Amad Diallo | Sunderland Loan Watch

Diallo plays wide in a front three. He is definitely a “forward”.

Hasn’t he also played a game or two as a striker when they had a few other players out injured?
He has

Let him finish the loan - when it's going this well, with as many games he'll play in the Championship and a manager that has taken to him after making him work for it, it's the epitome of a successful loan. The one of his weakness was strength and question marks ability to play against physicality of the premier league, so everything is perfect for him.

In January if we go for a striker that we need at least as a stop gap, it will mean even less chances for him should he be recalled and even if we don't get one, he'll still find chances very rare.

Not sure if you watched the Milwall match -- he won his fair share of the duels against the pretty physically imposing Milwall players.

He tracked back to win the ball back a number of times. This is something new.
Are you saying it's new that he tracked back? In all the comprehensive scouting reports (UtdArena and Kees Hemmen)I read before he joined us based on his youth career, it specifically stated that he was very good at tracking back. Even the game against Milwall he was the most fouled player but had also made the most tackles in the game.

Next year he will be competing with Antony for the right wing spot and I can see him eventually replacing Bruno as our 10

That's more like it. Hopefully he can keep up and we can cash in of Elanga so we can have Amad to replace his spot next season to fight for a spot with Antony.

Great that Amad is doing well and Pellistri showed decent World Cup form.
Looking like shrewd business by Ole.

Love watching players like Amad, makes football look so simple and beautiful. Really hopes he makes it at us. Good competition to Antony next year

I still think he needs another season on loan -- you know what kids are like, inconsistent. He needs to play more to develop that consistency. He wont get that sitting on the bench this early in his career.

Good that he's doing well there. Still a long way to go. Hope he keeps it up.

Talent has never been the issue for Amad tbh. Technical brilliance is Messi territory he just needs to add killer instinct and determination to his game. Accurate passes from both standing and running positions and perfect weight of pass I think he will fit very well into our team.

Yeah, we've stifled some of our talents by not letting them go on loans when it's obvious they won't get minutes.

I find the loan system to be very hit and miss but we have used it particularly poorly at times.

We should always be looking to get our 'next-best'* talents out on loan to the Championship when they hit 18/19.

*the level below 'elite', like a Greenwood who was good enough to be a first-team regular as a teenager

Early days, but I think if he keeps this up Antony may have a battle on his hands

Agree, imagine Amad and Antony fighting it out for the right wing spot. Although i think he may end up as a10, Bruno's replacement

He's already looking stronger and faster in the championship, and considering there aren't many good right footed wide players about, my gut feel is he ends up on the right.

You never know though, has a lovely weight on his passes so you may just be right

What's his current stats for Sunderland?

Not that good on FM. Always fluffs his lines in the decisive moments.

Sunderland 3-0 West Bromwich Albion
Diallo (2), 1 assist

EtH then recalls him and sends Elanga the other way.

Really been coming good for them as of late, love to see it :D

Rare loan we've done that has gone the way we'd hope

Quite impressive, tbh those numbers need improving, I hope for our sakes he keeps improving game by game.

5+1 in 14, but also 5+1 in his last 7.

But Sunderland won’t score a ton of goals. Nobody can sustain like all that many goals and assists for a fairly low scoring team. The top guy in the entire league has 9+3 in 22. If Diallo can get like 8+4 give or take in the remaining 24, it’s really good.

Christ how bad are these mugs? First set peice goal of the season in December.

Nice that he's found a manager who believes in him. That's half the battle with these loans.

He always had bags of ability, that much was obvious to see. Still remember the brilliant header he scored against Milan.

He is doing his thing in a physical league, plays a little like a left footed Sancho.

Sooo good for his confidence. He's really in form at the minute and clearly enjoying his football. Thanks for the vids @Samid
