Milan and Germany legend, Schnellinger is one of the greatest defenders ever to come from Germany, some even rank him as the number one. He mainly played at left back but was also able to fill in at central defence. He was known for his great positional play, tackling ability, physique, pace and his winning mentality. Moreover, Schnellinger also did offensively duty well especially his long passing. He was voted in third place for the European Footballer Of The Year in 1962.

It is not easy to come from Italy and be remembered as one of the best defenders of all time. Burgnich who played for Inter Milan is one who has managed to do this. He made 66 caps for Italy between 1963 and 1974. He played both in central defense and as a right back. He is most known for his defensive side of the game. Often included at right back in all time Italy sides and that is something special for a defender.

He is the blueprint for all Barca’s current success; Xavi, Iniesta and Fàbregas have all stated that he was their role model and hero. Guardiola could put some wonder balls where no one else would, a great player to watch. European Cup and multiple La Liga winner Pep Guardiola.

A crisp passer with incredible vision; an elegant athlete who was deceptively quick and strong; aggressive in the tackle, and outstanding tactically. Maybe the most complete defensive midfielder of all-time. The most striking thing about him was how little he seemed to look at the ball. His head was always up whether he had the ball at his feet or not. He seemed constantly aware of what was happening around him, as if he was two moves ahead of the opposition. A Real Madrid legend who won Champions League two times together with La Liga two times during his time there.

Dragan Džajić (left winger)

One of the best players ever to come from Eastern Europe, Džajić has been known for his "great crosses and passes, unstoppable dribbling with great pace, natural technique and some of the best left footed free kicks ever seen". Regarded by some as Europe's greatest ever left winger and third place in European Footballer of the Year in 1968. A great goalscorer who had over 400 goals in his career.

La Galerna del Cantábrico (The Gale of the Cantabrian Sea), as he was known, played outside-left and was noted not only for having great speed (he could run 100 meters in 11 seconds flat and was almost as quick with a ball at his feet), but also for his skills with the ball and his scoring prowess from the midfield position. He captained a young side, known in Spain as Ye-yé, because of the popularity of The Beatles at that time. Augusto is a legend of the Portuguese game, known for his amazing pace, blistering skill, and accurate crossing, He first caught attention at his local team of FC Barreirense and he debuted for the national team on 7 May 1958, in a friendly match against England that Portugal lost 1-2. The next year he moved to S.L. Benfica, where he played from 1958/59 to 1968/69, before ending his career at 32. As a Benfica player he achieved the status of one of the legends of the Golden Years of his team, like his team mates, Eusébio, Mário Coluna, Costa Pereira and António Simões. He played in the two European Champions Cup finals which Benfica won (1961 and 1962), and in the lost finals of 1963, 1965 and 1968.
He had 45 caps for the national team, scoring 9 goals, and played with the Magriços, the team that reached 3rd place at the 1966 World Cup finals, losing only in the semi-final to England (1-2). He scored the first and third goals (1' & 67') in the debut victory over Hungary national football team (3-1). His last game for the national team on December 11, 1968 was a disappointing defeat to Greece in Athens (4-2), for the 1970 FIFA World Cup qualification. He decided to finish his career the same season to become a coach.

Michael John "Johnny" Giles (born 6 November 1940, in Ormond Square, Dublin, Ireland) is a former association footballer and manager best remembered for his time as a midfielder with Leeds United in the 1960s and 1970s. Since retiring from management in 1985, Giles has served as "the Senior Analyst" on RTÉ Sport's coverage of association football.
Giles grew up in Ormond Square, a working-class area of inner-city Dublin, where he developed much of the skills that would aid him in becoming a professional footballer. He was encouraged to enter the game through his father Christy who played for Bohemians in the 1920s and managed Drumcondra during the 1940s.
The FAI voted Giles as the greatest Republic of Ireland player of the last 50 years at the UEFA Jubilee Awards in 2004. In 2006, he was chosen by supporters at Elland Road as a member of the best ever Leeds United XI.
England's World Cup winning manager, Sir Alf Ramsey, said of Giles' influence as a player on English football:

After winning an FA Cup winners medal under Busby at United, Giles moved to Leeds in 1963 where he played in midfield alongside skipper Billy Bremner. The duo went on to form a central midfield partnership which was one of the best in English club football. Their pairing helped yield several major trophies in the most successful era in Leeds' history. By strange coincidence, Giles and Bremner would both score exactly 115 goals for the club, casting doubt on the modern penchant for "holding" midfield players.

Martin Stanford Peters, MBE (born 8 November 1943) is a former football player and manager and a member of the England team which won the 1966 World Cup as well as playing in the 1970 FIFA World Cup.[1] Born in Plaistow, London) he played club football for West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Norwich City and Sheffield United. He briefly managed Sheffield United before retiring from professional football in 1981.
Known as "the complete midfielder" as he could pass the ball well with either foot, was good in the air and difficult to mark because of his movement.[2] A free kick specialist, Peters was described by England manager Sir Alf Ramsey, after a game against Scotland in 1968, as being "ten years ahead of his time".[3] His versatility was such that while he was at West Ham he played in every position in the team, including goalkeeper in his third game, replacing an injured Brian Rhodes.[4] [2] With his transfer from West Ham United to Tottenham Hotspur in 1970, he became Britain's first £200,000 footballer.[5]

Paul Jane

Paul Janes (March 10, 1912 in Leverkusen-Küppersteg – June 12, 1987 in Düsseldorf) was a German football player. He earned 71 caps and scored 7 goals for the Germany national football team from 1932 to 1942,[1] and played in two World Cups: 1934 and 1938. Janes was a member of the Breslau Eleven that beat Denmark 8:0 in Breslau in 1937 and went on to win 10 out 11 games played during that year.
The DFB German Football Association (German FA) list him in the top 20 best German footballers of all time.
One of the best full backs of his era, Paul Janes established a record for most German caps which wasn’t broken until 1970. Janes started out as a right half back, but during the 1934 World Cup he debuted as right back and stayed at that position for some 4 seasons before moving back into a sweeper roll. He was injured during the 1936 Olympics and thus was spared of the embarrassing defeat of Germany by Norway. During the latter half of the 1930s, Germany possessed one of the strongest full back pairings in European football with Paul Janes on the right and Reinhold Münzenberg on the left side. Vittorio Pozzo, the coach of World Champions Italy, nominated Janes for a 1937 continental selection, but Janes could not participate due to an injury. One of Janes’ best assets was his powerful yet accurate shooting ability, which gave him the nickname "World Champion of Precision". His trademark were hard shots from all possible angles, his seven goals for Germany all came from either freekicks (4) or penalties (3). He was also a very calm player that kept his cool even in nerve-wrecking situations. Sepp Herberger said the following about Janes’ characteristics: "He rarely was caught off-guard on the pitch, as he had the ability to anticipate what the opponent was planning and he interpreted defensive play always as the first step in building up the next attack."[2] Despite his calmness and overall cleverness, Janes was renowned for an extravaganza that he had imported from South America: He was the first German footballer to specialize in the acrobatic bicycle kick.
During World War II, Janes served in the Reichsmarine. He captained Germany 31 times. Despite his age of 38, Janes almost would have had a comeback for Germany in the first international game after WWII in 1950, but he broke his foot shortly before and thus had to finish his career for good. Janes was known to be a silent man who didn’t divulge in too much talking. In 1934, he was asked about how it was like playing in the World Cup in Italy, his response was: "Warm".[2]
His home team was Fortuna Düsseldorf, where he worked as trainer after the war. He also coached Eintracht Trier.[3] During his playing career Düsseldorf dominated the (topflight) district division through the late 1920s and 1930s, winning the Western German football championship in 1931, the German football championship in 1933 and a German Vice-Championship in 1936. The club also appeared in the final of the Tschammerpokal, predecessor of today's German Cup, in 1937. The Paul-Janes-Stadion in Düsseldorf-Flingern is one of Grounds from Fortuna Düsseldorf (1930–1972 and 2002–2005) named after their famous son.
In his 1978 book "Fussball", Helmut Schön characterised Janes as follows:
"A man who could fight but also able to play technically brilliant. He was gifted with a simply phenomenal spin kick; he scored countless goals with freekicks from 30 or 40 meters with his glass-hard shot."

Paolo Maldini

Paolo Cesare Maldini (born 26 June 1968) is an Italian former footballer who played as a left or central defender, being adept with either foot although naturally right footed. He spent all 25 seasons of his career at Serie A club Milan, before retiring at the age of 41 in 2009, becoming a symbol and a legend of the club. During that period, he won the Champions League five times, as well as seven Serie A titles, one Coppa Italia, five Supercoppa Italiana, five European Super Cups, two Intercontinental Cups. He played for 14 years for the Italian national team, making his debut in 1988 before retiring in 2002 with 126 caps and four World Cup participations.
Maldini played at a world class level for his entire career spanning 2 and a half decades, and won the Best Defender trophy at the UEFA Club Football Awards at the age of 39. He came second to George Weah for the FIFA World Player of the Year Award in 1995, the closest a defender had ever reached to winning the award, until Fabio Cannavaro, a fellow Italian won the award in 2006. He made his professional debut at the tender age of 18 for the Argentinian team Quilmes, but “El Pato” was destined for bigger things, and Racing Club snapped him up 3 years later, where he managed to save 6 penalty saves, which is a record in the Argentinian league, this impressed so much that he was signed by River Plate that season, where we went on to win 7 league championships with River Plate as their number one goalkeeper, and was known to be one of Rivers most influential players in the team with 361 appearances over 11 years, the most a goalkeeper ever achieved for River. A record he still holds today. Fillol also had successful stints with Flamengo, Athleico Madrid, Argentinos Juniors and Vélez Sársfield.
However successful Fillol was domestically, it was the international stage from which this man will be remembered forever, representing his country in 3 different world cups, replacing Daniel Carnevali the 1974 tournament after lacklustre performances, with an excellent display against East Germany, in which he saved a barrage of shots on his goal to earn his side a point in a 1-1 draw, which wasn’t enough to send Argentina through to the Quarter Finals, however it was 1978 in which El Pato would go on to secure his place in Argentinian football fans forever, He proved to be a decisive element against Poland, saving a penalty by Kazimierz Deyna, and helping Argentina to win the first World Cup with a superb performance in the final against Holland. Fillol was voted the best goalkeeper of the 1978 World Cup. Four years later, in 1982, Argentina were beaten by Italy and Brazil and failed to reach the semi-final.
Domestic Honours: His honours include 5 league titles with River Plate, a Brazilian cup with Flamengo, A Spanish Super Cup with Atlético Madrid, as well as the 1988 South American, and Inter American Cups.

Facts: 6 penalty saves in the 1972 season, Worlds best goalkeeper in 1978, 54 uninterrupted appearances for his national team, was labelled the best goalkeeper in the history of South America by the worlds media.
 
Deco

Anderson Luís de Souza, OIH (born 27 August 1977 in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil), commonly known as Deco, is a Brazilian-born Portuguese professional footballer who currently plays for Fluminense.
Deco is one of the few players to have won the UEFA Champions League with two different clubs – FC Porto in 2004 and FC Barcelona in 2006. He was named UEFA Club Footballer of the Year and UEFA Best Midfielder in Porto's Champions League-winning season and was named Man of the Match in the 2003–04 Champions League final. Deco was the first player to win the UEFA Best Midfielder Award with two different clubs, Porto and Barcelona. He was awarded the FIFA Club World Cup Golden Ball and the Man of the Match award in the final despite losing to Internacional.
Deco received Portuguese citizenship in 2002 having completed five years of Portuguese residence, subsequently opting to play internationally for the Portugal national football team.
 
Didier Deschamps

Didier Claude Deschamps (French pronunciation: ​[di.dje de.ʃã] ; born 15 October 1968 in Bayonne) is a retired French footballer and current manager of France . He played as a defensive midfielder for such clubs as Chelsea, Juventus and Marseille. As an international, he captained France to victories in the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000.
As well as winning two French league titles in 1991 and 1992, Deschamps was part of the Marseille team which became the first; and so far only French winners of the Champions League in 1993. Also he was the youngest captain ever to lead his team to the Champions League title when they won. On 8 July 2012, Deschamps was named the manager of the French national team.

All of my players are winners, Fillol, Maldini, Ronaldo, Deschamps are just some of my players that won the world cup, with Gento being the most decorated player in the history of the champion’s league.

Defence
Maldini, in my opinion is the greatest defender of all time, he had it all, he will be on the left side of my defines, the opposite side of Paul Jane, the best ever pre-war fullback, who was deadly with set pieces, as well as being one of Germanys most consistent players of all time.
Jaap Stam, was a beast, a phenom, and most importantly, a winner. He won trophies everywhere he went, and last but not least, is Gamarra, a terrier of a defender, who was fearless in a tackle, and unbeatable in the air.

Overall my defence consists of equal amounts of composure, class and footballing ability, with sheer defensive power and aggression, Maldini and Jane are both conservative in defence, but extremely dangerous going forward, Gamarra was also famed for his ability to score and set up, so when Maldini drops back, Gamarra can push up on that left hand side.

My midfield is made up of 2 ''box to box midfielders'' in Giles and Peters, Giles, to me was as creative as Paul Scholes, but as industrious as Roy Keane, and although he may not of had the defensive abilities of Keane, he more than made up for it with his technique, an outstanding passer, complimented by England’s world Cup hero, Martin Peters, who was also a complete midfielder, known for his accurate passing with both feet, great long shot, and sheer aggression in the tackle, he could play anywhere.

Gento, is the quickest player of all time, nobody in the draft was more dangerous down that left hand side, and he had a tremendous work rate, and can cut in and cause problems to any defenders, I'm really not exaggerating his pace, he was the quickest ever. Augusto, was a member of Benficas best ever team, and has been dubbed the greatest out and out winger to come out of Portugal, an 8 time Portuguese winner, and 2 times European cup winner, Augusto was an insanely quick winger with a tremendous cross.

I don't even know where to begin with my strike force, this is what should bring me through, Law and Ronaldo, they guarantee you goals, they're the type of player that can take any game by the scruff of the neck and drag their team through, two world class players.

I'd like to point out that I've learned a lot over the past week or two, and although I don't expect to win this, especially as I had to stay off this for the last few days due to personal issues, I've thoroughly enjoyed it.
