktas, in my opinion he didn't improve.

Watching all his goals, think I counted 5 from direct free kicks which is very good, 4 from headers and they were well directed and powerful, and a bunch from long distance. He sure has a sweet shot on him. Also seems good at long distance passing. I can see him being a good buy, adding something to our game and making us more dangerous.

Sounds like a tactical squad player and one who can score goals. We were short in midfield so this makes sense if the fee is cheap enough.

Fair to say Jose likes his players to have a bit of height if this is true. So far he has signed Bailly, Zlatan, Pogba, Lindelof, looks like Morata will get done. Mkhy is the only short arse!

I don't know much about this guy. What I do know is that when a player really wants to play for a manager and a manager really wants a player to play for him, that usually forms the basis for a successful venture. From his comments, it looks like this might just be the case here. If James Rodriguez is no longer an option, if he is a step up from Fellaini and Lingard, and if he is a dead ball specialist, then I am fine with him.

I do see some similarities between the two but Pereira is better defensively and can play as an #8 but Talisca is more of an SS/#10. Poor man's Griezmann. A stop gap signing.
Fair enough, is he good enough to be a starter or more of a goal threat from the bench? Could be brought in as a preferred plan b over Fellaini.

You can skip this one lads, nowhere near good enough for a top club.

Holy shit dude. Them free kicks :drool:
Yeah, that and the shooting from the edge of the box jose could be looking at him as a potential lampard type player. Thats assuming of course that he is genuinely interested.

I wouldn't read into the fact the youtube video's look great.

Personally, my concern is the fact Benfica felt he needed a loan move.

Sometimes you're good in many aspects of the game, but you dont know how to score.
Sometimes you're erratic in many aspects of the game, but you have a lot of weapons to score goals.
The capacity to score is a value in itself.
We are in 2017, not in 1982.
There's no such a thing like: "Harry Kane ONLY can score goals and nothing more"...
To know how to score is EVERYTHING in the modern game or you will need to line up a team with a colossal technical superiority, like Real Madrid.
You NEED people who have weapons to score.

For example: even if you prefer to watch Douglas Costa when he's in his days, its better to have Perisic, because he can win you some games/points.

I've seen his clips before and he looked like he had potential. Can see him ticking a few boxes for Mourinho a number 10 that can arrive in the box crosses, pace, strength and shooting.

The fee wouldnt be so much that it stops us signing Greizmann in 6 months or a year. See what happens.

The guy has no footballing intelligence, he was not even a starter for Beşiktaş. Nowhere near United's level. Mourinho was interested in him when he arrived at Benfica and was scoring loads. But even there he started to show how limited he was, and Benfica's manager Jesus dropped him.

If we want a physically robust but mentally challenged #10 then we might as well go for Barkley.

Good lord! Nothing against Talisca, but the transfer media is really going for the low hanging fruit with this one. He's maybe a Crystal Palace level player in the Premier League, and would make for a poor (not to mention bizarre) signing for a club of United's stature. The papers have likely rehashed stories of Mourinho's supposed 'interest' in him at Chelsea, and Louis sending his 'top scouts' to watch him at Benfica, in addition to the player's own blurb about playing for United:
Chelsea are looking to blow Arsenal out of the water with a mega offer for Brazilian wonderkid, Anderson Talisca.

Calcio Mercato (h/t Metro) reported Jose Mourinho will offer £37 million for the Benfica starlet, who has drawn comparisons to both Rivaldo and Yaya Toure.

The newspaper stated "a deal [is] thought to be close" for the player, dashing Arsene Wenger's hopes of capturing the 20-year-old.

However, Steve Bates and Neil Moxley of the Sunday People, via the Mirror, recently reported Manchester United have entered the race for the attacking midfielder, with Louis van Gaal sending his top European scout to Portugal to watch Talisca.

They also didnt rate bernardo silva and moved him on though so that may not be that relevant in this case.

They did rate Bernardo, of course, everyone in the club could see he was going to be special. Then manager Jesus didn't, and wasted him and Renato Sanches. That was the main reason he was told to leave, actually.
