All time ODI Draft

Yup, Fanie had Sachin's number. Sachin couldn't play him well. We had thought of getting Fanie last round only when we went for Mills as we in the end decided to have someone of Mills type of bowler. Anyway, both Ambrose and Lee are enough to care of Sachin in our team :p
We actually have three players now who had Sachin's number. Cronje, Fanie and McGrath

In test though. Wasn't that great in ODI. I was looking at him before but went for Simon o'donnell instead.
Which means you had not watched enough

+H.Cronje, he had him some 5 times or so.

You missed J.Anderson :)

Amazing that Sachin managed to score a few runs even though every team had a bowler who had his number

Quality allrounder. Good finisher and a nice bowler to boot!

Chris Harris was a bit shit I thought.

There's a more recent all rounder I'd have preferred ahead of him

Come on.. let's have a quick turn around now. Everyone has had plenty of times to prepare big list of options.

Harris was pretty good. With the bat especially, but a touch slow, which is why we avoided him. An ok ok bowler though. And btw, whilst everyone talks about getting Sachin's number, there is one player who has gone completely under the radar thus far. God only knows how we can stop him :nervous:

A batting average of 29 which includes 62 not outs. That's average at best

62 NO is rather impressive tbh, even if he is only coming in to bat for the last 5-10 overs. Even Dhoni probably has about the same no of NOs. I agree, he won't set the world on fire, but at this stage of the draft, there really aren't too many left.

Harris was your quintessential NZ ODI player. Jack of all trades but master of none. Though his fielding was very good. Overall, Harris was a really good ODI player. Solid middle/lower order batsman, excellent fielder and a very nifty bowler. Deserved to get picked.

That's the point. Likes of Dhoni, Bevan and co average in the 50's with so many notouts. Harris is sub 30. You have to have a good top 6 if you want to get away with Harris.

That tag would probably go to Scott Styris for me.

Harris is rated because they were few good genuine all rounders at the time. He isn't anything special. A good option sure but not top class player and all. This round is kind of right for him

Yeah, it was like Styris, Oram, Harris, Cairns, Astle, all came from nowhere in the span of just a few years.

Harris bats at #7 or #8. How is that comparable with Dhoni and Bevan whose best are between #4 - #6?
Ofc Dhoni and Bevan are better players and they got picked in R1. Have no idea why you'd compare a R1 pick with a R10 pick and point out they are weaker!

Harris stats:
#7 - 104 innings for 2130 runs (9 50s) at 31.31 average.
#8 - 23 innings for 519 runs (2 50s) at 39.92 average.

He's a solid tail end batsman and a useful utility bowler with 203 wkts to his name too.

Styris is underrated! Harris was never capable of something like this
Don't think he is underrated. Think he is appropriately rated. Everyone knows what his qualities were. Like I said, Styris is probably the proper Jack of all Trades, more than Harris (I don't mean that term to be derogatory, it is rather a compliment)
