Well, all his gallivanting is doing the MUFC brand no harm [shrugs]... probably got more column inches in his short vacation out there then the whole Chelsea pre-season tour last year.

Am I right or wrong yanks?
I don't read the gossip pages of the newspaper, but I'd be a little surprised if he is getting much press in those, and his LA trip isn't getting any in the sports pages (only for the transfer saga). The people who read (and write) the gossip pages have likely never heard of him before. Snubbing Paris Hilton might have gotten him a blurb or two just because of her. To most of that group (as his talkative little tryst said) he is just a young, good looking, rich, foreigner, but not a "name".

That's Villa AND Van der Vaart they want. By all accounts, they'll probably get VdV this weekend when they play in London.

You'd be hard pushed to find one poll this summer in Marca, AS, amongst the RM fan forums and peñas etc that was in favour of buying Ron. The fans are scared of the debts, of galacticos. A lot of them are anti-Ron already - just because it would be Calderon bringing him in.

If they get him - they'll have Ron sliced, diced and served as (very expensive) tapas if he breaks down during the recovery from the injury or if anything goes wrong on the field, in the dressing room or even in the P.R. department.

You are right. Ronaldo may think it will all be well at Real Madrid, but it wont. Their fans dont want a return to the era of the Galacticos. For such a huge fee the fans will be demanding perfection every week and will get on his back if he struggles. There will be no mercy for him there and very little support.

So Chelsea > Ronaldo out there? Interesting...

I hate to say it, but expect to see the word "deadline" again tomorrow. Yeah, yeah - I know. And it's all about the power struggle at Madrid.

The Madrid board meets this evening and is expected (by the actual Spanish press, not AS and Marca) to issue an ultimatum to Ron. Cheeky bastards! Before the end of the week, they want a: Public statement, blatant, from him - announcing his intentions to "confront" United to get a move to Madrid.

Otherwise the "Caso Ronaldo" (Ronaldo project) will be declared closed and they'll move onto Plan B.

With the majority of the board now believing that Ron won't be coming and threatening to join forces with the section of the board who don't want Ron, or prefer Plan B, or who think that Madrid are behaving in an undignified and unsporting manner - Calderon is apparently getting a little antsy.

Guillem: I've got to ask you about Cristiano Ronaldo, and I know it puts you in a difficult position, but from what you have just described, whatever he chooses to do, he's spoilt for choice isn't he?

Beckham: Without a doubt, having two options like that. But he's obviously got a long contract at Manchester United and its not really any of my business to say where he should go, or where I think he should go, because at the end of the day it will be down to him and down to the clubs that are arguing over him.

What I will say is that he is the best player in the world at the moment. He's a young talent, who has proven himself over the last few years, and last season everybody saw what he did for Manchester United – and the United fans love him. There will be a lot of disappointed people if he did leave Manchester, but when I left the club, the only other club that I ever really wanted to play for was Real Madrid. Living in Madrid and playing for Real Madrid, there's not many better clubs than that - apart from Manchester United, which is equal.

To have those two choices is good for him. There's been a lot of talk over the last few months, but we'll have to wait and see. At the end of the day he is a Premiership champion, a European champion, and he'll be crowned world player of the year I'm sure. We'll have to wait and see.

Balague again. :lol:

If Ronaldo wants to leave then he's got to put in a transfer request. It's the "nuclear option" but it's the only way he's leaving this summer.

Well the English language Spanish online-news site 'Bignews Network' carries this at the moment;

Real Madrid to bid for Fabregas should Ronaldo deal fall through;
London, July 28 : Spanish football club Real Madrid has indicated that it may seek the services of Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas if it is unable to secure Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.

Real chiefs have run out of patience with United's stance and Ronaldo's refusal to ask for a transfer, so they have made former Barcelona trainee Fabregas their new No 1 target.

Spanish sources are claiming to have made two approaches to Fabregas' representatives and were told he wants to stay at Arsenal for at least one more year.

But, as United will testify, Real do not give up easily and will try to prise him away before the August 31 transfer deadline.

The Gunners have had had to fight off repeated attempts by Barcelona to lure Fabregas back to Spain. He was one of the stars of the national team that won the Euro 2008 finals and most Spaniards want to see him back playing in his homeland.

But Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will not entertain any idea of selling his midfield maestro and will tell Real and Barca he is not for sale.

According to The Sun, Real are also keen on Valencia striker David Villa and have spoken to Hamburg about their midfield ace Rafael van der Vaart.

A fresh enquiry has been made to AC Milan over Brazilian superstar Kaka, while Werder Bremen's attacking midfielder Diego is another on the Real hit-list.

Real are the true FM muppets. They seem to want most of the 'stars' playing these days instead of thinking how to build a balanced team. I really hope we will meet them in the CL this year and thump them.

And Spanish online-taloid 'Sport.ES' carries this;

Madrid 'conditions' the romances of Cristiano

Destiny is capricious with Cristiano Ronaldo. While we spend all the summer wondering if he does or does not join Real Madrid, it so happens that the white club is also following his romances. And the fact is that besides being blamed to Sergio Branches of his break with Nereida, with the one that the lateral one of Madrid maintained a relation in November, 'Ball Rose' has just informed that another player of the staff of Schuster is the responsible for his new relation with Letizia Filippi, finalist of Miss Italy 94, model and presenter. And the fact is that the couple recently premiered was known in a yacht... Property of Cannavaro! And on top, Nereid has been present, therefore was during the holidays that she and Cristiano Ronaldo passed in Sardinia and Capri. According to the agent of Letizia (upper photo in bikini), the model will travel to Los Angeles in brief, where Christian is being passed it in large. 'The Sun' published yesterday the statements of an American model, T-shirt Ghazian, who says to have been one of the many - "practically a for day" - that they have gone to bed with him during their stay in Beverly Hills. "He told me that he likes women with curves", added it cited T-shirt...

I wonder if anyone reading this thread can help me? I'm finding it impossible to upload pics from my PC into posts. I'm fine posting pics from the web that have their own unique url, but if they don't then obviously it's necessary to first save the pic to the hard drive and then post it from there, but I cannot get the 'Manage Attachments' option to work. The dialogue box pops up, I browse my hard drive, select the pic, click 'upload' in the dialogue box and nothing appears in the Post box, where you write the text.

Clicking the 'Insert Image' icon on the toolbar at the top of the Post-box does nothing either; I get 'Error: Window.dialogArguments undefined - exiting'. Not that I think this in fact forms part of the drill for uploading pics from one's hard drive.

Please help someone who's done this (Yes I know, I'm just plain dumb!) especially as I'm trying to post a pic of Ronnie's bird topless that I've saved from a Spanish site!

Project ronaldo, ultimatums, Plan B, Ronaldo partying in LA, corruption, slavery, 18k thread on the Caf..

It's like a Hollywood movie.

I'd like to be played by Denzel Washington in the movie, I suggest Silent Bob plays Jason... Where is Jason?

Sounds more like a verse off Billy Joel's We didn't start the fire if you ask me :lol:

Though we have to say goodbye for the summer

But Cafetards I promise you this

Madrid will keep on tapping

Everyday in a letter

Sealed with Calderon's kiss.

This thread has no more legs.

Even BahamaRed is not posting in here anymore.

Let it go lads! :smirk:

To be fair he's away from home with limited internet access

Does seem, for this summer at least, the whole saga is over with, bar a few potential 'aftershocks'. I can't see Ronaldo making anymore silly comments, and Madrid have to turn to other targets or face bringing nobody in for the new season

Ferguson has managed it wonderfully. And let us be thankful we don't have Levy controlling our transfer policy, else Ronaldo would presumably have been 'forced' out, for a fee around the £18-£20million mark...

Thanks for that. But why can't we just upload from our hard drives? The FAQ on the Caf claims we can, and gives instructions how to do it; does everyone else have the same problems I have?
