I believe that was Scholesy.
He was special.
He is special, his twitter is full of wonderment.

This is exactly the problem. When we lose possession they both get drawn to the ball, often leaving their man in acres of space to run at our helpless defence. It's easy for the opposition to pass around them whilst they chase to no avail. They both run a lot, but its ineffective and no surprise that there have been a few occasions where they're subbed off after 60-70mins because it expends a lot of unnecessary energy, that could be avoided by better positioning when we aren't in possession.I like Ando, and think going forward he gives us something only Giggs provides at the moment from that part of the park (and no, not unnecessarily risky passes that never come off). But.
He should never, ever be paired with Cleverley again. Good lord it was like watching an U10 match from the sideline, yelling at the kids to stop chasing the ball and pay attention to where they are on the pitch.
It should be so simple - pay attention to where your midfield partner is. If he's out pressing the ball, than for f*cks sake don't you go running out too. Must have been half a dozen times in the first half that Cleverley and Anderson chased past the ball, leaving Sevilla a clear run at the back 4 (resulting in two of the goals).
It's so basic ffs.
Who do you guys think would get a start in midfield next week against Chelsea alongside Carrick? Ando or Clev?
I think he will go with the safe option Cleverley but wouldnt be surprised to see Jones somewhere in thereWho do you guys think would get a start in midfield next week against Chelsea alongside Carrick? Ando or Clev?
Personally I think Ando is a much better fit next to Fellaini than Clev if Carrick doesnt play.
I'd rather Ando played further up this year.

Hopefully we'll never see a Fellaini-Ando duo in midfield. I think it will be painful to watch. Both of them aren't that good at passing and take the risky option very often. For me it should be Carrick-Fellaini, Carrick-Anderson, Carrick-Cleverley and Fellaini-Cleverley our only option (in this order).
Fellaini-Anderson I think would be a safe card if they were both playing defensively, not Ando making his bursts forward constantly.
They won't. Both of them likes to go forward and make those energetic runs. Neither of them is very good at passing. Both of them are reckless and can waste the ball. The only worse combination in our midfield could be if we add Giggs to the duo of them.
Do I want him to stay? No, he offers next to nothing. He can't score to save his life, and he hasn't progressed in the slightest.
He's just collecting cheques. I'd sell him for 7-10 million.
Problem with that is United already have 2 players who play in that position. Rooney and Kagawa and I'd rather have Januzaj get game time in that position if it is possible.

Nobody is saying that he's a guaranteed starter there of course. But opportunities for Cleverley and Anderson to get minutes in more attacking positions is more beneficial to their development. Obvious comparison to Welbeck in that if he plays up front then he's more likely to get confidence developing as a striker. It's nice as a player to get minutes across the park in uncomfortable roles but in general they are always going to benefit in the area of confidence and control when they are playing in their comfort zone.
I still feel that Cleverley and Anderson playing beside Carrick are in roles of 'doing a job' (much like Welbeck playing left forward) and not natural positions for them to build on their confidence and identity.

Me thinks Fellaini would get the best out of him. I still think though that signing Hearra would have marked the end for him.
I think Anderson is the new Phelan and the title to this thread should be changed.
"Anderson - What does he actually do?"
err. finish off our food supplies every night before leaving for home?
In terms of goals, he's actually been our best CM for goals in recent seasons, both in outright numbers (8 to be precise) and in terms of goals per game (7 of that 8 came his last in 30 starts or so). It's just that those appearances have been, well, rather spread out, shall we say. Funnily enough, Ando actually has a pretty good chance of making his 200th Manchester United appearance this season.
He also has the highest chance of any of our players of being spotted wearing a Fellaini wig.
How does that work? Earlier he had 2 CMs ahead of him, now he has 3. When Carrick gets rested, it'll still be Clev who starts with Fellaini if fit.
