Change of formation. I'd like to know if 5-2-2-1 is still alive.

You have to PM Brwned too..

Iso, why experiment when ahead? Unless the idea is you are protecting a lead, which many won't see.

I reckon any advantage Iso has is now gone. Midfield is even, and i'd comfortably handle his attack. Irwin vs Blokhin will definitely be a blood bath...

I would have Santamaria in the middle myself, him having played in that same role in three man backlines for Real (actually, as the sole centre-half).

Hansen played 4-4-2 and will be more comfortable with a CB slot.

I wouldn't make Irwin and Cabrini look like wingbacks all the way up on the halfway line, they are there to defend, I hope.

Also make sure you make the case for it, and Finney ahead of Hagi. It's not a bad move, but you need to sell it right.

You can all feck off if you think I'm making 10 changes to the OP every game. Every day I've woken up with some sort of task to do in these threads and today I woke up with 6 PMs...

Blokhin took this game over and will win it for NM IMO, isotopes just too stubborn!

NM has a good team pretty well setup to deal with the opposition, I don't care about spelling mistakes!

I gotta go so going to vote now. Game of two halves this. First half Iso set himself up to frustrate NM and was aided by some misguided team directives which had turned Passarella into a liability and left the midfield bereft of the necessary creativity, as Neeskens had his hands full with defensive duties. Iso still lacked some bite, but in one incidence Raúl forced Passarella into an error and Zico capitalised. 0-1

Second half NM rectified things and his team started flowing nicely. Iso was quick to react with a sturdier defensive setup and a more counter-attacking approach. The relative weakness of the right flank was exploited, resulting in two goals for NM. But then Finney's inclusion and a greater freedom and space for Matthaus to take the initiative, had resulted in a goal on the counter.

Overall, draw, so voting in that direction.

 Antohan, when you are talking about misguided team directives and rectifying things in the second half, you are just referring to Passarella playing next to Thuram?!

You've turned that into a far bigger deal than it was.

NM and theon - I felt like you should have given Veron a lot more stick, he was such a waste in the starting line ups.

Someone vote so we can avoid that bullshit penalty solution!

Not a minor deal if you have ever seen a wrong footed CB cost his team dearly. It rarely happens because few managers would make such an incompetent call.

But it was't just that, and I explained that earlier, you kept changing Pele's role and alienated Kalle referring to him as Ruminigge during your team talk.

Where did I spell his name wrong?

And Pele's role was never changed, he was always given a free role.

Poll doesn't close for another 50 minutes, I'm just biding my time...

FYI Isotope and NM, I'm strongly against bribes. Absolute abhor them.

You know it tells us who voted in the poll already? I think people would be more appreciative if you explained your vote rather than stated it...

Bribes? Interesting, we'll have to refer that to calciopoli

Btw, this has panned out exactly as I expected. Had been dead for ages and the moment I bumped it explaining my vote it was only going to bring NM more votes.

As I said, with the house in order NM is good for a 2-1 2nd half, 4-2 overall. Wouldnkt expect iso to get back into this, but he sure has given NM a major scare which, on paper, was never on the cards.

:nono: while I share the interest in people explaining votes, no need to get sarccy with neutral voters who have taken an interest. The more of them around the better, otherwise it's all a bit clique and predictable.

So, if you think, the game would be a draw, you vote for the team wth less votes so far? That doesn't make sense to me. After all, if the team you voted for wins the game, you didn't vote for a draw, you voted for one team to win and one team to loose.

If he doesn't want to explain his vote that's fine by me, just don't go spamming the threads with information we already have!

Voted for NM. Thought from the beginning that Isotope wasted players in midfield. Brwned once called Matthäus a one man midfield or something like that, I think that describes him very well. If you've got one player who could own that part of the game almost by himself, even on the highest level, why sacrifice players somewhere else on the pitch to overload the area around him. Can't see Isotopes midfield preventing NM from creating chances, there's no way you could isolate that front 4, especially not with Pele dropping deep to help out in midfield and Passarella moving forward if necessary. I'm not really convinced that Raul is the right player upfront in Isotope's lineup and he's in serious trouble down the flanks.

Oh and, I didn't care at all, if someone misspelled Kalle Rummenigge. I'm from Munich, supporting Bayern all my life and I love that you found that amazing sexy knees video, that I didn't know about and lots of my friends enjoyed over the last days. Who cares about a misspelled name, if you put so much effort into this draft game, research players and talk about them in such a beautiful way.

Agree with this.

Re: the voting for a draw. Yesterday I would have certainly voted for Iso, but waited to see how the game panned out. When I went to bed NM was still 3 behind, had he still been behind this morning my vote would have gone that way. When I go for the "should be a draw" vote I usually do it late, so it shouldn't result in a win but a draw at best. I just had to go offline and can't vote on the phone.

I'm not a native English speaker, I don't pick on grammar/spelling but I do take issue with greats having their names treated that way. The least we can do is get the spelling right.

I think the better team won, just surprised at how difficult they (and Iso) made it for such a clearly superior side -on paper..

Wow this changed quickly. Is the match over? I have some thoughts I want to post.

Thoughts:

Iso was the one team that I did not want to face - great midfield, and as Antohan has said - he capitalized brilliantly with the formation

I still think the caf greatly overrates midfield due to our current midfield

Iso essentially committed hara-kiri by changing formation. We had a PM converstion that I will not reveal the contents off - but there is no doubt that Iso knew that changing formations would cost him votes.

I actually think we should limit the number of formation changes and the amount of posts the 2 managers can make in the game. It stops the spouting of bollocks.

On the whole - I want to tip my hat to Iso. It was great fun.

NM team is one of the best so far. It's interesting to see that midfield control is more appreciated than better attack. Although admittedly, NM should win the game in an actual match.

Indeed, he really made a game out of it.

BTW, mate, the whole spelling thing. If I thought you didn't give two shits I wouldn't bother reiterate it (or have Theon telling me it's not mis-spelt anywhere and I'm making stuff up), but you strike me as the sort of fella who wouldn't want to make such a disservice to your own stars.

 Stop crying antohan. I said I didn't spell his name wrong, which I didn't.

The whole thing was ludicrously petty anyway, NM had to write those up in barely any time because I said I'd help him as he's been really busy but ended up going on an urgent trip and losing access to the internet. Not his fault at all, he had no time and IIRC he had to do it at work as well, so who gives a shit if he didn't have time to check everyones name.

No worries - I understand.

As per Theon's posts - I had to do it urgently at work as he had to go on a trip. That's what caused the mess up.

EDIT: And when I wasn't at work I was drinking so it didn't help!

Players would. People in general don't like to be continuously called a different name by their boss just because their boss can't be bothered to learn it because it is not Smith, Jones, or Peters. I've seen it drive foreigners up the wall, particularly in England.

No worries - I understand.

Aldo went on a trip? Are you still under the influence? :smirk:

In any case, the main points were Pelé's role and the Passarella feckup, which really was a big deal IMO. Never expected you to lose the game anyhow.

Glad you enjoyed that. I did too

Balu's posts have been great in all the threads, loved his description of Lahm in the other match as well.
