All-Time Club XIs

Mainz XI
Sven Demandt
Andre Schürrle - Mohamed Zidan
Elkin Soto - Julian Baumgartlinger - Jürgen Kramny
Marco Rose - Nikolce Noveski - Manuel Friedrich - Zdenek Pospech
Dimo Wache
I've chosen the Klopp era Christmas tree formation, as there really aren't any deserving right wingers. Defence and attack are certs, not entirely sure about the midfield picks bar Soto.

A bit narrow-ish, but it suited the personnel somewhat. Really interested in seeing the old school USSR club lineups - Topredo, Tbilsi, et al.

Pretty much.
Perhaps Barnes on the left and Liddell moves to the right?
And the likes of Emlyn Hughes and Ron Yeats can be featured in some way. Hughes is highly regarded, from all accounts.
Good shout. Yeah Barnes should be there and that's perhaps the way to do it. I'd have put Yeats in ahead of Raisbeck on the premise he'd be a better foil for Hansen, but wanted a nod to the pre-45 era.

Unlucky to Apollini, Fuser, Asprillia, Chiesa, Adriano.

Valencia:

Agree on the defence. But I think you have to build your midfield around the driving force behind Valencia's Champions League challenging team and twice UEFA Midfielder of the Year.

Like that side a lot, and as that Aimar side was one of my favourites to watch, it was difficult to leave that trio out. Tbh, on any given day, I'd switch my side around, but Waldo, Villa, Kempes would always be in for me, so there'd have to be some kind of sacrifice made with the midfield either way.

Buffon
Thuram Cannavaro Gentile Carbrini
Pirlo
Zidane Nedved
Platini
Baggio Del Perio

Chelsea:

Forgoing width beings as Chelsea at their peak were the ultimate bully boys. Hard to take out players to add wingers for them.

You left out Stam and Ronaldo!
They've had a lot of great strikers. RVN and Luc Nilis we're a great partnership as well.
Maybe Van Bommel deserves to be in there as well.
Nobody I'd remove to put them in. Romario was incredible for PSV and more mature than the kid Ronaldo. Popescu and Koeman have the passing distribution Dutch football is founded upon and Van Bommel isn't better than Jansen and not a patch on Van Hanegem.

Athletic Club

The defense and back four kind of picks itself. Andoni Zubizaretta wasn't at the club long enough, and had this peak at Barcelona. And even that aside, and including Zubi, Jose Iribar is still arguably the best keeper in their history. Ditto Jesus Garay, Aitor Larrazabel (shame Lizarazu didn't play long enough) and Jose Orue, each the best defender the club have had at the position. Only debatable choice is Agustin Guisasola for Andoni Goikoetrxea. Could've gone with Jose Belauste for Javi Martinez, but the latter was superb for Athletic Club once he got going. Telmo Zarra is a fixture up the pitch, as is Piru Gainza. After those two, it's a grey area. Agustin Bata, Joseba Etxeberria or Txetxu Rojo for Guillermo Gorostiza, maybe Pichichi, but he's kind of ancient, more of a myth. Also struggled between Fran Yeste and Julen Guerrero.
