And Solskjaer has won it!

Its a football forum where people discuss football. The only reason we need is that people want to remember it and enjoy with others.

Oh right. Makes perfect sense. It’s a tense time under his poor management. Let’s make a thread about his goal decades ago.. Makes sense.

I wonder if some even realise what the Board is doing to the fans.

That's the thing. The people who swore up and down that they were backing him purely as a manager were deceiving themselves.

In the end, they never really could separate the player from the manager.

Unlucky for them, isn't it? Thats football. Every club has their ups and downs. They should want to learn about those moments like those of us who were lucky enough to enjoy the Fergie era learnt about the Busby era, and the lean times after Busby.

That is a fair comment I guess if Man Utd. had suffered a total financial melt-down (like Leeds in the noughties) but they are still one of the richest clubs in Europe yet due to stupid recent decisions and an over-reliance on past glories (the two being linked by one man) the club are struggling, when they should not be.

Its a problem at both ends of the spectrum: ex-club legend player, now struggling in the managers role, ex-club legend manager now making erratic decisions in the club Ambassadors role and the later is trying to help the former!

Utd. need a proper deep clean and a break from the past.

“Struggling” is very relative isn’t it? 99% of clubs would kill for our last 9 years. I’m not sure how half this forum would cope if they supported a normal club. I say cope like it’s coping now - it isn’t.

The first line is the lie

Depends what you see as on job?

Some could argue if Beckham and Fergie never fell out we could of won that Champions League. Instead we played some make shift winger who still couldn’t get a position upfront. But hey, RVN is a proper footballer.

He doesn't do parody. I'm never quite sure what it is but it ain't parody.

You still haven’t seen the light even after last week.

I’m surprised. I had slim faith in you. Now I just feel like your being stubborn.

and this isn't the thread for it. There are dozens of threads for negativity about the club and the manager.

Most fans now realise Ole is not likely to be the man to take us back to the very top, but he produced a moment that was the happiest a lot of us felt watching football and its great to have some positive moments amongst the gloom now. Do you think that when Gerrard takes over after Klopp leaves if he's a flop people will erase his playing history just because of some moaners online?

Eh? I was talking about the intention behind your post rather than the subject matter, as it was suggested that it may have been parody.

As far as I'm concerned the season's over from a title perspective, a slim chance we can make top 4 and he's on borrowed time, happy?

It still doesn't mean I can make sense of your posts but then they often seem intentionally abstruse so I suspect you prefer it that way :)

Shame you guys don’t give the same love to Yorke and Cole who actually started and got us to the final.

They clearly don’t have ‘Utd DNA’.

Also Teddy Sheringham who won player of the year playing for us.

He has more ‘Utd DNA’ than the previous two, but never went into management so the club can’t give him his 5 year contract… yet. A few years at Leyton Orient and a spell getting someone relegated and he could become a prime candidate

What did Ole do?

Literally has ‘United DNA’ coursing through him.

Also, ‘gets the club’… a phrase which appears to have become literal, as Solskjaer is actually GIVEN the club.

Also, ‘Tradition’, ‘swashbuckling’, ‘patience’ and ‘continuity’.

No I meant the part as sub. Ole was not a sub for the majority of his time here but closer to 40%

In football mine would be..

99 Final
CWC
85 Whiteside
08
Fergie's first title, specifically Brucie's goal.

Hard to argue with those choices but John O’Shea against Liverpool in 2007 was unforgettable. Although not mathematically certain, you knew the title was coming back after 4 long years. 4 years…..

What are the other 4?

Well since I mentioned Sports, for me it would have to be (in no particular order)

Olympic Games in Lillehammer 1994 - I was 12 and the entire event was like a fairytale from my point of view back then
Norway winning 2-1 over Brazil in the 98 World Cup
England - Norway 1-1 at Wembley in 92
Brazil - Germany 1-7 2014

Yes. Also Ole's goal against Liverpool 99. Giggsy's solo vs Arse as well. Roma at home was out of this world too.

Living in the past is great for people in their 40s and 50s (and older) but what about teenagers now, who only know misery and failure?
Nah, it’s not great, even for them. Who wants to live in the past ?
I am 35, and I am still alive. I hope to see us win the Champions league and the prem again ! Don’t care about the past !

I suppose so, but the thing is & there is actually a whole thread on this - 4 years without a trophy & this ain't changing this season.

I actually think Chelsea now they have a small lead in the PL they will really push on. They had many first team players out at the weekend and with Mendy in between the sticks and a very smart manager I bet even Liverpool and City are apprehensive. Utd. are 8 points behind Chelsea. Now I am assuming cos of the Liverpool game Ole will go back to previous seasons. He will aim to draw or get a narrow win vs the top six teams whilst winning against the rest. That won't make up a deficit of 8 points but it is the recipe for a top-4 finish and that secures his job.

Utd are already out of the Carabou Cup which leaves the CL (highly unlikely) and the FA Cup - a possibility I suppose. But not when you look at Ole's record in semi-finals...... need I say more?

I suppose books and DVDs of past glories will paper over the cracks for a while and having a member of the team from the golden era as manager helps (or does it?) but you don't want to become Liverpool: 33 years without a title, or City 44 years trophyless, do you?

Feck em, if their biggest source of misery is man utd not winning cups for a few years then they're ahead of the game !!

Seems as though Moyes, Van Gaal and Mourinho were all treated better than him and he’s been our best manager in that time.

It’s actually weird.

Treated better how?

None of them had the friends in the club front office or media that Ole does and none of them were backed in the transfer market as much as Ole has either so how has he been treated worse somehow all of a sudden?

Agree, every thread in United and football forum should be about Ole getting a sack and calling him all the names under the sun until the fe.er fe.s out?
Am I doing it right?

Okay mate. We made a lot of finals in that time he was here. How many of those did he start? How many times was he our number 1 striker? I mean sub or not. He was just an okay player. I don’t get it. RVP smashed his whole career in 1 season.
