Amorim: «We are maybe the worst team in Man United history»

Maybe he said that out of pressure, but there wasn’t anything actually wrong with his statements. Do you disagree with anything he said?

What has that got to do with anything? Just because you liked what he said, that's no reason to assume he was pressured into disowning it.

Nor does it matter. If he genuinely regrets what he said, he was being rash. If he said something that backfired so badly internally he was forced to make public amends, he miscalculated badly. Either way, it doesn't seem to reflect well on him.

Not that it's the end of the world or anything. We move on.

Thought it was obvious that he’s fallen out with the manager?
Because he won't buckle down and work hard. Plus his going out on the pi55 doesn't exactly scream professionaleither.

Don't understand how anyone can still support this waster.

Not supporting him, just think it’s about his attitude rather than quality, as you implied. Also don’t understand what Rashford has to do with what Amorim said.

Are you for real?
The poster is saying that Rashford can't make the team and I'm saying that despite that he's one of the top scores on the team. Clearly things aren't so simple as to be summed up in a single line bashing a player for no reason.

Exactly, like I said. A poster hates a player and all of a sudden a rational statement is now ridiculous to them.

Surely, knowing how to handle the media is just basic competence for a manager on this level.

Not necessarily, handling the media in your own country, speaking in your own language at a much smaller club in Sporting is very different than handling the media in a foreign country when you are suddenly the manager of Manchester United. United are the biggest story in football.

I doubt we have a plan. Nothing points to it and Ashworth who was supposed to do the planning left in a hurry. The plan is either to be a midtable team (most likely) or buy a lot of players who can play 343, which we can't afford.

Ashworth leaving after all the trouble to sign him is definitely a worrying sign. Without a DOF you have to wonder who is deciding the direction recruitment and the first team will go.

In the media (and even in the title of this thread) the quote is being published missing a fairly crucial word, namely 'being'. It's the same difference between saying someone is being a dickhead and that they are a dickhead.

It's fairly important and I'm surprised Amorim hasn't focused more on this (or at least our PR team advised him to do so rather than completely walking it back and awkwardly suggesting he was talking about himself - which makes no sense in the context of his actual words)

Also his use of the word 'maybe' which is quoted in the thread title but routinely dropped in press articles would have also been an easy way for him to explain his outburst rather than the garbled walk back we've seen this week.

It's Amorim's fault for saying it in the first place, but the club need to coach him better on how to handle the press.

Haven't read through this thread, but my thoughts on the quotes were...about f-in time. We've been operating the same way for decades now. Very little to no accountability for players and a very slow-to-act management group. This needed to be said just to at least try a different strategy to get some reaction from our players. I applaud it...

Isn't Chris Vivell DOF now?
