not many can do this to Rio....magic player on his day but like physio says, not consistent enough. Brilliant 7. round pick though, lot of worse players went earlier.

Very good pick at turn 7. Mourinho turned him into a proper player rather than a lily-livered fancy-dan. He's the only genuine option England have had on the left since Barnes and Waddle were on the go. The cruciate injury in 2009 was game over though for his career.
 
Okay, we're actually not sure yet if we'll play him RW or LW, could work both ways imo and if I recall he played mostly on the right for Chelski with Robben or ******** On the left didn't he? Especially at his prime. He definitely start the CL on the right.

Him and Robben swapped sides quite a lot. I'd certainly say he's best on the left, but he's adaptable and proven enough to make it work on both sides.

21 greats and Gary Kelly. Still, Anto passed on the opportunity to snap up Rivaldo who would have torn the Irishman a new hole. As it was Kelly somehow managed to hold his own and didn't quite receive the brutal examination that might have been expected at that stage.

Kelly's steady in this company though in fairness berba.

Rookie mistake, it was my first draft and I thought Forlán and Zidane would be enough. :rolleyes:
 
Joe cole has had a very similar career to nani in my eyes.. he had all the promise in the world.. showed a close to world class finished product occasionally but you couldnt depend on him. I remember their being one season where is was very good more than pish other than that it was half and half..

P.s is it still skizzos go??

I've never seen it that way, I actually rate Nani's peak quite highly after seeing score that scorcher against Boro inside OT, a moment to remember, but Joe Cole was always the smarter one. Nani could've had an amazing day and the next 5 matches he'd be average, I never got that feeling from Cole(although I admit I watched plenty more United than Chelsea). Cole seemed like he had his good periods and his bad periods, when he was good he was bloody good(as in that video of his goal against us), and in his bad periods he was out for months or just shit. That good season really came in 08 under Grant, where he got picked for Chelsea's team of the season(mostly starting at RW position). As we all love to remember, Cheslea lost in all three competitions but finished close 2nd in the PL, 2nd in the CL and 2nd in the league cup - so in that time's Chelsea it was a season to remember from them, this close from being heros, with Joe Cole as one of the main players.


But I agree, he was never the leading man, there were always the Lampards and Drogbas to lead the line, and we have Bergkamp, so Joe cole will be on his good team player role.

I can't believe he lasted this long. We were badly regretting not picking him up in our last round of picks as the pool of creative midfielders was small enough to begin with and is seriously dwindling now.

You run through the R8 picks and it is astonishing he is in that company... and relatively bottom of that pile to boot.
 
Spoke to Aldo about having Juninho in the last round and decided against it for this time around..

On phone so can't put pics on...

First pick, the best remaining keeper in the premier league.....Petr Cech.

Second pick - after losing out on Gary Kelly I'll go for his Ian Harte to add some discipline, pace and energy alongside JT.

Yeah, I figured as much, but that would have been a beautiful partnership and your team has a Juninho-sized hole in it now (actually, much bigger than the little fella). Does Clichy potentially leave such a hole? Not in a million years.

Sometimes you just have to ignore all this guessing and double guessing and go for the player that matters.
