We're never 3-1 up or in a position to have a two goal lead, so, you see the problem right there. He'd never play if only the optimal set of circumstances permitted. Furthermore, Fergie often used young and inexperienced players in somewhat pressure filled occasions because he understood that exposure to it was beneficial, not a hindrance, to their development, so long as the communication from the bench is that the player is free to make mistakes.

Yep. Ole doesn't seem to realize he's actually putting more pressure on the kid by not giving him consistent minutes.

Also, helping a young player come along can create immense amounts of positive squad morale.

One can probably write a book on how SAF managed his players vs how Ole's managing his.

Usually when people say "brushed off" that normally implies a body-to-body contact duel that was lost. So far as I remember from six minutes, he was dispossessed but not through a physical altercation.
The only occasion I can remember him losing the ball was him passing to the Leicester defence. Good to see the senior players rubbing off on him already.

Our players have a horrible habit of not knowing how to position themselves when off the ball. The angles they show (or rather don't) make the passing option riskier and more difficult. I think there's a certain truth to the idea that poor coaching or execution of a coaches instructions can make any single individual look poorer than they are. You put Diallo in that present City team and even with his relative inexperience his passing options are multiplied and therefore, his individual performance much better.

I completely agree. I was saying to my dad and brother that Maguire even if he passed it to Telles for their 1st goal, he'd have had to play it well infront of Telles because he wasn't positioned ready to receive the ball and Albrighton knew that and positioned himself well.

Anyone know if he came in today. Saw the match ended 3-1 but was called off 10 minutes early as the ref collapsed

With Rashford after taking another knock, Diallo really needs to be starting against Granada.

He must be below the standard we expected. To be fair he’s looked quality when I’ve seen him but Ole will play anyone but him.

If only he was English, he would have a dozen games by now...

Young player who came to United, who had NEVER started a men’s game when he joined takes time to get into the team... shocker. Stop the press.

Unlikely. He travelled with Bailly who caught COVID.

He has likely caught it or is in isolation until tests are negative for a while

Well James got the games when he was signed. So I don't being young is an issue.

Bringing on James is just wasting a sub. Did absolutely nothing apart from giving away ludicrous fouls. Don't think Amad will be worse.

Probably a stupid signing for that amount in a pandemic when we needed to address the position.

So many butt hurt posters here who are upset because a young kid who has barely played any football has only had a few minutes, shocker!

It will take a couple of years to integrate him and that is assuming he is even good enough. Give the lad some space and time to develop.

Stupid signing if thats the case

how many years older is Dan James? He’s 5 years older than Amad. So 4 years older that him when he joined the club, after playing in the championship and being a full international.

how does that compare to an 18 year old kid, who had never started a men’s football match? h

Why would a manager bring him on at that stage of a league game? James has been in good form as well.

Amad was on the bench today. Ole said in the post-game presser that Bailly has not returned to the UK yet due to his positive test.

This is so boring. I wish posters would have a mind of there own. They guy cost £37m

Just call it as it is. If we didn’t plan on using him don’t pay the dosh for him. It an old Real Madrid move which posters used to hate back in the day.

I can see him looking to leave in the summer as Ole is not giving him a chance at all.
Surely no one bit

The same posters who want him brought on will be the 1st to cut him for been ineffective .
Patience needed

Was he 37m pounds up front ye, interesting

You should be. He’s not going to play...
Top 4 basically a formality now.
I'll be surprised if he doesn't get at least 1 start against either Burnley, Leeds or Fulham. With a decent chance for other involvements.

He won’t start unless it’s the final game of the season which im banking on it being. I think a few kids will get a game as usual and I can’t see him not being involved in that. They’ll be nothing to play for.

Even at £18m he's in the top 15 most expensive teenagers in premier league history? You'd expect a team lacking a right winger for a decade to buy a player who is a little more ready really.

All those crying for him to play on the right wing.. do you suggest dropping Mason for him? Rashford? Cavani? I highly doubt it. I don't know what you guys expect, he's been here about 12 weeks, he's still only 18 with a handful of senior minutes to his name. Patience is required.

Every player in the world is a limited edition.

United buying a player worth £18m considered an established starter for his position would be a big joke.

We wouldn't want any of those players on our team. Rather get Amad who likely is ready for more involvements next year.

Makes us less desperate for someone like Sancho, who might still join us this summer for something like £50-70m when Dortmund realizes they have to get rid and we aren't falling over for him.

Don’t moan when he’s not ready next season and we don’t have money to get a first team RW. Bare in mind Rashford plays with a lot of injuries. Won’t be surprised if he has an Opp before the start of next season.

So not sure how less desperate we are tbh.

I think it was really naive to think he'd be the solution to the RW, which along with a proper CDM is the biggest priority for the club to perform better IMO. He's a kid, he's going to need time to adapt and I think Ole's making the right move, he knows what he's seeing in training. I'm sure he'll get some more minutes before the season ends but I have zero expectations for him right now.
