Could have had an entire extra year..... Moyes you absolute cnut battalion!
That was a release clause, wasn't it?(Yes Kante went for less, but Leicester don't have the resources to ask for more, not an accurate representation of the prices of midfielders imo.)
There is a fiasco with nearly all our Centre Midfielders though. The Pogba fiasco (losing him for peanuts, paying for him with the souls of 1,000 virgins) the Ander fiasco - where allegedly some false lawyers bought his paperwork and missed the deadline blah blah blah. The Fellaini fiasco - could of got him with release clause, made a crap bid for him and Baines, bought him for more.....
Herrera wouldn't want to leave unless we wanted him to. You can tell he genuinely is in awe. He loves the club and is the most passionate player in our squad.
After a season like this, anything short of 50-60 million and Jose would probably laugh. (Yes Kante went for less, but Leicester don't have the resources to ask for more, not an accurate representation of the prices of midfielders imo.)

We had already scouted Ander with SAF, Moyes wouldn't take his word for it and messed about doing his own scouting and left it far too late. So yes it was Moyes fault. We have no proof it was his fault? Besides isn't Herrera one of Moyes' players anyway?
Moyes said himself that he turned the deal down as Herrera wasn't worth the money. We have no proof it was his fault? Besides isn't Herrera one of Moyes' players anyway?
Shhhh, you are killing the vibe. I deliberately left Carrick out to suit my agenda. The hargreaves fiasco - After a full year of negotiations, partly due to his injury record, signs and plays one full season. gets injured a lot. moves to City. The Anderson Fiasco - he ate sweets and got fat, lost all his flair.Lest we forget the carrick fiasco where he was a one man midfield for about 5 years
Why should there be anything in it? He is one of our most important players.
That first tweet is mighty important - he's almost always our best player in big games. Especially against Liverpool.
That interview. His mannerisms are exactly the same! That same head jerk and fast paced speaking.
What the feck are Marca on?
Think it would be more from their perspective than ours. As has been pointed out, Herrera's entering the last year of his contract (with an option for another). Either way he's in the last two years of his deal. If Madrid were interested in him this would be the ideal time to start trying to unsettle the player.
For me, this more tells me that whoscored ratings are untrustworthy. Toure's performances pretty much single handedly dragged city to the title. So far this season Ander Herrera has a 7.52 rating on whoscored.com. Thats 2nd of all our players so far this season, behind the huge 7.71 of Pogba. To give some perspective to these numbers, thats the 2nd highest rated central midfielders in the premier league this season again, behind Pogba alone. But this thread is about Ander, not about Pogba.
For context sake, Michael Carrick's highest ever rating over the course of a premier league season was a 7.34 rating in 2011/2012. Kante was at 7.61 last season when he was a big part of Leicester's success. David Silva's best was 7.57 in 2013/2014. Yaya Toure's best was at 7.55 in 2013/2014.
There's a bunch of players who were clearly a tier or two above that. Ronaldo, Bale and Suarez in the past, Hazard and Sanchez for the past few seasons, Aguero in 2013/2014, Fabregas in 2009/2010, Ramsey in 2013/2014, Cazorla in 2014/2015 - so theres plenty of examples of better seasons statistically than Ander's 2016/2017 but its still pretty good to be around the same or even bettering some of the names mentioned here in their best seasons statistically.
He's not quite the star of the team, but getting through a lot of good work thats incredibly important and the numbers give a good portrayal of his contribution and where he really stands.
Going to Madrid to sit on the bench doesnt make sense.

Generally they are based on arbitrary stats and ball actions but don't take into accounts their mistakes and things they do wrong so its unreliable. A player can make a good pass and get a good rating, but then he could not make a pass at the right time or make bad decisions and it is ignored. Also, goals win games so are the most important thing. If a player did nothing but score hatricks all game, then I imagine his performance rating should be high as he has been the deciding factor. Either way, Toure should have a much higher rating for that season, in the 8's at leastWas it his performances or his goals? Because whoscored's stats give a good indication of overall workload, not just one off moments of brilliance in a game. Its the whole, not one moment. Although goals do score highly, its not those alone.

He is our little gem, so they can sod off. Get his contract sorted. He is becoming a priority. One of the repeated complaints of Media media is that Casemiro only destroys. You might think that's unfair but they said the same thing about Makelele. When the Madrid media thinks of a #6 they think Redondo, they think Xabi Alonso. Ander Herrera is closer to that than Casemiro is.
The Barcelona media has been equally glowing about Herrera recently. Barca's paper of choice, Mundo Deportivo, recently claimed that the new Ander Herrera has astounded Europe. In fact, the last paragraph of the MD piece is devoted to saying how well Ander would fit in at Barcelona: Highlighting how Barcelona had previously considered signing Herrera but had been stopped due to other priorities and the price, but now he was coming to the attention of Europe's major teams again (a dig at us, while bigging Barca up).
We won't have been the only ones to notice United has let Ander enter the last two years of his contract.
This is new month hyperbole. 2 months ago these sort of claims would never be made. A better player is a better player. Why wouldn't you swap Herrera for Kroos? I would swap him for Thiago even. Herrera is famous for the sheer volume of interceptions. He has made 79 interceptions to Thiago's 115! Thiago has played 2 games less. I think these Spanish guys have super intelligence on the pitch to be in the right place as they don't have the physique. Thiago also creates more chances, is a far better dribbler and long passer (3rd most completed in European leagues, where as long passing is Herrera weak point. Thiago is better at dictating and is just better period. definitely swap them if Thiago can prove his fitnessI don't think there is any midfielder in the world that I would presently swap for Herrera, not even Verratti. The energy and the passion he brings to the game along with playing for the team mean that even on his worst days, he'll have some positive influence if not the game then raising the spirits of his teammates.
Players of his type are a rarity, as you'd rarely find midfielders who are this good defensively and offensively.
Could've been Pogba Kroos and Thiago if reports are to believed. Felligol will do for now thoughIf only we'd signed Thiago Alctantara for a measly £18m from Barca when he was going, instead of Bayern. Fecking Pep.
Just imagine a midfield trio of Herrera, Pogba, Thiago for a moment and ask yourselves if any team in the world would have had a better one.
We'd have to agree to disagree here. I'd much rather have players who want to stay here and want to play for us. Thiago rejected us once and should we sign him, he'd go back running to Barca if they are even slightly interested. This is new month hyperbole. 2 months ago these sort of claims would never be made. I thought you meant on purely ability. To be fair, it is up to the club to make United desirable enough for top players like Thiago, to want to be here. Gone are the days of the class of 92. If we want to be competing with the best, we are gonna need the best players and these players have lots of options. I doubt Mbappe is desperate to play for United, but most would have him over Rashford because of his ability. We'd have to agree to disagree here.
