Amorim: «We are maybe the worst team in Man United history»

Do these players even care? I would be ashamed if I was a player in this team.
 
I posted this when we were down to Southampton -

Team is awful. There is no light at the end of the tunnel at this point, maybe we can get lucky draw in Europa. At this point top half finish would be a miracle. Were 2.5 seasons from legit chance of CL football. I think this is the lowest point I can remember as a supporter for 20 years.
 
He’s lucky the Glazers aren’t in charge or they’d give him the bullet Ragnick style
 
We aren't a team. Just a very random squad that doesn't suit any formation. As @Judas said it only suits chaos football that only works for short term success, cups in other words, but that is it.

Worse thing we did was not keep him on in the background to deal with the issues in conjunction with a coach. He knew what and who the big problems were.
 
It's a plea to upper management - get some fecking players in.

Even after the Southampton win, he told Scholes that the players are not the right profiles to play his system (or any system given how crap they were under EtH as well).

The statement is not factually incorrect - that much is obvious. Squad-wise and results-wise, we are the worst team in Manchester United history. Also, it is not out of his character to state it - Amorim was famous for being honest even before he signed for us - this is right on cue.

But should he have said that? Opinions will differ, but personally I'm glad he's at least staying true to himself and not willing to budge on his ideas unlike his predecessor. He'll most likely fail, but at least it won't be because he didn't back himself.
 
He's right. The players have to acknowledge that and they have to do so much better. We're not going to be 'ok' just because we're Manchester United and that line of thinking isn't going to work anymore. The league is becoming more and more competitive. You've got the battle for the top 4 positions with clubs such as Arsenal, City, Liverpool, and Chelsea being the teams that have over the last decade or so challenging for that. But, the likes of Brighton, Villa, Forest, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Brentford have all come into the equation and have upped their game. That's already 10 teams we're talking about there. We haven't got a god-given right to be better than any of those. The only way to show/prove that we're better is with how we perform on the pitch and how we obtain the right results to climb up the table. We're not doing that.

You take the name away from this club and you have got a lot of overpaid players who do not perform anywhere near close enough to the standard required, and they are very inconsistent with when they choose to perform and not perform. You can't just suddenly turn it on for Liverpool and City. What has made us such a great club in the past has been our ruthless consistency.

Amorim has to demand more from the players. In turn, they have to raise their game. In every aspect. Defending, scoring, chance creation, tenacity, mental toughness, passing, the whole fecking lot. I've got no problem with Amorim challenging these players to be better. In addition to this, if he's not right in saying that we are the worst United team in history, then he isn't far wrong either. As a player, I would be so fecking ashamed of even coming close to that. That thought alone would make me want to train harder and perform better on the field.
 
He knows the players he has are absolutely garbage and won’t progress. Why give Maguire an extension when he has been underperforming baffles me.

I also believe he’s way out of his depth but I admire his honesty

I don’t believe Radcliffe has the best intentions on the playing side to help fix this.

The club is rotten to the core and has been for a long time
 
We are a counter attacking team trying to play one touch football. And players always take two touches before they pass it, well most of them anyway.

We need players to suit his style of one touch football. At the moment with how he persists with the 343 he looks like a gambler in the bookies convinced that the next bet will come through.

Badly need players in now.
 
I like people telling it how it is, instead of prettying up their words to cater to the hystericals. I remember when Rangnick did it and it rattled some to this day. He was right, of course.
 
Amorim is not stupid, he knows the game, he must have a strong backing from INEOS, to say this so publicly, so early into his tenure.
 
Good. He needs to put as much pressure on Ineos/Glazers to spend some fecking money.

Absolutely zero logic in bringing him in if they aren't going to back him.
 
Well said. If he backed these losers he'd be slated for being 'deluded', a 'yes man', and a 'glazer/ineos puppet'.

Time to call a spade a spade, or a useless cnut a useless cnut.

It's not like we were free flowing in attack and rock solid in defence before him.

We were terrible for 18 months before ETH was sacked with teams running through us.

We all went into the season wondering where on earth the goals were going to come from.

Even if ETH had stayed we would be around this position. Do you think he really was going to get results in those 8 killer games in December?

It was INEOS who told Reuben it was now or never. They need to sort something out these last two weeks of the window. Give him at least two players he can work with.

The problem is, the squad ragnick was talking about was rotten and was cleared out. But we somehow replaced them with more deadwood.

Lingard, Matic, Wan Bissaka, De Gea, Telles, Pogba, Cavani, Mata, Andreas Pereira, Jones, Fred, Bailly, McTominay…they’re all gone. And we got worse :lol:
 
He's absolutely correct. I'm sure the powers at the club know it too, but whether they'll do anything about it is a different matter.
 
We’ve had some serious problems since SAF left but it’s hard to disagree with the statement if you look at the facts.

Jose’s third season, the Ole/Ralf season and EtH last year: just when you think it cant get worse.

He might not have let those signing happen though. They still went out this summer and signed players they thought ETH might be comfortable with, rather than getting a new coach in.
 
It's mad when you look at this team. Not only would they get nowhere near Fergie's united teams but most of them wouldn't even get in Solskjaer's.
 
He's right. There's honestly maybe 2-3 players I'm fine with staying the rest need to be gone but it won't happen unfortunately.

The open heart surgery that Ragnick said the club needed technically happened but it was just a gigantic failure.

To be honest, we had Greenwood, Martial and Rashford all looking good 4 years ago. Greenwood particularly has screwed us. The club didn't search for other options because he was thought of so highly.

We never did, our squad was and is like a cancer, you cant remove parts of it and close it up, whole thing has to go in one cut, otherwise new folk will ( and they did) get infected after few months.
 
We need to rip it all down and start again. Anything that could fetch decent money can go. Aside from Amad and maybe a few more.
 
I honestly hate the team right now. Bar Amad and Bruno none of them deserve to wear the shirt and those two are nowhere near legend status but they are miles better than the rest.

They are just a pathetic football team and I won't miss any of them when they leave.
