They would be forced to provide evidence if it exists if a politician decides to pursue this supposed Anonymous.

Why? Because it would be voting fraud by a SuperPAC tied to a political party, which I would certainly believe is highly illegal. Congress would investigate as would FBI, NSA, etc. It would be a massive blow to the political system and the nation, and as such could certainly be kept under wraps unless a whistle blower emerges.

I would love to see how Fox spins such an investigation and congressional inquiry.

 supposed

There is not much can be done to the candidate Romney and the GOP in particular. I cannot imagine that those in the highest levels of the party and the Romney campaign would allow themselves to be in anyway associated with these plans. They really don't have to anyway. If "king makers" like Rove and all his billionaires can affect election results without cooperation with the party then why would they even involve them?

His erratic behaviour on election night, and the unusual anomalies in Ohio in 04 suggests that there could be something to this.

Well, Fox had been pushing the narrative that Romney was in the lead for months prior to election night, and in the days leading up to the election they had a horde of "experts" on to tell them that Romney would win in a landslide. So this wasn't just Romney or Rove, they all seemed genuinely convinced that this election was in the bag. Even O'Reilly appeared to be perplexed after Obama carried Ohio.

As Maher said on Friday, conservatives need to stop getting their information from Fox News, and they need to rid themselves of this "feck facts"-attitude and step out of the bubble of irreality in which they currently reside.

Facts = scientific gobbledygook.

until 2004...Ohio to be specific...exit polls were used as an accurate indicater of how the states would be called.

All the GOP pundits were expecting a Bush defeat...and then Ohio came in for Bush...

Kerry did not fight it...

but obviously the fix was in. just could not be proven.

The Future of the GOP (allegedly)

GQ: How old do you think the Earth is?

Marco Rubio: I'm not a scientist, man. I can tell you what recorded history says, I can tell you what the Bible says, but I think that's a dispute amongst theologians and I think it has nothing to do with the gross domestic product or economic growth of the United States. I think the age of the universe has zero to do with how our economy is going to grow. I'm not a scientist. I don't think I'm qualified to answer a question like that. At the end of the day, I think there are multiple theories out there on how the universe was created and I think this is a country where people should have the opportunity to teach them all. I think parents should be able to teach their kids what their faith says, what science says. Whether the Earth was created in 7 days, or 7 actual eras, I'm not sure we'll ever be able to answer that. It's one of the great mysteries.

OMG

As I recall, exit polling used to be extremely accurate. I find it a bit strange that it's now supposed to be unreliable.

Considering the bizarre lack of a paper trail and apparently pathetic security of electronic voting I certainly find it all suspicious. There have been quite a few alleged incidents of irregular voting results around the country since the electronic voting machines were brought in. But to be honest I haven't looked into it at all to tell you if these allegations were legitimate.

since rubio is supposedly a big hiphop head, i wonder when he drives around listening to and rapping along with nwa and dr.dre if he follows the dr. dre rules or if he mumbles/skips over the 'niggaz' in the song.

So they have a proof that would certainly send a number of prominent repubs (and maybe the most hated one of all) to jail and almost certainly destroy that party for a long time and they're deciding to give a warning to stop it or else......

Complete BS, if they had tangible evidence they'd turn it over. Either that or the evidence they'd turn over would also be able to implicate them in the same exact thing.

Not saying I doubt it. Roves IT guy died in mysterious circumstances in plane crash after 2008 (or was it 2004).

Really? What was his name?

Mike Connell
Michael Louis Connell (November 30, 1963 – December 19, 2008) was a high-level Republican consultant who was subpoenaed in a case regarding alleged tampering with the 2004 U.S. Presidential election and a case involving thousands of missing emails pertaining to the political firing of U.S. Attorneys. Connell was killed when the plane he was flying crashed on December 19, 2008.

bingo.

I don't think we will know all the details until some years from now...but this is interesting stuff.
Lets remember, the Democrats would have a lot of the 'hacker' types too...sure they would have thought up how Rove and Co would be able to pull this off and just 'block' it...whatever it probaably would not have been 'legal' either.

imo the only way to make sure all elections are beyond suspcion, is to have an independent election board oversee everything. From setting up early voting dates, number of voting booths per precint...I mean the whole business.

Just look at all the ridiculous stuff Hustad got up to in Ohio....

And Scott in Florida.

beggers belief.

Have fair elections..run on your policies...and both sides work together.

Yeah I think an independent election body is essential these days. I'd take redistricting away from the legislature too.

Charlie Christ was interviewed on Racial Maddow. Republicans must be shitting it. Not sure if he will run as a Democrat or Independent. But He his saying everything a Floridian will want to hear.

2014. count on him running as Governor.

I just watched that. He seems like a decent bloke...I hope he runs and is a success.

Very good piece by the way. I think I've read other pieces by this Chait fella, and if I remember correctly, they were excellent as well.
