He literally just said on Sky Sports that he was unsure about whether or not he would move now in January, but the deal is done now and it's the work permit that's holding the move up. He said we'll know more in the next couple of hours if the work permit issue is fixed.

Very excited about this signing, but really hope we've brought in a more established RW before he arrives. If it gets to January, and results/performances haven't picked up massively, there'll be pressure on him to perform from the off.
I really like that we're buying players for the future, and if it wasn't for the clusterfeck of other deals it makes sense why this one has happened on the last day of the window compared to 2/3 weeks ago, but we need to plug the gaping holes now.

I'm pretty sure we will be back in for Sancho. Hence these types of signings and not someone more established like Traore, Zaha etc.
I get that we need to strengthen our starting first team, but we haven't and it looks like we won't. Matt and his buddy Ed are incompetent, that gees without saying, but this signing is not something that they deserve to be criticized on. This is a fantastic signing and cuts out the middle part where we have to spend at least €140m to buy him in a few years.

Frankly I'm excited by signings like Traore and Pellistri for the very near future. Both could be in the first team next season. Traore a bit pricey but might justify it. This is after all, how Dortmund got Sancho. Just a shame if we don't have a RW for this season. It really didn't have to be Sancho. Could have been any of many viable options out there.
Well the club haven’t spent the 100m that we think he WILL be worth though have we? We’ve spent 25-30. The acceptance of uncertainty from both clubs is why Atalanta haven’t priced him at 150m already, the 25m is because both clubs clearly feel he is likely to get there. What I don’t get is why that needs to make sense to you or me at this stage.
Again, you can’t call it a ‘strange’ transfer if you don’t know the player you are talking about. Bebe at 10m was a ‘strange’ transfer in hindsight, not because it is unusual to pay 10m for a football player, but because the player in question turned out to have no talent at all. IF Traore turns out to have none, or simply ordinary talent, then the transfer will be strange. If it turns out he has the talent that very few possess, it would not be. However, it is surely blindingly obvious that that outcome needs to be determined before categorising. It’s just common sense.
If we had signed Mbappé from Monaco’s academy for 30m at 16, it would have been a fantastic deal. Juventus reportedly offered ‘life-changing money’ for Mason Greenwood last summer. Whether a lady who worked in a coffee shop in Turin knew how big a talent was would not have been the deciding factor as to whether or not Juventus signing him for 30m made sense or not. We still sing ‘50m down the drain’ in jest til’ this day about Martial, in response to British press declaring him a waste of money, purely on the basis that they didn’t know who he was.
I just think the internet makes everyone overvalue their opinion. Everyone can join the conversation, and nobody seems to be willing to just skip a question and say ‘I don’t really know enough to comment on that one’. The reality is, most here do NOT know enough, yet are forwarding arguments that this is a deal that shouldn’t be done. You don’t have to be excited, but unless you have evidence of otherwise, then at the very least reserve judgement in hope that the deal would be worth it.
Yes I understand we need to invest in the future, but for the sums being given for a kid who has done nothing of note is madness, and more so when its being suggested, there is a lack of money here thanks to the lost money on match day over covid and we need improvements now, so thats where the money needs to go and not a hopeful for the future, as he may fail miserably here for all we know.

I feel really bad for the club. They should never have acted like sancho was the top target and should have kept quiet on it. The lockdown hurt us financially and noone seems to appreciate how shady Dortmund were in this window. Every other team gets the benefit of the doubt with the media except us. Arsenal have been chasing Partey all summer, Spurs signed Bale who we were told not to get with a pat on the back who has still yet to play, Real, PSG and Barca have signed no significant players, yet we are the only ones with negative reactions due to transfers. With Fergie we had summers where we signed one or two players. We need to keep club activities quiet again.

I imagine United and you have different definitions of an ‘unknown’ footballer. You’re inability to grasp this is beyond me. WE obviously know a lot about him, hence why we’re spending big money on him. It is fine if you don’t. But just accept that you don’t.

No problemo, he's just an upcoming lad trying big things. Putting him too early into Solskjaer's team that looks like flying circus of Ed Woodward will be too much distracting, but he really need to get some games wherever he is now and if he's really that highly rated then Atalanta can benefit of bringing him more on the pitch.

I've been screaming for this sort of transfers for years. Pre Dortmund Sancho, Zaniolo etc are what we should look at and Amad Traore is that type of player. However 30m is big big money for an 18 year old
