I  think  Goldenpishsplash  should  put his money where his mouth is  and request a perma ban  should the Herrera transfer go through
I want this signing to happen. As I have maintained had Moyes sucked it up and signed him last season our season would have been completely different.
@goldenstatesplash, what the hell does MIRV mean?
Multiple Independently target-able Re-entry Vehicle. In the case of Journalism it's a single article that appears in which it is re-reported by media outlets around the world with no new information. Basically 'the headline says its happening but the article points to that single source as to why' without actually reporting anything. Hence, MIRV.

I disagree with things that are either wrong or unrealistic. Expecting United to sign 4 new central midfielders, all of the quality you've just mentioned, isn't even remotely realistic. 2 out of them and you'll be doing well.

I like you, you're a sound fella, but I wonder what planet you're on sometimes when I read your posts in the transfer forum. You come up with the most ridiculous want lists of players, say this is what we should be doing, and then get annoyed when it proves to be impossible.

I like you too Nev, but i dont get annoyed just because someone disagrees with me mate. I actually welcome it if its a good argument. I was totally against Van Gaal coming here & after conversing with the good folk on here - probably you also, i changed my mind. I was wrong & wasnt lookin at the bigger picture of how he operates & creates a fantastic team spirit in the squad - same as Fergie did. I just didnt like him - the same as other fans hated Fergie!

There's nothing wrong with having a wishlist man. I'm sure you have one aswell do you not?

I dont particularly see those CM's i mentioned as unrealistic targets. They're not impossible at all. We have the money & they're available (or can be if money talks) as far as i can see.

Do you think our squad only needs 1 or 2 CM's? Who's the capable replacements to cover 2 possible new top-class CM's that come in? We're a shambles in mid-field..

I happen to think we need a shit load of players in & players out, or we'll be as shite as we were last season - Van Gaal is not a miracle worker, but he'd need to be with that bunch to make them top 4, but he's not lookin for just top 4 - he wants to win the League.. He wont do that unless we have a squad capable of challenging, which means many new faces in key areas of the 1st 11 & new back-ups!

I don't get annoyed either, I'm very misunderstood.

And no mate, I'm sorry. I don't think that list of 4 centre midfielders in one transfer window is remotely realistic. And no, I don't really have a wishlist, because things like that only lead to disappointment. I'm not much of a transfer muppet, and am happy to trust the manager to get the right men in. I trust van Gaal to know what he needs and fill the roles he needs to fill.

And for what it's worth, I think two midfielders is plenty. What we have currently are more than capable of filling in as squad players. It's when they're first choice it's a worry. Carrick, Cleverley and Fellaini are more than capable backups to two first choice centre mids.

On the BBC? Yes, have you? Because if you reckon it mentions Spanish sources then I'm pretty fecking sure you haven't read it.
It mentions no sources at all. It talks about LVG doing business (obviously interpreted as through Woodward), bizarrely mentions Fellaini as if it is relevant for whatever reason (other than the only MF signing in a while.. Fair enough..), gives a little history on last seasons attempt to sign him.

Then:
There is no source for this other than the original article but the BBC still said:
United are set to pay about £30m for Herrera, whose transfer fee was due to rise on 30 June under the terms of his contract.
Then waffles on about Valencia, Evra and their contracts with LVG putting his mark on the squad (despite not even being in Manchester, lazy but forgiveable journalism) then; as if somehow relevant to anything, talks about Luke Shaw..

Am I missing something? There is absolutely no new evidence there to suggest that this is happening. Now you're saying I haven't read it? This is all a bit weird.

It's because they are their own source, everybody is trying to explain that to you, they don't need external sources, that's how the BBC works.

Why do you bother reading any newspapers or news outlets if you refuse to believe anything until its taken a dump on your head?

Fully agree. They haven't transformed into horrible players, they just simply do not possess the quality to be key players for us which unfortunately they are at the moment. I'm expecting Herrera to be first choice pretty much straight away to be honest, we'll see during pre-season anyway.

Hmm, thanks.

I'd have to disagree with you on this one though. BBC doesn't really work like that unless it's the gossip column.

As things go, this is nailed on.

Christ alive. The BBC don't report rumours, or what they've seen elsewhere. Unless it's in their rumour mill, where they state where the story is from.

If they're reporting it it's because they've sourced the story themselves, with verifiable sources. They don't deal in idle gossip, they never have.

Are you deliberately being fecking stupid?

Hence why I think something isn't adding up here. The BBC should be quite happy to report it with some serious crunch to the article.. But it feels very 'throw it out because it is probably true, fall back if it turns out to be bullshit' and that is odd for the BBC and then reading through the article itself it's very vague. For whatever reason.

But we'll definitely see in the coming days.
Are you deliberately being fecking stupid?
.

I can feel it -- Ander Herrara!

Going back to Strootman for a moment, why not just sign him now? I realize he's injured but he's injured whether he's on our payroll or someone else's payroll and perhaps it would be better for all involved to have him supervised by United medical and coaching staff and all the little things that need to get done to integrate a new foreign player in Manchester, England.

Wow. You're a bit special, ain't you?

And if you think United are just chucking out contract extensions to whoever they want, without confirming them first with their new manager, then the question in my last post doesn't need answering, you actually are just as thick as pig shite.

Very :D.
Classic Nev hahalolzy:lol:
It's like there is blood in the water at the moment. You can feel the tension in some of the posters in here, it radiates through the screen.

They are gagging for this so badly that logic seems to go out the window. Also an honorable mention has to go to this transfer last year actually having impostors and so forth. If this on a forum is a bit 'serious and let's throw a strop' worthy it put's into perspective just how mental that entire situation was last season. Transfers have become a parody of themselves.

That has nothing to do with what I am saying though, it's tack-on fluff. Which is unusual for the beeb. In a sense of reporting reliable crunch.

Al right we'll make this easy.. When was the last time BBC Sport reported a deal to be all but done and they ended up being proven incorrect?

You're actually impossible. If you don't see the difference between the BBC (and Simon Stone in particular) reporting things, and it being on twitter or some other sports websites, then there really is no point discussing it with you.

I'm not one for believing much that's reported until it's confirmed. I don't go for the cult of Ogden or Taylor or most of the others, but when it's on the BBC then it's pretty solid.

Maybe he is taking the piss. For all we know he is just sitting in front of his computer and just laughing at you guys who continue to reply to him.

Januzaj RVP Sanchez
Mata
Herrrera Carrick
Evra Evans Jones Rafael
De Gea
 We just need to bring in Sanchez to make the wing his own.
Oh and most importantly, Van Gaal as manager. Next season is hopefully going to be great.

I'm not.
I actually hope he is.

Neither am I, I mean Mitten came out and pretty much said '100% done deal, thank you very much enjoy your new little Spanish maestro' which of course says a lot about it. But that Beeb article has a bit of a 'throw it out in hope' pong to it. Which is unlike the beeb. Of course it's hard with the time difference, I am awake and working while you guys are asleep and I go to bed and things happen when I have woken up. But I don't really see anything concrete about it all yet. Even if the big chains are reporting it.
Al right we'll make this easy.. When was the last time BBC Sport reported a deal to be all but done and they ended up being proven incorrect?
Fair play. I'd have to do some digging on that for sure.

Won't be happy if Carrick and Evra are still starters and we don't buy a Centre Back.

I don't get annoyed either, I'm very misunderstood.

Apologies. In consideration, i told a small fib to be honest man. I do get annoyed - mostly in the "Jesus is a spaceman" type of thread. Thats why i stay away from anything remotely close to spirituality. Cant help myself gettin stuck in there. Ironically, i'm a demon when i get goin in that shit. I've banned myself ffs :)

The wishlist is purely that man. Its just frustrating to see other teams stock up with quality, let players go & we never do that - with Fergie we didnt anyway. With every type of optimism comes with a risk of disappointment, but its fun. This transfer window is most certainly an opportunity to improve on the dross we experienced last season thats for sure.

Its pretty clear to see that once Fergie retired, the players became the stereotypical Premiership spoiled brats we slag every other team about. Millionaires who just didnt give a shite because the wage just keeps flowing in. Nani for example, seems to have loved being injured last term & previous terms, goin by his lethargic comeback games. I'm sick of it & want rid of the old guard that dont have Fergie breathing down their neck. Van Gaal wont have enough time to assess the players mentalities in pre-season. Many of them will be still on holiday & will miss it.

Then the window closes & we're stuck with the same old faces again. Its great to have something new to get excited about at United & not just go through the same motions, considering the resources we have available.

I cant remember being excited about a transfer window since we signed Nani & Anderson on the same day in 2007. That was a long time ago man. I'd love United to go full muppet in this one & spunk a shitload on top-class players that would walk into the 1st team team. I cant recall a window where anyone of above-average quality we buy, would be an upgrade on what we have in CD & CM - bar Carrick on form & a fit Evans.

I'm happy to trust the manager aswell - we dont have any option, even though he hasnt even worked with the squad & is gettin his info from the squads mate Giggsy. I think he's too close to the players - especially the likes of "Youngie" etc..

He wont say they need to be rid any of them in my opinion. Giggsy mostly played all his mates in 3 of his 4 games in charge, even though the scoreline flattered us against Norwich in the 1st game!

I'm as optimistic as i am pessimistic, when it comes to United.. Its up to the club to give us optimism & Van Gaal is an excellent start - coupled with the potential signings of Shaw & Herrera. We need more than that though..

That was an off-the-cuff rant once again - so dont feel you have to reply to any of that man :D

Won't have a problem with Evra really. He won't be as adventurous as before as LvG usually has his fullbacks more reserved, unless they are playing 5-3-2 but then they don't have as much need defensively. We won't also have European football to tire out Evra. His experience I think will be very important and he's still a good player, so I'd rather him the sign Shaw for 35 million and 100k a week, which is just stupid.

What number is he getting boys?
Available are: 5, 7, 9, 11, maybe 14, 15, hopefully 18, 21, 22, 27, 28, etc.
I think 21 is the most fitting tbh. He isn't a signing that would fill the 7, 9, or 11 role.
