Amorim's Rebuild

I think we’ll sign 4 players in the summer to try and help Amorim shape up. Without European football I don’t think we’ll be able to get a lot of top quality players, so the focus will likely be younger players.

RWB: Quenda seems most likely at the moment.

CM: it really depends, I think Bruno is preferred deeper by Amorim, so someone to rotate would be ideal. Perhaps a Chris Rigg/Jobe Bellingham/Fernandes or another young midfielder would be good. It depends if we want a good passer or carrier, or both. Finding a young player who is great and both is difficult I imagine.

10: I think if we don’t sign a top striker we may try to go for Cunha. It’ll depend on what his options are though. I could see him being arrogant enough to think he’ll make the difference for us. No guarantee we get him. Otherwise we try and go for a younger player like Dibling.

ST: I think based on what Laurie Whitwell is saying, we’ll end up going for Delap. I quite like him though, really puts himself about and is a real handful.

I suspect that could be in the region of £175m if you get Cunha, if not, then likely around £150m or so without sales. It’ll certainly be an interesting summer.
Rigg/Quenda/Delap/Cunha is a very good summer in my eyes for the position we are in as a club. As nice as it is to say "well we need proven quality", the fact is that "proven quality" will eat up the majority of any teams budget in these times. Cunha would be a great start that's certainly proven, and the other three are excellent prospects in the mold of "betting on them before they hit it big".

Mateus Fernandes at Southampton or Marcelino Nuñez at Norwich would be two good options at CM you could add.

Nuñez in particular reminds me a bit of Ugarte with his dog-like tackling but with more creativity and consistent ability on the ball.

If we're considering Norwich, Josh Sargent might be interesting. 11 goals, 5 assists. He was injured for two months but now that he's back he has 7 goals in their last 6 games. Could be a diamond in the rough. I doubt we go for as many big names as some on here think. We need such an overhaul, it's best to spread funds to multiple areas. Over-indexing on a big time striker who'll never get the ball played into him would be a mistake.

I have given up on Onana so I think a GK is required, as much as I like him he's too inconsistent.

Suzuki
Branthwaite
Jonathan David
Cunha
Angel Gomes
Quenda

There's no post I've seen that prices Quenda at less than 40m. If we spend anything close to that amount or more it will only demonstrate this club has learned nothing and is back to overpaying for unproven players the manager knows.

I don't see how signing Quenda isn't eating up our budget.

The rebuild is a fantasy. We're not rebuilding anything. At least not in the way people want. We'll build a team to help consolidate ourselves as a midtable team whilst cutting the wage bill in half. Amorim won't be here this time next year.

That is a rebuild. Sancho, Rashford, Casemiro out is nearly a million a week in wages. Then bring players in that suit the system on sensible salaries and we build a core group that can finish maybe 8th next year then 6th, 4th etc then bring on 21

Not even Amorim can make us finish 21st.

Josh Sargent is an interesting shout. Admittedly I've never seen him play, so solely going by YouTube and stats I'd say he's an intriguing option. Seems to score headers, both feets, scrappy and nice goals, plus provides assists. Better Goal/minutes ratio than what Gyokeres had in the same league.
