I am thinking of Pogba needs a drop or something. Instead of Pogba Herrera should be the focal point of our midfield. Things are finally ticking for him.
The focal point in what sense? The role he played today - in which he was very much NOT the focal point of the midfield - suits him down to the ground. Let's not shuffle him around again, he's establishing himself as a seriously accomplished defensively minded midfielder. Rather than immediately using his performance as a stick to beat Pogba with they should be played together as much as possible to allow them to build a semblance of understanding. I fail to see any advantage in further chopping and changing to accommodate similarly under performing frontmen.

We look resolute in defence with Valencia, Bailly, Blind and De Gea looking particularly formidable with super protection from Herrera. Going forward though we still lack proficiency. Mourinho has struggled to get them going thus far and that needs to change asap.

Just sounds madly in love with the club. Wants to win every game, leagues etc. Proud of his teammates, talkin about the fight and heart needed for this type of game. Sayin all the right things
I do love the guy. Proud of him tonight but looking for him to get better and give consistently good performances before i give him all my love:D

Looks like he's the one who's going to pick up the mantle after Carrick. Long may he reign!

Must be first name on the team sheet now. Master class.

We needed a mobile, but physically strong enough midfielder who can keep up with Coutinho's dribbling and pace, and damn, Ander did a great job.

Pretty much save the game for us. I think any other midfielder on his place and we loose this 0-3. I'm glad he probably acknowledged that and gave his 100%.

He needs to start every game obviously.

 I just got tired of having to stick up for the lad. He has definitely found the right manager. You wonder what we might have achieved if he has been used properly last season.
Well he looks happy with Mourinho, so I'm hoping he keeps showing his quality. Goodness knows we need the lads to step it up.
Couldn't help but smile as I knew you'd be on here all happy:lol:

Did brilliantly in midfield. He was the main reason Liverpool's tactics didn't work.

The way he dealt with their pressing was excellent to see. He just dribbled his way through in the middle of the pitch, getting us forward.

Was given the man of the match and rightly so.

One of his best performances. Hopefully he can build on that.

His best performance since he joined the club, absolutely fantastic. Hope he keeps it up and becomes more consistent but that's a discussion for another day. Tonight he reached Gary Neville levels of commitment to the cause , fighting spirit against the scousers and pride to be wearing the shirt... and Gary has set that particular bar very high.

its taken a while but perhaps Mourinho has found him his best position which seems to be no 8 in a midfield 3.

Did very well for us today, especially in his defensive duties, which is where I have criticised him in the past. Was incredibly disciplined in terms of tactics and position, displayed aggression and power and built a very effective partnership with Fellaini.

The only area of improvement was the link up play with Pogba, but that was down to Pogba's poor form rather than Herrera.

Hope Mourinho lets him have a run in this position so he can build some momentum.

Very gutsy performance from him, possibly his best in a United shirt.

Herrera has really stepped up his game. And he's been on a consistent run this season. This is extremely good. He's handling these big games almost casually.

He's probably entered his peak.

Very impressed by him especially his consistency so far this season. He's not just pulling once off games here and there, he's been consistently performing and he's improved a lot which show signs of him entering his peak.

He played the same way in his first matches, scored some cracking goals, till cocaine nose deemed him too intelligent and forward thinking, so he was benched till he learnt how to stay in his own half and only pass backwards

can you write down the main stats, I was watching him today thinking he will have some monstrous rating for the number of tackles/interceptions/clearances...

90 touches
11 interceptions
7 tackles
1 blocked shot
3 clearances
53 passes
75% accuracy
0 key passes
0 shots
5 dribbles
4 headers

Apart from the one time he lost the ball in a dangerous position I think he was our best outfield player by a country mile.

Excellent performance , gave Valencia MOM though because of THAT tackle

That's him nailed on for forseeable future. Really enjoyed watching him tonight. He could be José's main man.

Love him. Showing exactly why we bought him and why he was rated so highly back in Bilbao. Just a quality player. Was always a big game player for Bilbao too, and the few games LvG trusted him to play in big games he ran them too. Shocking how much Van Gaal wasted him really.

 I just got tired of having to stick up for the lad. He has definitely found the right manager. You wonder what we might have achieved if he has been used properly last season.
Yep me and you backed him constantly in his first season, last season I criticized him more (but tbf, his individual performance suffered a lot because of LvG). Back to his best under Mou.

Fantastic today. Read the game well and give us composure on the ball. Really starting to adapt to this deeper role really well.

7 tackles and 11 interceptions today. Superb!

Aye, I'm not surprised in the slightest. This is the Herrera display we saw regularly for Bilboa. Dithering Dave tried to sign him, with no luck and LvG seemingly had no clue wrt who he signed, it seemed in the end.

But if you watched him for Bilboa, next to Iturraspe, you'd know what he's capable of and in what type of setup he thrives - hint - not the static LvG possession system.

Very pleased for the lad. Glad he's starting to show his quality after a shaky/inconsistent couple of years.
