Easily MOTM. He may not be Ôzil/De Bruyne class going forward, but he makes up for it by an abundance of grit and determination. Also, he does actually have a good shot on him.

It's long overdue he got a real run of games with us, and by that i mean more than 3-4 games in a row, and then benched for 10 games like he did under that spastic Van Gaal

Say what you will about him as a footballer, it's nice to see some fecking determination in our game again. An invaluable asset for a player, and I always loved Herrera for that, even when he played badly.

Very good again.

My first choice cm (by a long way) would be:

Pogba.........Herrera
.........Carrick.........

He is actually underrated. He should totally get a proper run in the team.
Yup. He went from being ''overrated'', or whatever that word means, to being ''underrated''. As if he's a garbage, shite midfielder with no discernible attributes.
Well, I'll tell you what, there aren't many cms who have his mobility first touch and courage to their game. Must starter for me.

Really good tonight. His energy is amazing. I expect him to start on Saturday.

Its been a crime how guys like fellaini and rooney, the flagship of the david moyes era still manage to get in ahead of herrera. It just boggles the mind how a player like rooney where the team is built around him, over our record signing, and herrera. Yeah don't expect the ship to shink when your main man cannot do his job when the captain aint fit to lead the team

Never stopped and he looks to have his confidence back on the ball, should be a starter on Saturday.

Leicester is a must win game and we should be aiming to line up the strongest team we have. That team surely consists of Herrera instead of Rooney, who shouldnt be on the bench let alone in the club for a long time now..

Think its harsh to mention Fellaini, who, in my opinion, has been one of our better performers.

He also hasnt been playing in the same position Hererra would be playing. The two of them started our first league game together, with Fellaini holding and Herrera as the 8. Think we could see this on Saturday, with Pogba ahead of them.

For what we are trying to achieve, carrick just shows why we need a new long term anchor man, who knows the position inside and out, fellaini just does not know the anchor man position that we need. Jose is our first manager since fergie who is worth a long term plan, he just needs time which we have to give him. For me its pretty simple, carrick 6, herrera 8, pogba 10, with herrera and pogba tag teaming to support zlaten, and hopefully we play mkh and rashford supporting zlaten also, we have the tools we aint using them because of a certain scouser destroy our system goals

For me Jose must be allowed to regain the asylum which some of the players have been allowed to run it, time for the power to return to the manager. We cannot continue to play with 10 men, if Jose wants to keep his job

Carrick
Herrera Pogba as our trio surely? Carrick's ancient but can pass a ball better than almost anyone alive. And Herrera runs enough for two players.

Exactly how I see it and said basically what you've posted to a mate earlier.

I would add that they are still sort of clouded by Van Gaals pass it backwards method. I would agree with what you say.

A possible contender for MOTD with Carrick. Fantastic performance and should be paired with Carrick and Pogba in a mdfield three.

If we see pogba, fellaini, rooney and zlaten has our spine, we may is well give up on the season. Like I have said the rooney and fellaini combo were the flagship of the David Moyes era, and that legacy is still lingering. Look at what Pep has done, he was not having any of Toure trying to poison his vision for city, if Jose has a vision for united he cannot let rooney poison this vision. I thought first 3 games, rooney has scored assisted in our games maybe a turn around, but you cannot save a sinking ship when its reached that tipping point

Yeah like I see Jose's job this season it to reclaim the asylum, remove the cancer which is wayne rooney. When your anchor man in carrick gets on the scoresheet ahead of your striker we have a problem, Herrera and Rashford provided everything Jose wanted, assists and goals from these 2. The VG passing is not really the issue, its creating a balance to the team we have lacked for a long while now.

The manager must be allowed to reclaim the Asylum, if Jose does not and is not allowed to, MUFC have problems deeper than we thought

Absolutely. It's hard to expect Jose to start Carrick in two games in a row since it was his first game of the season, but I would still love to see that. Fellaini brigade will speak of his good performances, but we are never really safe with him as a DM (same goes to Pogba and Herrera too, but they are enormously better in possession)

The summer, or even January priority must be a Carrick replacement. Trouble is, reliable and smart distributors of possession who are sturdy off the ball are gems. We should dedicate a huge chunk of our budget to find this player.

He was great. Mourinho surely can't leave him out after this.

Oh I agree, but you team pogba and herrera in a double pivot with the anchor man behind the midfield 2 of pogba and herrera, not only does pogba have a classy technical player who can hold the ball crisply pass it like herrera does oh yes scored and assisted tonight, but he can channel the power of Pogba with what he brings, that unleashes the beast in Pogba who can support our front 3, and all of a sudden we have players all over the park who are occupying space. While what we have been playing, rooney does feck all in a no10 position, fellaini and pogba are isolated because one is stuck with fellaini and rooney who offer nothing for distribution and positional sense, and fellaini is expected to play a pirlo role, when his passing is ok, but his positional sense are so Sunday league football we suffer has a team, would we put a chef in a surgeons job? no. Fact remains if we continue to play rooney, we may is well play with 10 men because that's what its like.

Carrick/blind/fellaini/morgan
Pogba herrera
Mkh zlaten rashford

Even if its fellaini has the anchor man, he's got to play herrera and pogba together supporting zlaten, we cannot continue with 10 men anymore. Herrera does what all attacking midfielders do, score and assist which he does do

With someone like mourinho who likes his teams playing with tempo, this would work to our advantage, unless our squad truly is lost. This the height of the inmates running the asylum

His shooting technique is sublime when he goes for the long range drives. A lot of the goals he's scored have been absolute peaches.

Deserves a good run in the side. I eagerly await the day we get him alongside Pogba and Carrick in a midfield three.

Extremely tidy passing throughout the game today and really took the initiative to go and win us the game in the second half.

More of this please.

On merit Herrera would start on Saturday, I would not be surprised to see Rooney picked ahead of him though. At the moment club politics seems to trump performances. Herrera has not had a bad game this season. He's a good lad though. If he doesn't get picked he won't cause trouble. That makes it easy to leave him out if a difficult decision must be made.

For me Ander was man of the match. When we needed some inspiration from the centre of midfield he took it upon himself to make things happen. The shot that hit the post was hit just as sweetly as the one that went in. While others looked to give away responsibility for seeing us through, Herrera had the balls to take on the mantle and try and make it happen. His passing was tidy all day evening long. He put himself about a lot too. Great showing.

If we had more players with Herrera's determination we might not have been so easy to bully at Watford.

PS) Loved his assist

Hes great isnt he? And in a three man midfield, it makes so much sense for him cos if he presses, its not a worry if its passed around him. Because he still has two men to cover. He had this one lovely pass in the first half to Rojo (who tbf put a lovely cross in but we had a forward who decided to be deeper than he should have been).

Anyway, lovely goal, was unlucky with his other shot. Nice to see him shooting again after it seemed like LVG tried to coach that out of him.

That spine was a major problem against City and Watford especially... It lacks any fluidity, mobility, pace. It's no wonder players like KDB, Silva and even Capoue and Pereyra was just running rings around our spine at times. No wonder why we can't press and fail to win 2nd balls with such an immobile spine. That's just defending.
Attacking wise that spine for all the flaws above is the reason we lack any quick, transitional play when we have the ball trying to take the initiative or counter attacking. It's also no surprise that we've basically been using Zlatan has an Andy Carroll type striker because the lack of pace, mobility kills us trying to play quick, incisive football, lack of mobility kills movement so we just hoof it to the big man.

Best thing is Mourinho was just about to sub him for Fellaini. Now he gets to play on.. Would have been another mistaken sub.

Can still see him on the bench against Leicester, it seems as certain as Rooney starting every game.

Don't think that's right. I seen Mourinho signalling to Fellaini as soon as Schneiderlin played a shit pass out of play, it was him coming off I'm pretty sure

It seems this club has some kind of fetish for immobile pace-less players. I will be seriously worried if we lineup with both rooney and fellaini, and questions we have to answer how Wayne rooney continue's to play, is there a deeper darker theory in play? how players in place of rooney score and assist, but Wayne Rooney can do anything but score goals, assists, able to move, pass and show any kind of technical ability, why he keeps giving the ball away, after all that he still gets in the team. If this was pep he would have laughed him out of the door, or give him the Toure treatment, because if not playing him will disrupt the dressing room, he really has become a poison influence killing this team. The players and potential we have in this team, is being ruined by an ageing passed his sell by date player, which the team is still built around which is completely mindblowing. Instead of putting your future into one of the words best midfielders at 23, we still building the team around someone who should have gone a long time ago

Pogba and Herrera in a three man CM

Should be one of the first names on the team sheet

That penalty he scored last year was absolutely beautiful

Terrific again. Performed really well every time he's played for Mourinho, suits him perfectly and just makes our team play better having him there. Put him next to Pogba and in front of Carrick and we'll be loads better.

Lacks physicality in my opinion. We need Schneiderlin in the Starting 11. Plus Fellaini hasn't really put a foot wrong.

Schneiderlin is useless, Herrera plays with way more aggression then him anyway. Fellaini has done well true, but he just doesn't suit the rest. Doesn't matter how well he plays on an individual level, he'll never be a playmaker or a particularly good passer so he shouldn't start for me.

Schneiderlin is better than Carrick. Carrick has lost his legs. He looked decent against a League 1 side tonight. But he'll get overrun when the likes of Kante, Fernandinho, De Bruyne and the likes start running at him. Plus I can't imagine him having much chemistry with Pogba.

Schneiderlin and Pogba would be a good partnership in my opinion.
