I will wish him well if he goes but i don't understand why he would want to take a step down in his career by going to madrid who have shown how much class they lack in their blantant tapping up.

Sorry I can't wish him well playing for those Madrid bastards.

Just had a nap. Dreamt we traded Ron for Sneijder and Higuain. If it happens I'm going on Oprah or some shit.

Ronaldo focussed despite outside pressures, claims Ferreira

NEUCHATEL, Switzerland (AFP) - Cristiano Ronaldo is totally focussed on adding the Euro 2008 title to the Premiership and Champions League trophies he won with Manchester United this season and not being distracted about his future claimed squad mate Paulo Ferreira on Wednesday.

Ferreira said that the 23-year-old - who scored 41 goals in all competitions for United - was mentally strong enough to ignore the frenzy of uncertainty surrounding his future at club level, though, United insist he is not going anywhere and even his most ardent suitor Real Madrid have admitted the likelihood of him joining them is slim.

Ronaldo, though, is due to reveal where his immediate future lies at a press conference on Thursday. :nervous:

"In spite of the clubs offers, he (Ronaldo) is mentally tough enough to remain focussed on the task in hand," said Ferreira, who saw his Chelsea side finish second best to United in both the Premiership and Champions League.

"Cristiano is a winner. He is in my opinion the best player in the world. He will have a great tournament."

Portugal open their Group A campaign against 2002 World Cup semi-finalists Turkey on Saturday in Geneva, then play 2004 semi-finalists the Czech Republic in Geneva on June 11 and round off their group matches against co-hosts Switzerland in Basel on June 15.

Eh?

All fo Pique's kind words came after he'd signed for Barca. Ronaldo could come out with the exact same shite and more.

Anyone who won't wish him well will be acting like a spoilt child, IMO.

So if he goes back on his words which I distinctly remember were :"I stay", why should I wish him well?

I could wish him well so that I may appear a bigger man but I won't be sincere.

I'll be hoping that he fails in Madrid and ends up back in Portugal in 2 or 3 years, for Benfica in the best scenario. That would be just great.

fkn hell cant believe people are talking about hating him if he moves. Though it would be a really dumb move on his part I would have nothing but gratitude for what he has done for this team, particularly over the last two seasons. We will always have that no matter what he goes on to do in his career though I 'm 95% confident he will never hit the heights he has hit at United if he moves now.

Even if Ronaldo does want to leave,i think he'll go for 40-50 million pounds and not the 100 million bollocks being sprouted around.

No way real will pay that much, that was just to capture the headlines, sensationalize it and make ronaldo want to come, once he says that knowing united very well,we'll probably be lucky to milk 60 million out of him.

Im confident he'll stay for a couple of years still.

If he leaves tho, I won't wish him well at Real, and Im a huge fan of his (while he's here), I want the world to see that you don't walk out on Man United.

EDIT: On second thought. I think I would wish him well, for all he gave us thus far. Lets not be selfish.

Is that really the reason you would not wish him well?

Does that really outweigh being instrumental in winning two league titles and a Champion's League?

No-one will 'hate' him.

Hate is an overused word these days.

Gratitude for what? Using United as a some sort of a bridge from Sporting Lisbon to Real Madrid? It is not like he could have done anything different in 2003, we were the only ones to have matched Sporting's asking price. And this Summer is probably his first serious opportunity to join Madrid. If he fecks us over now, I won't feel much of a gratitude towards him, frankly.

I won't hate him, but I won't call him a legend or wish him further successes.

He is an excellent football, that was never in any doubt. Point is, if he goes back on his words and joins Real Madrid, it will - as I had said - mean that there was no relationship between him and United. He would just jump at the very first chance of moving to Madrid.

Well, he couldn't have exactly refused to score all those goals. It's the fact that he's just a brilliant footballer. But it takes much more to earn fan's respect.

Madrid has been my second team after United since I was small, with Raul the big idol. But I can't for the life of me imagine what I would do if Ronnie left this year. I would want him and Real to lose out on silverware in the same time as I'm supporting them. And I don't know whether I would want Ronaldo to succeed either. I do know that I want Heinze to be benched as much as possible though. Maybe I could hope for some miracle that makes Ronaldo stay on the bench. Like Robben, Raul and Robinho scoring 10 goals each in every pre-season game.

I don't know if it would be sweeter to see Real claim La Liga once again, or see Ronaldo cry realizing he's done the worst decision in his life. Even though I'm a lifelong fan of Real.

But let's not get too carried away since Ronaldo is signing a new deal tomorrow.

Call me idealistic, or better yet- an idoit, but yes.
Some things cannot be measured with titles- honesty and loyalty for example.

but that's just me, too much drama I suppose

And by the way I expect him to stay a bit more than a year, so let's wait and see.

Ill hope madrid flop and united continue to rule. and ronaldo can realise hes made a big mistake. The desire to say ''i told you so'' is a strong one for anyone.
(you all would want this also)

You don't seriously believe this is his "very first chance" to join Madrid?

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon insists his club would never risk their relationship with Manchester United by trying to unsettle Cristiano Ronaldo.

The transfer saga of the summer to date has seen Madrid continually speak of a desire to tempt the Portuguese winger to the Spanish capital.

Calderon has made secret of his admiration for a player who has failed to express his commitment to life at Old Trafford, since the speculation started after United's UEFA Champions League glory in Moscow.

Sir Alex Ferguson, United chief executive David Gill and club owners, the Glazer family, have been united in their stance that no offer from Madrid would tempt them into parting company with Ronaldo.

And now Calderon, who only earlier this week stated his belief that Real could afford the player, has conceded that while Ronaldo is under contract, his signature remains an impossibility.

He told Marca: "(Ronaldo) is an impossible signing because his club don't want to sell him. We can't do anything if the club that owns him don't want to sell.

"We would never (approach a player under contract) as this is not the policy of Real Madrid, and especially not with a club who we are such good friends with."

Yes.

He wasn't really a world class star until the 2006 World Cup. There were some rumours linking him with Real that time, but they were more busy trying to sort out Robben and Kaka deals that Calderon promised to conclude plus Capello didn't really like the idea of brining Ronaldo when their entire defence was falling apart. There weren't even many rumours linking him with Madrid last year because they, as always, were busy trying to sign Kaka once again. They came back after Ronaldo this season and it will probably be their first serious attempt at luring him to Bernabeu.
