Well it seems obvious to me that Adebayor has no "I've done enough here I'll move on" aspect - his reasons for wanting to go are imo obvious - he wanted to hike up the cash

I s'pose you could say ultimately he's fecked us around so he's a cvnt etc etc but I don't feel he wanted to actually go for anything other than getting his wages up on a par befitting the top strikers around at the moment

I'd question wether his heart is no longer in Arsenal at the moment whereas it's pretty clear to me that Vieira Henry and now Ronaldo's hearts were elsewhere - as Vieira's and Henry's performances proved in both their last two years with us

Course I could be wrong but that seems quite clear to me

I'm gonna put words in your mouth again, cause you do go on a bit...

You're basically saying that you're ok (more or less) with Adebayor agitating for a move abroad because he wants more cash but us United fans should never want to see Ronaldo at the club again, because he fancied a move for different reasons (i.e. personal etc.)

Massive double standards I'm afraid.

Either that or you've deluded yourself into thinking that Adebayor wouldn't have accepted a move abroad if Arsenal had agreed a fee with the likes of Barca or Milan (despite going on record in a number of press conferences that this is exactly what he wanted to happen).

Either way, it strikes me that Ronaldo is being more honest with us fans (and us fans more honest with ourselves) than seems to be going on with Adebayor and you gooners.

:wenger:

Nobody knows, could be money (same with Ron?)
Could be change (same with Ron)
Could be a dream (same with Ron)
Could be he sees it as a better chance at recognition or winning something (Not the same as Ron)

You're just telling yourself what you need to hear, fair enough, we all do it sometimes... I may have done that in this very thread.

My point is that the truth isn't always that clear... bring on the season. Actions speak louder than words right?

He'll most likely win me back not because I'm fickle, but I have an unhealthy love for United. I forgive Ronaldo because to be honest there's no point holding grudges in life. My mind and heart are however not ready to sing Viva Ronaldo.

A flawed artist. A c**t, but ours for another year.

I had inside information Ronaldo wanted out. I could not understand some fans optimism it was all media manipulation - in the process I may have typed words which may have offended - I ask for forgiveness from any poster whom I may have offended by during this debate.

This debate has been an eye opener, it has unearthed some wonderful posters, and I have learnt to some extent how the media works and manipulates our minds.

Saying all the right things. It is as good a repair job on his reputation as is possible.

As a matter of housekeeping, how long will this thread now be left open for reaction to the death of this issue? It seems to me this thread is now ready to be canned. Then we can have some closure.

Good post, and I can believe the highlighted part as you were so staunch. I can't remember you saying anything that offensive though, but there have been a zillion posts so it may have gotten past me....

face it Sultan, the whole affair has shown you up to be a cnut of the highest order. ;)

I don't think Sults has ever said anything offensive, to be fair. Far too dignified for that sort of shite. But if any thread was gonna get the worst out of folk, it's this one. God knows, it's got the worst out of me.

Adebayor did want to go and that was plain obvious. You do not say things like 'its good for all involved if I leave' if you don't want to go. He blatantly did and he had weeks to kill the speculation (the speculation that he wanted to leave) but chose not to. If he wanted more money, he could have just said 'I like it at Arsenal and want to stay, I really do but I feel that I should be paid more'. No, instead it was 'a lot of clubs are interested in me' 'its good if I go', 'Barcelona are an excellent team', 'its been my dream to play for Milan', 'I am not sure about my future' etc. Ronaldo wanted to go to but the difference is first of all, we all knew Ronaldo wanted to go to Spain one day anyway and knew Madrid was where he would eventually end up (we just didn't expect it to be so soon). On top of that, he had won everything with us (individually and as a team) and wanted a new challenge. Adebayor on the other hand clearly thought Barcelona and Milan were more attractive options than Arsenal. Two and a half years at Arsenal and he is flirting with new clubs. Not a good sign for later on is it! Also, Ronaldo admitted in his interview that he did want to go and was honest unlike Adebayor who lied saying he never wanted to go etc

Not a bad shout.

There are definitely aspects of Ronaldo and the coming season which could be discussed (or indeed, the whole Ronaldo vs Adebayor thing) in a thread of their own.

This thread was started to discuss him leaving the club this summer. That ain't gonna happen, so I reckon the thread has run it's course.

But I'll let it slide, you're all emotional...

Nice one Sults. But do tell all regarding your inside info - I cannot be the only one to find this intriguing..

Aw, you're just a spoilsport!

Seriously, there were times when people were calling for it to be closed weeks ago and I definitely did not advocate that. This thread has been a useful emotional crutch for me at times this summer, and my postcount in it reflects the times when I have felt most agitated by the issue (and, conversely, when I have been bored of it and thought I didnt care either way, as long as it was resolved.)

But now the matter has been put to bed. There is no point in keeping a thread open for the sake of increasing the postcount.

Can we close this thread now?

Please.
If you don't want to be in here why don't you toddle off to some other thread?
Right now this thread is going at a page an hour and receiving 1500 views an hour.
What on earth is the point in stopping it except to satisfy a couple of sad posters who don't want to be in here?

because we all now know his immediate future.

lets have other ronaldo related threads, which have titles that might actually tell me some new news/comments on him, rather than going back in pages in this one thread.

A bit like saying 'ban channel 4 because i don't like the content. Don't bloody watch it is what.

If you closed it, hundreds of journalists would have to update their bookmarks.

During 90min, i'll support whoever wears the shirt. Cheer him on no matter what. However, after those 90min are up, Ronnie's a cnut again. As for Viva Ronaldo, he still deserves it but I just hope we appreciate the whole team more, so I hope its sung a lot less.

If it wasn't about the money, why didn't he come out and just say he wanted a new challenge? It would have made his situation understandable.

Isn't it election year next year at Madrid?

We've all moved on actually..

No it must reach 20,000!

feck that, we got the worlds best player to stay. And imo its not so strange that a player from portugal would want to play in Spain. Only thing he did wrong was calling himself a slave witch was so fecking disrespectful. But maybe thats just the press fecking with him.

Close the thread.

Now the egg is well and truly on Real Madrid's face

Schuster, and even Raul have recently commented on the end of the "Ronaldo saga", but guess who still hasn't came out with anything yet?

Why? This thread gets closed and loads more Ronaldo threads will just pop up.

I agree on that part, but the saga is over, so the speculations are finished and his future is with United for atleast one more season. Rename the thread to Ronaldo muppetery.
