Yeah, but If it was the last 10 overs, and I desperately needed a wicket, I know who I would prefer. Zaheer's record is a little inflated because he did well against the likes of Zimbabwe and co. Agarkar has more four wicket hauls and more 5 wicket hauls depsite the fact that he played 9 fewer games. Add to this, he can bat too. His only negative was that, he used to go for a bit too many runs.He was our second best player in 2011 world cup.
Zaheer was terrific in the World Cup 2011. Having said that Agarkar's ODI record is pretty good.
Agarkar's stats are a bit skewed due to the insane start he made to his career.Yeah, but If it was the last 10 overs, and I desperately needed a wicket, I know who I would prefer. I don't take anything away from Zak. It's just a personal preference.
How can you call that skewed ? He had all the ability in the world and made a mark when he started his career. Same as Pathan. Almost all cricketers get found out eventually. Zaheer on the other hand, did well against Zimbabwe, Ireland, Kenya etc. He was almost useless against Australia, and very average against the rest.Agarkar's stats are a bit skewed due to the insane start he made to his career.
I mean both his ability is overrated due to the brilliant start he made where he was just superb. Looked like we had finally found a tier 1 allrounder. He went downhill after the first 50 odd games and never reached that level again. I won't take his ability to take wickets away from him, he had that but I wouldn't place him alongside zaheer either. Zaheer led our bowling attack and was pretty much always our only good pacer and his stats aren't very different to agarkar either. Much more reliable and consistent and a very good death bowlerHow can you call that skewed ? He had all the ability in the world and made a mark when he started his career. Same as Pathan. I like Zak too. but he was just consistent and tireless, that's all. Since this a draft where we talk about players in their prime, the rampaging Agarkar has to be taken into consideration does he not?
Agree with the consistency part. Not so much about being a better Death bowler. Agarkar would almost guarantee you wickets in the final 10.Much more reliable and consistent and a very good death bowler
Agreed. He had amazing potential. All that nonsense about making him an allrounder and even going to the lengths of playing him at 3, 4 totally fecked him.Pathan got fecked by that cnut chappell. Quite easily the best fast bowler we've produced in my life time
Alright. Agree to disagree I guess.Agree with the consistency part. Not so much about being a better Death bowler. Agarkar would almost guarantee you wickets in the final 10.
Nice pick. Was wondering if he would go unpicked

We want him for past 3 or 4 round, had some confidence that no one would go after him other than people watched him play in 90's
Brilliant bowler, most of the batsmen struggled against him.
Thank you.Nice going. Quite a good pace attack you have put together

Making Sachin Tendulkar his bunny: Ask any bowler around the world in the 90s and they will tell you that one of their biggest challenges was conquering a man called ‘Sachin Tendulkar’. However de Villiers was one bowler, who even the master had a tough time mastering. De Villiers troubled Tendulkar and got him out a couple of times in 1996. De Villiers said to ESPNCricinfo, “County cricket taught me how to bowl the off-cutter, which is what you should bowl to Tendulkar all the time. I am not talking slower balls — the fast off-cutters.”
We got him to mostly suffocate the rotation of strike. One of the best economies. Him and McGrath will make scoring runs a chore. In test though. Wasn't that great in ODI. I was looking at him before but went for Simon o'donnell instead.
His record as a test bowler is amazing - he'd be higher if this is a test draft. His ODI record isn't as good as his test, but I think he's lethal.Broad has a surprisingly good record. I never knew that till now.
But iirc, I don't actually think he was picked in the Test drafts though. His record as a test bowler is amazing - he'd be higher if this is a test draft. His ODI record isn't as good as his test, but I think he's lethal.
We'll just make sure he doesn't bowl to Gibbs.
Yup, Fanie had Sachin's number. Sachin couldn't play him well. We had thought of getting Fanie last round only when we went for Mills as we in the end decided to have someone of Mills type of bowler. Anyway, both Ambrose and Lee are enough to care of Sachin in our teamJust a little teaser.
