@crappycraperson the time stamps should not stand for returned bids. Had Lynk not bid, I would have bid 16m for Owen...but now though it's reversed I have to shell 19m (> 5 hrs). Can I bid 16m of Owen?
I gave up Ball for Brady. Why are you doing this to me
Looks quite similar to this game I mind playing on a mate's Amstrad:I think...maybe...this:
...is the game I'm thinking about. Not sure, though - there were many of them. The one I remember was 100% text based - no game graphics at all.
No one bothered try the one I sent a link to earlier?
Tom Finney would have been great in any team, in any match and in any age, even if he had been wearing an overcoat.
Aye, he's as good as Tommy – but then Tommy's nearly 60 now.
To be honest the only reason he's been bought is so I can quote Shankly

Shankly's predilection for exaggeration should not distract from the fact that Finney was a true great

You left out the important part from the article (provided you took it from it of course)
Also contains a snippet about Duncan Edwards. Btw just curious, why did Edwards get a golden watch from Real Madrid?
I did, actually - but it kept freezing.
There are several sites where you can download these feckers, though - and run 'em as DOS games. Works brilliantly - and of course, they don't take up any space whatsoever.

I'll bid on Owen for 16m.
He got it after the semi final in Madrid...I'm assuming as a sign of respect for the player he was, or how well he played.
Welcome on board Tom:
To be honest the only reason he's been bought is so I can quote Shankly for the rest of the tournament:
When asked about how a top star of the day compared to Finney:
It was for his (and Byrne's) heroic attempt of carrying Torres out of the pitch, I would imagine On a serious note, it's no secret that Bernabeu was a big fan of his (and most of our golden generation then). He got it after the semi final in Madrid...I'm assuming as a sign of respect for the player he was, or how well he played.
Yeah, take me out altogether actually. Ta.Lynk has fined 5m for breaching the 300m rule. Owen and Cole bid has been deemed invalid.
Can you imagine that England actually had Matthews and Finney in the same team? Two best dribblers that England ever had both in the same team - on each wing. I wanted/want Finney still in that withdrawn centre forward role he played and nearly carried to the title. Not sure which season it was, anybody does?

The first time they played this way was in May 1947 in Lisbon against Portugal, who were routed 10-0. Matthews was irresistible, but Finney was in such devastating form that his direct opponent, the Portuguese captain and right-back Álvaro Cardoso, walked off the field in the first half, demanding to be substituted, and would never play for his country again. A year later, the pair outclassed Italy in Turin, Finney cutting in to score the last two English goals in a 4-0 humiliation of the holders of the World Cup, last competed for in 1938.
That was frightening, I think

It was 1956/57 when he played as a deep-lying center-forward, under Cliff Britton. Won an English footballer of the year the second time. In 1956/57 they were third, in 1957/58 they were runner-ups.
Yeah, take me out altogether actually. Ta.
We had a group stage in the 50s draft and it was pretty tedious. That was mainly because it was 2 groups of 5 with the top 4 going through IIRC.
We basically lacked the bollocks to set up a more cut-throat group stage. So many of the games were dead rubbers.Seems brilliant, how come it was so poor? It would have as many matches as a regular draft. Also the only reasonable way to solve the fact that we are a couple short.
Billy wright and roger bryne were part of a back line which conceded 7 v Hungary. Matthews and finney were part of the Hungary drubbings too.. thats all I remember of their international achievements.
