All time British+Irish Fantasy Draft

We basically lacked the bollocks to set up a more cut-throat group stage. So many of the games were dead rubbers.

I get it. Here they'd all be win or lose type of matches. Every team would play two matches, so any result would be be the win/lose type of deal. Even every vote would matter as it would go to how big the wins were if all three teams ends up on the same.

I can certainly understand Lynk's reluctance to carry on - it's hard to find the motivation given the circumstances. But I maintain that it's more than possible to salvage something here.

Would anyone be interested in taking over for him - IF his decision is final?

Don't talk about that damn Tevezbola round. :D

I doubt anybody will come in and take over and do a good job considering he's already down on his budget and has started picking. Usually just the case of someone being the "caretaker" rather.

It would be really mental if we had a Tevezobola round and kick one picked player out of the draft now
I think that those rounds should've stayed, tbf. A brilliant idea that keeps you on the edge the whole time. Though I preferred injuries/Rio to Tevezbola.

 They're brilliant for some drafts but I can say after that draft I wouldn't have played more if it was the only type of drafts we did.

The lottery rounds draw so much energy.

Not going to get into any match thread style bickering here, but if you're going to use that as an argument against those players, it's going to be fairly easy to counter it.

On top of facing one of the greatest teams ever in their pomp, England were tactically outplayed and suffered from immense hubris. They didn't lose because of the individual quality of the players you highlight.

Barca were utterly humiliated over two legs by Bayern a couple of years ago. Should imply there's every reason to put question marks over Xavi, Iniesta, Biscuits – even Messi himself. It obviously doesn't work that way, though – as I'm sure you know.

Lets not get into it here, you're right in that it was one of the greatest sides in history they faced in hindsight.

One of the greatest goal scorers in the history of the game is in the bag. I present to ye William R. Dean:

Who went by the name of Diggsy. Yes, that's right. And then some mug misheard it and thought it was Dixie. And then some even greater mugs decided it was an apt nickname for the legendary striker, whose dark complexion matched that of an American "darkie", as they called it back in the not-so-enlightened day. "Dixie" was a racial slur - a play on Dixieland (where African Americans made up a significant percentage of the population) - and our man Diggsy hated his now famous nickname.

Billy Meredith 30 mill? Well that's a steal waiting to happen. The original Welsh Wizard going for 40 millions less.

Yeah, take me out altogether actually. Ta.
oh come on. 5m is not actually a big deal. I can not circumvent the rules when I had said a fine would defo happen. Don't take the first time mistakes to heart, it happens to everyone. Look at EAP, he had a couple of poor showing first time rounds and he won the last draft handsomely.

Arguably the best player in the draft, certainly the best striker gone for 45 million. Crazy.

Certainly not the best player in the draft, arguably the best striker though. This draft is being incredibly interesting and unique with top strikers like Greaves, Charles and Dean instead of the typical Messi/Eusebio/Ronaldo/Romario blablalba.

Here are a few quotes on the great man.

Sir Matt Busby on Dixie Dean
Who could ever have seen Bill (Dixie) Dean and not seen greatness ? My first sight of him was when I first arrived in Manchester to join City as a boy of seventeen. He was playing for Everton against Manchester United at Old Trafford. He confirmed what I had heard. He scored a hat-trick. So this was English football. So this was Dixie Dean. Oh dear !

To play against Dixie Dean was at once a delight and a nightmare. He was a perfect specimen of an athlete, beautifully proportioned, with immense strength, adept on the ground but with extraordinary skill in the air. However close you watched him, his timing in the air was such that he was coming down before you got anywhere near him, and he hit that ball with his head as hard and as accurate as most players could kick it. Defences were close to panic when corners came over. And though he scored a huge tally of goals with headers he was an incredibly unselfish and amazingly accurate layer-off of chances for others. He was resilient in face of the big, tough centre-halves of his clay - and I cannot think of one centre-half today to match up with that lot, though it was often the unstoppable force against the immovable object - and he was a thorough sportsman.

There cannot be another Dixie Dean any more than there can be another anybody else. If there could be the new Dixie would still score a great pile of goals. He would out-jump, out-time, out-head any defender or any number they could pack into the area. As a header of the ball only Denis Law and, less often since he was more at the back than the front, Jack Charlton, have come within a mile of Dixie.

Arsenal Full Back Eddie Hapgood on Dean
Dixie Dean, a wizard with his feet, but just as deadly with his head, as strong as a house, and just as hard to knock off the ball, as clean in his play as a new pin, a great sportsman, and a trier to the end. Dixie was always a tough handful, not only because he was so big and fast, but because he used to roam out on to the wings, taking the centre-half with him, and, frequently, slipping him, making it extremely hard for the rest of the defence to keep some sort of order."

Bill Shankly on Dean
Dixie was the greatest centre forward there will ever be. His record of goalscoring is the most amazing thing under the sun. He belongs in the company of the supremely greats like Beethoven, Shakespeare and Rembrandt.

Italian Prisoner of War
feck your Winston Churchill and feck your Dixie Dean.

Will Lynk's outlawed bids be available in the "not bid for" category later on?

And what about Keano? Could be a hell of a dogfight over him.
